This little blurb appeared in last Sundays Parade magazine:
Screenwriter Bruce Feirstein has adapted The A-Team for the big screen, with a tentative release in the summer of 2007. Producer Stephen J. Cannell tells us: "We want the biggest stars we can get-of the caliber of Bruce Willis. None of the original TV actors will star, but we may put Mr. T in as a cameo."

What a crock. Only him? That is a shame. And I don't see Bruce Willis as being any good as a member of the A-Team.

That would be a tough casting call. A-Team was another show I watched back then, but I don't see Bruce Willis as one of them.

John Hannibal Smith - Bruce Willis Templeton "Face" Peck - Ben Affleck B.A. "Bad Attitude" Baracas - Michael Clarke Duncan H.M. "Howling Mad" Murdock - Ashton Kutcher
My god, that is SCARY! I can TOTALLY see this happening... unfortunately...

Funny. I have heard Mel Gibson or Tommy Lee Jones for Hannibal. I have heard that Dirk Benedict wanted Owen Wilson to play him, but that Owen is slated for Murdock like Jim Carrey is...and that Brendan Frasier is slated to play Face. I have heard nothing on B.A though. I think Tommy Lee Jones would make a great nemesis...trying to capture the A-Team.

Probably get beaned for this, but I could see Mel Gibson legitimately play Smith (as in no over hamming). Don't have an idea about the other three save the original lineup). ETA, reading HD's post, if Owen Wilson was cast, Face would be the better role for him. He's got the charming sleeziness about him. Murdock he'd look silly playing.

Hey guys, I'm getting something here.... *concentrates* Will Smith as Face........ *Has a reaction like Bill when Ralph disappears or walks through a wall* Then again, if it's not as bad as his Jim West character... or that whole God forsaken movie.. it could be workable. He's wacky, but I don't see him casted as Murdoch. Carey could work for Murdoch. Hannibal..... Get John Cena from the WWE... hahahahaha, I kid. Hmmm, Clooney? Though I'm getting nightmares about Batman & Robin now.. *shudder* B.A. Barracus.... Ice Cube? I'm sure I've probably lost my mind with these suggestions. This is like the many threads saying who would be good casted as Ralph, Bill and Pam. Tough decision.

This is like the many threads saying who would be good casted as Ralph, Bill and Pam. Tough decision. Hmmm... Jim Carrey might work if he took the role seriously. There's a huge difference between crazy and crazy like a fox. Murdoch was the latter, and I think he could do it if he remembers that. BA, the guy from "The Green Mile" I think could work well, but there really aren't too many people I can see in the role. Mr. T will probably be the most difficult to recast (though they are all tough). Ice-T (Law and Order fame now) might be workable, but not sure about that either. (Bit OT, but I will say in Smith's defense that while he wasn't as good as the original West, he was a darn sight better than his counterpart, Kevin Kline as Artemus. Smith at least had some of the charm of the original, Kline completely changed the character. Gordon, as played by Ross Martin, was just as rough and tough as West when he needed to be, but was a charmer and a terrific master of disguise. Kline made him a fop, to be very nice. Only things I liked about the movie were train, costumes, and music. Series runs circles over the movie. )

Continued OT. "the series ran circles around the movie", I didn't have to see the movie to know that one. Just the way it was turning out, looked like a disaster. I did see one segment where they had the RCA joke reference.. a white dog with black spots looking at an old time record player.. I turned it off right after that. Same went for the Dukes of Hazzard movie, sometimes you can just tell it's not gonna be good. Back on topic though, I hope the best for this A-Team movie, just leave Robert Vaughn's character out of the movie and ferchrissakes.. don't put in any voting aparatuses for the viewing audiences on how the movie should go! lol

Never seen it, won't see it. Irony about "WWW" the only people to actually fit the roles were the Loveless women, beautiful but deadly. I was glad they didn't put in Antoinette. The actress who played her alongside Dunn's Miguelito Loveless made for a wonderful almost evil version of John Steed and Emma Peel ("The Avengers"). RCA ref was cheezy but fine, my problem was the bungee cord rope. Was not plausible, even in that time. At least in the original show, stuff they used even though it wasn't invented until after the period of the show, at least would've been plausible (well, maybe not the humanoid robots in the last TV movie...) As far as "The A-Team," I saw the last season on TV Land, and you've hit the nail on the head with Robert Vaughn's character. When they had them running missions for one person to pay off their freedom, it took away from the fun of the show. I didn't like the addition of the fifth character either. Not that he was a bad character (he was decent), but he seemed to be the odd man out. Don't know, more I think about Gibson as Hannibal, the more I think he'd be the best fit for the role, providing he keeps it real.

The recent Dukes of Hazzard movie was really bad.
The 1997 Dukes of Hazzard Reunion TV movie with the original cast was much more enjoyable.

I think I should play Murdock. I am not a big name, but neither was Dwight Schultz when originally cast.

I have heard mention of Ving Rhames for B.A. and I don't disagree with that choice per se. It is too bad that they are trying to recreate each character rather than move it along differently somehow. Of course, the WB tried that with MACGYVER and failed, so maybe recreating is the only way to go.

None of the original TV actors will star, but we may put Mr. T in as a cameo. Put Mr. T in as a cameo? Sheesh, he's the only reason why I watched the show. Now the movie idea doesn't sound very appealing at all...

The movie sounds horrible to me too, but I like the idea that at least ONE of the original cast might be in it. That would be its ONLY saving grace I imagine, although SJC and Frank Lupo are great writers...I might be surprised.

Watched "The Late Late show with Craig Ferguson," Yesterday, and Cannell said they were considering binging back all the members for a cameo (well, sounded like it to me). This isn't possible, as Peppard's passed away, but it'd be interesting to see the other three in the movie. Now... if they cast it right, it might work, but so far, they've been shooting snake eyes. (Apparently though, in Craig's mind, "21 Jump Street" made into a move wouldn't be bad as long as Depp's in there. That guy was mentioned I think more than any of Cannell's shows. I like the guy, but his off topic issues seems to get the best of him (and sometimes, I think he's worse than a certain literal person here. )

I don't think that Depp could pull off 21 JUMPSTREET anymore since he is so much older. He might play the cop in charge, but I don't know if Depp would play it. As for the original characters of the A-Team, it would be neat to see which ones he meant. The team of course, but what about the girls...Vaughn...Frankie Santana...Decker, Fulbright, Lynch, etc? I think it would be neat to find ways to work them all in...then it could be on DVD with that BRING BACK THE A-TEAM special...IF that doesn't come out on the Season 5 DVD.

Yeah... but how to cover Peppard's appearance? Do something like they did in the "New Love Boat" and ahve a picture with hsi face circled like they did Fred Grandy (Gopher) when he didn't appear? (who, BTW, I think didn't because eh was doing something for the NFP group he works for.)
