So with several SJC Productions series already on the DVD shelf, what else would everyone like to see released next?
My top 3 picks would be:
Hardcastle & McCormick Riptide Stingray

Nothing higher on my list than "Stingray".
It also seems to me that they could probably sell a lot of "Tenspeed and Brownshoe" DVDs with Vereen and Goldblume's picture on the cover.
And although I haven't bought any of the "Wiseguy" DVDs, yet, If they ever release the whole series...well there are several unaired episodes as a result of the series' mid-season cancelation that I've never seen.

I'm gonna vote for:
Hardcastle & McCormick (Seasons 1 & 2)
Stingray (Season 1)
Hunter (Season 1 with music restored)
I've already left a note with Cannell.com to this effect.

While I always like most of Cannell's shows (didn't like STINGRAY, though, oh well, nor did I cotton to RENEGADE), time and finances mean I ain't gonna buy every season of everything. One good thing about cult shows like GAH or I SPY is that they DIDN'T last long, so you can get the full set fairly economically and in short order. When a show goes on for 10 seasons or something, it can be a tall order to find the money to buy it all and then find time to watch it all.
So while I loved RIPTIDE and HARDCASTLE, I have to admit it's unlikely I'm going to buy em. I just don't see me watching them that much. The same with HUNTER for me. But it is opinion, as I will buy all of GAH and the first three seasons of SILK STALKINGS. The first season of the A-TEAM I'm on the fence on -- I think I'd like it, but economics have delayed my taking the plunge.
Other than those, I'm not sure what Cannell shows I'd buy at all.

Did SJC ever do any other GAH/Ateam type shows? Over the top crime fighters with humor.

Although the critics seemed to insultingly declare almost everything he did after The A-Team as a new take on that show, the thing that came closest for me was "Broken Badges" (1990). It was basically "The A-Team", updated for the 90s; and I mean that in the very best sense. A group of misfits band together to champion the cause of the very system that's turned it's back on them. The writing had that same inteligent wackyness, the character interaction had the same vibe. Each character was sort of a variation of A-Team characters.
Miguel Ferrer was the unorthodox leader Eileen Davidson was the bruiser (picture B.A. Baracus' attitude and fighting skill transplanted into the body of a supermodel) Jay Johnson was the crazy* ventriloquist Ernie Hudson was the good looking con man/kleptomaniac Charlotte Lewis was their psychiatrist
*Technically, they were all crazy; that's how you end up in that squad
Let me see if I can dig out an old video tape, so I can post the exact opening naration later this evening.
As far as doing something similar to "GAH", in 1991 Cannell gave us "The 100 Lives of Black Jack Savage". I guess the best way to describe it is as a cross between "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir" and "Hardcastle and McCormick"; I guess you could call it "The Ghost and McCormick". It starred Steven Williams and Daniel Hugh Kelly.

(over b/w headshots of the cast, the first four of which are stamped: 'PSYCHOLOGICAL RESTRICTION')
"What do you do with a bunch of cops like these? One's a kleptomaniac. One's a compulsively violent ventriloquist. One's addicted to danger. And their leader is a transplanted Cajun who makes up his own rules as he goes along. What do you do with a bunch of cops like these? Give them a psychiatrist...and pray."
cut to kick-ass opening credit sequence with kick-ass theme song. They just don't make 'em like that any more.

I really liked the first season of Wiseguy. That would be great to see again, on DVD.

You're kidding, right? "Wiseguy" is out on DVD, up to half-way through the third season (except for the seven episodes when Vinnie went undercover in the music industry, you'll never guess why...)

No, I'm not kidding. I didn't know. I don't get to really look very often, for myself...husband, 4 kids, work, etc. Thanks for letting me know. I'll start looking for it around here.

Thanks! The Sonny Steelgrave one was my favorite. The Mel Profitt one was good, but the whole brotherly-sisterly love thing was pretty sick. Kevin Spacey made it memorable, of course.

Jay Johnson?! No kidding! Just looked that listing up - I had no idea he was in that show. Loved him in Soap. ------------------ Just checked... wow. That show only lasted for 8 (!) episodes. And one of the episodes was titled "Argo The Venusian". Cannell just love that word Venusian, eh?

True brilliance is never appreciated in it's own time; just look at "The Rousters".

Yep, that was him. I was a Soap fan too.

Another DVD package (Soap) where things were cut for 'licensing' reasons or just silly mistakes made in general with the release (for example, 2 of the episodes on the Season One DVD are the 'syndicated' versions of the show, with footage missing from them - sloppy job, guys...)
