I liked the tail end of the theme song on the radio. Also one of the sisters (I dunno who's who so please excuse!) on her phone there at the cemetery mentions meeting someone at the Wing and a Prayer Cafe Personally, I didn't like those two references back to the original. It makes it seem forced.
I guess that's how I feel about the whole episode - it's like things are being forced. Forcing things means that it isn't flowing naturally - and that includes the acting, the links back to the original, the tension between the sisters, etc...

I'm going to wait till I've seen the whole episode to really comment on it. I would however like to mention a possible reason for the short videos. Youtube I think has a limit of how long videos can be. I think the longest is 9 - 10 minutes? Not sure, but I'm wondering if that's one of the reasons the episode was cut down to what it was. YouTube's free account limit is "10 minutes and 1024 MB." They used to allow longer limits/no limits for atleast the Director's account, but I just went & double checked, so it's that limit across the board now (unless you have an existing account that allowed the longer content).

To answer everyone's question in regard to the length it's supposed to be - Read's right as far as what he assumed. This is part of what was posted on Topix.com as far as a press release: www.topix.com/forum/entertainment/TUS8OVM2HDH1M7045 And I quote from your Press Release (bold/color my emphasis): "Los Angeles, CA, March 10, 2008 – The classic 1980s ABC comedy/sci-fi TV series “The Greatest American Hero” will “fly again,” this time on the Web, via a “re-imagined” version of that program from writer/producer/director Caesar Collazo. Collazo has begun production on 13 brand new “webisodes” of “The Greatest American Hero,” with each webisode running 22 minutes.[/color]"

So, the good news is if they stay at 6 plus minutes, we'll have, then, around 66-80 new episodes! Cool! Mona

another thought crossed my mind with regards to the first part of the first episode...and this goes with my earlier thought on what I saw..
1) I really hope they did their homework on the history of TGAH and it'll reflect in the future episodes, and they won't ignore anything from the past.
2) "Johnny D". Once again, if it is HIM, wouldn't he stay away from people who are "super" ? Didn't he learn the hard way from Ralph? If he got out after Ralph gave up the suit, wouldn't he just stay away from Holly? especially if he came back to L.A? If I was him..I'd just go away, and conduct business elsewhere.
Like I said, I hope they cover this to further explain. Please let them have done proper research on the show and history...

okay. just finished watching it..and a few things leapt to mind.. 1) after the opening review from "Heroine", there should've been a.."twenty years later" or something in between that and the first scene in the cemetary. 2) the delivery of the lines needs a bit of improving. don't need it to feel "amateurish". sorry, that's how it looks 3) some points about the suit and "Johnny D". first off, after Holly's murder..wouldn't the suit disintegrate after a few days?? or maybe it teleported back to the ship somehow. so after all of this, it wouldn't be around, and Morgan would need her own. or did she pass it off per the Greenguys okay like Raplh did to Holly?? And wasn't (if it is him..) "Johnny D" in prison?? wouldn't he be at least 60 by now?? wasn't he serving a lengthy sentance after Bill and Ralph got him?? maybe in a nuthouse from his "delusions" of a super-dude?? I hope they really did their homework on this one boys and girls, and I hope they do some of the back story as well to catch us up on things to fill in the gaps that would explain how we got to what we're seeing now. I'll be watching in anticipation 1) I agree 2)I agree again 3)3 that thought also popped in my head but I thought he might be like 80 I also hope that the eps are going to be more than 5 minutes long. 10 would be ok I guess, and if they would at least post a schedule. But I with those points pointed out it seems interesting but too soon to give an over all review. can only give a point out this and that. Thanks. these thoughts came to mind with just seeing 6 mins. i can just imagine what the rest will be like.....

If the eps were 22 minutes then I think once a week would be fine but only 6 mins once a week? Like I said LG 15 posts 5-7 minutes at least 4 days a week and they get a lot done in that time. If I were him I would consider doing that. Leave a cliff hanger for the weekends or something. It just makes more sense given the time frame.

