I'm continuing this topic over here because I think it's detracting from the "Rockford on DVD" thread.... Stephen J. Cannell has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame already. While he is technically eligible for more, I don't think he's the type of guy who is into personal aggrandizement or collecting accolades. What he DOES appreciate is the actors who brought his characters to life, and the fans who watch. Both he and Daniel Hugh Kelly were deeply touched by the fans' efforts in getting Brian Keith a star. I'm sure this would hold true with other actors without stars such as Robert Culp, Robert Conrad, Fred Dryer, or even (gasp) Dirk Benedict.

Though I was joking about Cannell getting a second star in the only digressing comment there (as I didn't remember he had one and as far as I can tell right now couldn't fit the other four star categories), I do agree he appreciates his fellow actors. If he didn't, Connie would've been replaced the moment she said "I'm pregnant." And, I do think that all the actors he's worked with should eventually be eligible for a star. Every actor - whether you like them or not, really can act and show at least some range of acting. Present day stars I think not as much, but they're getting there faster than the truer actors.

Is there a place you can go to find out who has a star already? I would hate to campaign for one for an actor if they have one.

Only Peppard has one from the A-TEAM. Guess I should get busy.

I wonder if anyone has ever submitted Culp or Conrad? Given the body of work these guys have, they would be perfect choices.

Agreed. Stars like James Garner and Peppard have them for their work so other good actors should have them too.

What burns me up is that when I was out there I saw stars for Godzilla, Snow White, and Ryan Seacrest.

Not sure about Culp, but Conrad I think has had a submission (and neither he nor Ross Martin from "Wild Wild West" have stars and both should). Yet, there are factors in there that people might be considering that they shouldn't, i.e. if the person was easy to work with and such. The other reason that neither might not have had a submission might depend if the actor wanted to be nominated. You have to have a letter from either the actor or his management saying it's fine in order to have the petition considered. If you don't have it, you won't be considered.

What burns me up is that when I was out there I saw stars for Godzilla, Snow White, and Ryan Seacrest. Hmm... add Tinkerbell to this list for this year's group. Thing is, they tend to also overlook well rounded actors with good - if sometimes storied - careers to what's hip and in. I don't see any of these three doing any real community service that is part of the consideration process, and Seacrest really only has ONE thing to his credit - "AI." At least Godzilla has made many movies and Snow White/Tinkerbell are both ambassadors (of sorts) for Walt Disney.

Makes you think that now the Walk of Fame is more of a popularity contest than a talent contest.

I just realized that Seacrest has one. What a waste. It seems they are making it more of a mockery than adding people on the basis of talent. A shame really.

Yep - popularity over talent, doubly so because the "popular" ones right now can get the sponsorship money pretty quickly. Doubt any will reach Gene Autry's ranks though and get all five stars.

You never know. There could be more posthumous ones awarded...and any more it seems that more and more actors/singers/etc. are diversifying and trying new things.

True, but I think one of the categories will be very difficult to receive - because it's a rarely used medium. But, you're right, there might be several who receive one that are posthumous. I'd do a petition for Ross Martin, but I don't know if there's enough interest, nor many people remember him.

I have it on good authority that Mr. Culp was approached shortly after Brian Keith received his posthumous one in 2008. He was not interested. Has he been, I'd be the first to break out the checkbook!
