I didn't see any updates or posts to see if people had remembered that we got an extra hour to do things today (in some parts of the world anyway.) Let us know how you did. I set mine back about 10pm Saturday night...just so I knew I did it...and why waste that good hour...sometimes you can convince rowdy bar crowds to go along with you.

My wife and I NEVER NEVER NEVER remember to reset the clock; we really should write ourselves a note.
This time wasn't so bad, except we were an hour early for my son's dentist appt, and then we complained when they made us wait an hour without an explanation. (Office is open 7 days, for those of us who have no time on weekdays)
Six months ago was real bad, though, when we lost an hour. We couldn't figure out why the realtor was an HOUR EARLY for the open house we were having, and we hadn't finished the big cleaning project yet... That was pretty bad.
It used to suck when I was in high school and working at Knott's Berry Farm on the weekends, cause I'd always be real early or real late at least twice a year (actually more than that, but at least the time change gave me an excuse of sorts... no one believed me, tho)

I think Daylight Savings Time has out-worn its usefulness. It was initially suggested by Ben Franklin. I mean, props to Ben, he's one of my heroes, but do we really need it for agricultural purposes?
All I can think of is that there must be some monetary advantage, or we wouldn't still be doing it in the 21st century.

Not only is it still going strong, but I even read in the news about a proposal to extend it to TWO HOURS! Now I'll really be late...

I didn't forget, though I was late to work at Six Flags because of car probs (didn't get written up... mostly because the earlier time was for bagging candy, and I did a lot of that solo and without complaints. ) Been useful too this year as it helped me get adapted to coming to work a heck of a lot earlier than I have been past few years (night shift there). Now, I'm having no probs.

I hope it doesn't go two hours. I don't want it dark out at 3 in the afternoon. We remembered & set all of ours back Saturday night.

That'd be a great way to mess with people's minds... daylight in dark and vice versa. That gives me the old "Northern Exposure" vibes there.

Ok, here is a new topic for this thread.
What is stressing you out right now...
Holidays? In-laws? Work? School? Money? Raking up the autumn leaves?
A place to rant, confess, joke, or make light of it all...

Ok. I'll start...
The holidays.
The holidays are my favorite time of year.
The christmas cards, the prezzies (which this year we can't really afford), the decorating (and subsequent messy house), the crowds...I usually love this time of year, usually because I have always done the small Christmas thing.
I don't have a million relatives to write cards to. I don't buy thousands of gifts. I do a few Toys for Tots packages or what-not, and immediate family... I decorate, but it's usually just me, and for the past few years, Mr. Noir. Then we gather people who don't celebrate xmas (a Jewish friend often comes round, my sister if she's around, and sometimes the non-Americans who don't have a place to go "home" to). The past two years, it has just been me and Mr. Noir.
This year the in-laws are coming. They have never been to our place. We don't have the place set up for it... And hubby wants his mom to do the cooking. Then there are the gifts for them to bring back to nieces and nephews that I have maybe met once or twice... ack!!
Usually people are supposed to spend the holidays with family and friends. For me, this whole scenario is really very very stressful!!! I know it's over a month away... but.... but... but it's only a month away!
ACK!

Right now: MOVING! I've never been great at it, and one year moved about 5 times in the whole year (BTW, three of them were just dorm to dorm at college. ) This time it's a little rougher because I'm going to have to convince my old landlady to give me back the remaining rent. It helps that they told me they'd do it, and I"m going to use it against them. I mean $260 is $260 left. (They got the lion's share of this month. ) It'll be sad to leave, but I'm looking forward to living in my new home. Irony is... this stress is helping me get more M-Rated story ideas than I'm accustomed to (1's more than normal).

Too bad we can't modify polls...Josie could have started a new one in her post...we would never need to start new threads again with her around.

Well, it fits, we're being honest with all of us about what stresses us out. (At least for me it's now not someone possibly bowling me over or me getting getting overheated in costume).

Well, I could just start a new thread whenever I have a new topic or go off on tangents. Soon that "number of topics" count will reach 5,000 or so. One for each of my posts...
Some people are lumpers. Some or spliters.
Hey, I tried to find a better home for the topic without adding a seventh page to the bug bin... but I didn't think it would fit in the NEW Star Wars Bounty Hunter!!!!!!!! thread... [/size]

Another stressful thing: People who don't understand that community service usually means doing a good deed without the expectation of pay? I can't go into it much, and I understand wanting to be paid to perform at a fancy shindig (read: they can pay for it), but I'm hearing these fairly extravagant fees to entertain guests during a baking contest.
C'mon, can't people do good deeds and have fun? You'd be amazed at going to one of these and performing for fun will get you gigs and such (though I'll admit, jugglers tend to get invited a lot, particularly if they juggle fire (I don't, but some tricks I do are rather unique for them, such as arabesques, scorpions and such).

There is also another thing that would work for stress: People not understanding red light means stop and if both sides have green, you have to yield if you're turning. Yesterday when I was commuting to work, I almost became a first-hand witness to a car wreck because the person who was turning still turned even when he/she saw the person driving down the other side to cross the road. Good thing it didn't happen, as I'd stayed until the officers came and told them the guy in the car in front of me was dumb and tried to beat a car out turning. (This struck me as funny mind you, the car had Kinky Friedman for governor stickers on the back of the car and silly stickers. He for some reason just strikes me as wacky and funny. )

I'm wondering just how long a thread started for the end of Daylight Savings Time can go on. Maybe same time, next year?

Sounds somewhat familiar...people not stopping for red lights....hmmm. Is that a "hmmmm" or an "owwwww"?
If it's "hmmmmm" - you've got a much better insurance company than I do!