Wow the response here is really cool! I appreciate each and everyone's input. As far as Johnny D and Sarah's involvement or any other "original" character(s) within the web series, I have two words, "Stay Tuned".
As far as how short the chapter was, well hell, our goal this week is to give you ALL OF THE EPISODE NOT CHAPTER BY CHAPTER.
We are speaking to many companies at the moment so that you can see the episodes in their entirety. These type of storage agreements take longer than a couple days and they cost per GB (gigabyte) so we have to look at what packages are best for the series.
Now, I know that most if not all of you have viewed the first chapter, so while we are finding a streaming solution I propose a challenge.... (cue mysterious music here)
How many references to the Original Show did you find in Chapter One? (I know the answer) Remember the references are direct and indirect as well as hidden in almost every scene.
Good luck!
Hmmm maybe this should be a separate thread..... You guys decide!

Well, Mr. Collazo, you're right - after thinking, I did take the plunge and watch the first chapter of the first episode. I have mentioned before that I'd give this group a chance given how people have supported my spinoff, and I will honor that. Unfortunately watching this, I will still be one of the naysayers of this group. As far as overall right now - it's decent, it's overall well made - But it's not true "Greatest American Hero." That said, I will give some kudos first. First, I like the idea of having Morgan as a florist, though I'm not sure that a flower shop of that style would be put into a regular house. It might've worked better if you had an interior shot of a regular house with a counter for sales. It's not uncommon for shops such as florist's and such to be in regular homes, but exterior feels a bit out of joint and highly out of place with the interior you used. Second, I like how Darkman stays in the distance covering things he needs to do. It works well and is intriguing. Even Rocco as far as his threats was good, though the accent is a little irksome. That however, is because most heavies have to have "Joisey" accents I think. Mortimer too is a fun touch, and it'll be interesting to see how his role pans out. Like most I"m not sure yet of Morgan, and Sarah is a bit too young in appearance to really have tied in to the character from the original "GAH." She looks too close to Morgan's age. Voice and acting wise, however, is good because she acts like the older sister. And, the panning from the fade out at the beginning to across the cemetery to Holly's headstone was nicely done. Music matched well for it too. Now with the kudos said, for me, overall this left a lot to be desired so far - and a lot of it is how it's presented. I feel that a lot of this is done a bit choppy, and wasn't quite cohesive. As with Jo, I feel that there wasn't really a need for the whole morning routine bit, and confusing when the previous cemetery scene is in the morning. Maybe breakfast and setting up shop in the house for the day would've been a better start. And, I say house because you have the shot of (title is rough here) "Morgan's Flower Shop" on the sign in front of Holly's old house - and have mentioned in her profile that she works at home online with her florist shop. Some of the acting is a bit poor, such as the Cemetery scene. I felt it was too rushed, and very stilted. A particular note of this was Sarah's "talk to the hand" bit looked very, very staged when Morgan's not even trying to interrupt her. It wasn't as believable as I felt it'd need to be, and the seal on the headstone, while nice, would've had a bit more detail put on it - at least eyes and little lines in the flippers. The biggest issue I have is that this production again made a big shindig about something coming up and it not follow through - at least properly. This happened with the daily blog, newsletters and the trailer (which I was also told later on it was CGI work in November - some of the cast has said otherwise in their blogs). In this case, the episodes was supposed to air on July 4, but three of the four time zones received it on July 5. You just got it up there at 10 minutes to midnight July 4 Pacific. Everyone was expecting to see it on July 4, and thought you'd have it up just before July 3 on iTunes as you said. But no, this didn't happen and made people - some whom I haven't read from in a while here - upset. While I understand that you had to chop it up because of bandwidth/time limits on boards, having taken the classes that you have used for this endeavor and participating in this process, I know that it shouldn't have taken over 20 hours to cut/edit the first episode into sections to post up. I think a lot of people felt the same way - especially since there are whole shows that they show on the sites for NBC, ABC, FOX etc. that are divvyed up in order to keep things moving. Not to mention we have YouTube regular posters whom have had to divide up clips into parts. In fact, I wonder why you didn't just divide the 22 minute episode into four parts and upload each at 5 minutes, and if necessary, put in a TBC after each part and the linking feature in YouTube at least. What we got instead of a full 22 minute ep was a 5 minute episode - with credits - that didn't tell us much if anything at all. Overall, I feel that again disappointed your production. And, I'm not saying this out of the blue: There was a promise made of 22 minute episodes in your press release on Topix.com that I posted above that said it would be "13 brand new “webisodes” of “The Greatest American Hero,” with each webisode running 22 minutes." Add to that what I know what's been done on YouTube and things on and off this board, I feel that again we were given the old "bait and switch" with some contradictions. And, there's not a lot of time left to try and convince me to watch beyond the rest of this first episode (I will consider four 5 min eps one episode given that it is supposed to be 22 mins.) Again, I understand the reasoning behind what happened July 4, but it still does not add up given what I know in broadcast/editing and what has happened since this was announced back in 2007. In my opinion only, I feel as though this first bit was thrown together in order to get something up when promised - but it failed in three time zones, nearly all four zones. And, at least my opinion, it did FAIL to deliver the promised 22 minute episode in all zones. Most of us probably would've rather you said "Apologies - we have been delayed and will post up the first episode in its entirety as soon as possible" on your front page and posted it up in parts, or wait a day or so and post it up in its entirety. It wouldn't have taken much time and would've been fair to the prospective fans of this endeavor. I feel too it'd would've made up for your choice of keeping production under wraps on your community. Instead - I feel the same way as I did before - and it will still take a lot to convince me to change my mind.

