I had the Nintendo version of BACK TO THE FUTURE. It was dumb. Probably better than Atari's "E.T." which was so lame and not selling off the shelves they actually buried the games underground and paved over them.

Has anyone see MyT lately?
I know I haven't been around.. but... I was thinking of him when I heard the news of the Universal sets going up in flames.

I saw him log on once a while back, but I do not think he has actively posted in a long time. Maybe he thought that if you were not here, Josie, he had no reason to be here.

*sigh*
Well, if he promises to come back, I will promise to play more.

Probably better than Atari's "E.T." which was so lame and not selling off the shelves they actually buried the games underground and paved over them. I absolutely hated that freakin' game. Actually, as a small child it scared me. Later on it just made me mad because E. T. wouldn't move like I wanted him to. Stupid game. Did they really bury them underground and pave over them? Really?

Really?Yes, they really did bury them. There was a newsstory on it somewhere about myths vs. reality, but I don't remember the link - or if it's there anymore. I think out of all the games I played when I was younger "Space Spartans" was the one that never seemed to work right. Of course, it and "B-17 Bomber" were popular because they had the extra thingamabob voicemaker that you could put in the Intellivision, add the game and you could hear them talk.

Of course, it and "B-17 Bomber" were popular because they had the extra thingamabob voicemaker that you could put in the Intellivision, add the game and you could hear them talk. Yeah, I distinctly remember the cursor suddenly skipping a sector just as you hit warp and ended up at a different location, but that seemed to be the only issue I had with "Space Spartans." Then there's the ultimate final damage report the computer voice would give that I always hated to hear: "SHIELDS: DESTROYED" "HYPER DRIVE: DESTROYED" "BATTLE COMPUTER: DESTROYED" "IMPULSE DRIVE: DESTROYED" "TRACKING COMPUTER: DESTROYED" "HULL: 2/3 DOWN" At that point, I knew we were screwed. The voice module also worked with "Bomb Squad." Not only did it give the countdown, there was the occasional "THEY'LL NEVER DO IT IN TIME!" that the game would yell out to make you jump. Felt to me like the nervous bystander sweating over your shoulder while you feverishly worked on disarming the bomb. Ahhh...the classics...

Nintendo released a special anniversary edition of Intellivision games, but missed some of the classics. I understand not putting in there Lock 'n' Chase and Beauty and the Beast because they were similar to PacMan and Donkey Kong respectively, but why couldn't they put in Q-Bert or Burgertime? Both were quite fun to play and AFAIK not related to any Atari games. Snafu and Triple Action at least made the cut.

Ok...now I have the Burgertime theme running through my head. My mom had movement patterns for that game worked out to a tee back in the day. When we acquired a replacement unit a few years ago she had forgotten them all. Maybe the rights to Q-Bert got messed up when they made that cartoon series.... who knows...

Oh... forgot they had a cartoon series. That's possible, but man, I miss Coiley and Q-Bert and Sparky and the bouncing balls that always drove me bonkers... Well, take that back, when after you reached level three you couldn't hit a square more than twice or it reverted back to the original color. Liked how the eggs, sausage and pepper always looked odd when Burgerguy threw pepper at them. The pickles to me were the funniest - they turned grey, while the other items looked fried.

Great. Now Mel's Melmanecdotes have scared MyTatuo off. OK, but it's my anecdotes, Miss D, and Videofox's comments all did that. He'll probably come on again soon and kid me for again being too literal like you always like to do.
