Well either that or start juggling again. Too bad I can't find the zip disk that contains the computer art pic I did of my juggling my favorite hobbies. If I did, that'd be a neat pic for this thread. Then again, my neck was sunburned in that pic and wearing my "Wild, Wild West" outfit (collars and sunburns don't mix well), so maybe not.

If Mel didn't live so far away, we could get an official GAH.com videographer there (a.k.a. me and my camcorder) Trust me, I'm kicking myself for not recording a video on my digital camera of William Katt last August. Maybe I could have gotten him to say, "Hi, this is William Katt. Thanks for visiting the Greatest-American-Hero-dot-com website!" but it probably would have cost me another $100 ...but enough about me, back to our regularly scheduled MelMac love fest...

Well worth it. Maybe you could go to the Variety show.

Well, the one thing I can at least say is that I'm closer to the city and don't live out in the middle of nowhere like I was in West Texas when I lived in Andrews. It's the only true town in the county (the other two are Tarzan, a bump in the road, and Brady, which is apparently just an elementary school). But, I digress. I should have some pics from the event because the photographer will be there. Since I work at the paper as well, I might be able to get a photo or two to post, with his permission of course. If nothing else, I'll have a different pic of me in my jammies (well a morphed version of sorts.) Knowing my luck one of the clubs will sail out into the audience like they did one time. They're not heavy and don't hurt if you clock yourself with them, but they can surprise daydreamers.

Really? You have clocked your audience members before? Maybe it is a good thing none of us are going.

Really? You have clocked your audience members before? Maybe it is a good thing none of us are going. Nope, I'm the only victim of my juggling accidents (fortunately). The one time this happened they landed right in front of the stage. Besides, these were $7 clubs I got at at Kay-Bee toy store, so I seriously doubt they'd been hurt. Now it would have if I had the 10-15 pound (well they feel like that) Indian clubs that the big time professionals use. They give me a sore back when I borrow a set.

So how many hours a day do you put in practicing this performance? When is it again? Still tickets for it or is it sold out?

So how many hours a day do you put in practicing this performance? When is it again? Still tickets for it or is it sold out? Well, time depends on how much of it I have. I usually spend about 30 minutes to an hour rehearsing particular routines on weekends and usually just juggle a few minutes everyday just for the heck of it. Lately, this is a little bit more as the days to the show near. If I want to learn some new trick, I tend to focus more on it when I just have a few minutes. Now the show itself, which is part of an awards banquet, is Jan. 22. There are tickets for it, but they go fairly fast. The dinner that's catered is very good, so I can see why. I went to it last year as a reporter (I have those duties occasionally on top of my normal ones), and had a lot of fun. Personally, I'm interested in seeing which reporter decides to take the story, since it's on a Sunday evening. No one likes working weekends, hence why I did the story last year, but this year I can't be in two places at once. A separate perk of being a member of the show this year.

Can't you do both? I know that I have had to do both reporting and my other duties to other organizations before. You can be a reporter half the time and in the act the rest of the time and then write a story about how great you were.

You can be a reporter half the time and in the act the rest of the time and then write a story about how great you were. I've done reporting like that too, but in that case, I did more of the behind the scenes work and wasn't directly involved. An example was when I donated a set of jewelry I made for door prizes for the murder mystery dinner. I was allowed to do so, but could still report because it had no impact on the story itself. Hence the problem. I'm going to be running around enough as is (I remember year's show too well), and the director of the show is professional enough to require us to stay backstage. Besides, and this is a bit brusque, I think it's time that people realize you have to report on weekends and not give it to the CE. They've done it to me enough, and I have a life too.

Juggling is a life? Well, it's part of mine, but I'm also including visiting relatives, going on trips, that sort of thing. I don't just sit at home and twiddle my thumbs. From most of my posts, it's pretty obvious I'm a bit adventurous.

Yup...you socialite...on a first-name basis with all the tumbleweeds between here and the Mojave. Don't live in the West now, I moved a couple of years ago. I'm in the Hill Country. Now it's the deer it seems, but no buffalo.

Just thought about this when I was posting about moving. Funny thing about one song. I was in a talent show the night before I found out I got my current job. The routine I juggled to was "Journey of the Sorceror," also known as the theme to "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy." The end of my performance, I pretended like I was going to hitch a ride. Odd thing was, I did it backward and was pointing East. That's the direction I moved. And, for someone who had to deal with turtles and geese crossing, deer can be a scary experience the first time you see them standing by the road.

At least you only saw one...usually they come in threes or fours minimum around here. You, go the wrong direction, Never!

At least you only saw one...usually they come in threes or fours minimum around here. You, go the wrong direction, Never! Being the only known person to ever get lost in a city with two main streets, it's possible. I've been lucky as far as deer, especially given the times I drive. The only problem I had with animals in groups were the wild turkey in the Palo Duro Canyon at night. They seemed to gather together in groups, and they are very fast.

Lost in a town with two streets? That might be a new record...where is my world records book? *Looks around* Funny. There were several roads there as well, but two main ones, one toward New Mexico and one toward Odessa. One place I haven't gotten lost is in Amarillo. The roads are numbered east to west and are presidents north south. Knowing most of the presidents in order, I never had a problem finding the photo store. (Knowing where Route 66 was too didn't hurt.)