MelMac you give good advice and are a true GAH Fan, with that being said we all agree that nothing will ever be as great as the original GAH. It is a timeless piece and we all further agree to disagree.
Though some things at this point may not seem clear or may not make sense to the GAH fans they all pan themselves out within the entire Webisode.
Am I out to win your heart, the answer is simple, Nope. Without all types of feedback then there would not be a need for discussion boards, message boards, blogs, etc. I love the fact that some like, love and even hate it. Reason being is we learn from each other's different perspectives.
This whole experience has made me look at GAH through the eyes of other fans like me. I see where you are coming from, I see where other around the world are coming from in regards to how GAH has influenced their lives and that is the most rewarding thing of all.
SO let's have fun with it good, bad and indifferent.
BTW the "20 Years Later" comment you made the other day was so right on! We all looked at each other and shook our heads, thanks for that comment we added it into the Episode.

- Joey Scarbury singing clip to "Believe it or not"
- Red Longjohns - said by Rocco
- J.J. Dumante reference
- Holly's house complete with the rabbit mailbox and "Anything's Pawsable" sign (though this has been altered to "Morgan's Flower Shop")
- As said earlier - bad guys have similar accents and act a bit dumb (Rocco and Ziti - though the latter doesn't talk)
- An agent of sorts - though this was introduced just before the fade to black.
- In a way a crazy idea/contraption not working properly - Mortimer's mouse trap machine. This is reflective of Bill's wing flaps that Ralph wears in the episode "Now You See It."
- On the headstone - "Teacher" - Holly taught Kindergarten or early grade school.
- Sarah still wears glasses instead of contacts.
- Indirect (unknown reason yet) - Wing and a Prayer Cafe
- Indirect - how they always used a song during some humdrum action as well in the episodes
- Indirect - the seal on Holly's headstone - based on her environmental issues such as the "Save the Whales" plot in "GAHeroine."
- Indirect? - garbled footprint shortly after Scarbury's singing "Believe it or not" - reference to the greenguys and how they communicate on the radio (is yet to be seen if they appear here).

Blip TV has better quality but it's harder to hear. next, if you can't do full eps consider doing daily or every other day mini eps like LG15. It really works. All you have to do is make sure you splice it at a good point. Are you going to run the creds every ep? I understand to give credit where credit is due but maybe you can have an end of week credits to fit more in the mini eps if you have to go that route. Just a thought.

I'm sure you've worked hard on it, but I personally won't be watching this series (despite being a little curious). I have seen the trailer, but I don't really like the idea of the Heroine storyline being continued. I really hated that spin-off episode & it slightly tainted the original series for me, because the character of Ralph in particular was completely undermined! They totally messed with a character, a hero, that I loved as a kid & love even more now. I can't allow a continuation of that horrible tangent into my consciousness, even if it's a well-made show in itself. This is just my personal preference & opinion, not a shot at this project or its makers. Feel the love. dolfyn.
