'Twas a good time. Occasionally there is the d-bag celebrity who acts like he would rather be eating paint chips than be at the convention (so why come? Mystery of the universe.) but I've not heard any negatories about these people. The money selling their signatures probably ... ? Though with some cases selling my jewelry at festivals, I will say if you are going to not like something, don't go. I have actually turned down several because I knew I wouldn't have fun because the people hosting them were snobs and wanted me in there to get other stuff knowing my popularity in town. Others were how much they wanted for the booth when I knew the festival wasn't popular. The only time it gets REALLY sad is when it's not the actor it's the assistant who's rude. I have had one time this happened to me, but out of respect for the actress (who is very sweet and I wish her the best in her continuing career), I had a few choice thoughts toward the assistant, who seemed to forget it's folks like us who help her star, which in turn helps her keep her paycheck.

Yeah, those assistants can be like the Gestapo sometimes. Many years back at one of our lower-budget trips to an Adventurecon, my girlfriend tried to take a candid shot of Kate Jackson several tables away, but her female "bodyguard" stood up and wagged her finger at us as a non-verbal command to "get lost", never mind the fact it was a public venue. Therefore, I stood in front of the replica Batmobile in the middle of the room with my back to her table, while Linda pretended to take my picture but actually had the camera angled just a little to the left. Bite me, Dragon Lady!

Yeah - especially since people get photobombed in candid shots all the time. It's like "OK, look you're not losing money by me accidentally getting you in a shot... but you WILL lose that $20 sale of an autographed picture - or even me visiting you - because you have an assistant who obviously knows nothing about camera angles and the like. I really wish some of these stars would tell their assistants to stuff it when people take photos that are not necessarily directed at them because seriously - that assistant can make people not want to watch the star's work, meaning BOTH are out of a job.
