So William Katt announced at the Comic Con that Cannell finished the script for the new movie and there will be an online comic and animated series.
So my work has come to a holt. No comic or animated series from me.

I agree... don't see why you can't still do it, especially if people still write fanfiction. What you have is very good, and it should still be completed in my opinion.

Yeah...you don't have to stop. Alternate universes, and all that... works for the big boys, so why not?

Wait a minute. Hate to be a bad guy here, but I don't see why everyone is going (or most people) are going ga-ga over a new movie, a comic book series by William Katt, and some online webisode thing...which I will explain in uno momento. First: NO ONE should stop writing fan fiction or producing their own versions of TGAH or TGAHINE. If I recall correctly, Star Trek the Next Generation actively took "on spec" scripts which really added a lot of intelligence and substance to the series. I recall Dyson consulting on a script in fact. The fans sometimes understand the characters and "universe" better than the actors and producers! I for one, will fully support any "derivative work" as long as it in done tastefully and in the manner which upholds the fundamental principles of TGAH. It is way too bad that SJC didn't take that track - oh, like 10 years ago. Fans, keep writing! Which leads to second: So, lets understand this...the DVDS "flew off the shelf" which led to the creation of a Ralph, Bill, Pam renessaince. OK, SJC is a Businessman first. So, he sees the $$$ in a prospective movie. What is disturbing is the PG rating and tack toward the comic booky...the complete opposite direction that all superhero movies are going, which is what Cannell ORIGINALLY did with TGAH in 1980. He broke the mold from "comic booky crap" into more realistic storylines and everyday hero play (with some network mandated stuff). All TGAH updated would need, is a little tweaking on the characters and a full throttle bad guy (who is human, warped, and plotting some Presidential overthrow). Quite frankly, I don't want to see a TV version dumbed up and comic booked down for today's audience. This movie is destined to fail, evidently the guy didn't learn a thing from either the busts that were "Get Smart" or the darkened, realistic direction of "The Dark Knight". Which brings me to: THIRD: Why in the world is everyone supporting anything that William Katt does? Uh, maybe my memory is fuzzy, but that guy hated the suit and acting in it, and absolutely did NOT want to reprise his role as the red-jammied Ralph. I recall some interviews where he was rather negative about the show and certainly did not support its return. TGAHine came about because Robert Culp, who had a glorious career, loved Bill Maxwell's character and wanted to see it go as far as possible. Plus he recognized the show's quality. Connie Sellecca has always been positive as well. Uh, TGAHine has a memory wipe aspect because - there was to never again be a Ralph Hinkley - endorsed fully by William Katt. The reason why the show never saw the air again for close to 30 (THIRTY) years is because KATT did not want to do it. I believe he felt he was destined for some superstardom which of course, thankfully, never came. All the guy has is Perry Mason with mommy and TGAH to discuss. He was reason why TGAH did not return, even though everyone else would have loved to do another round. His motives for any type of TGAH comeback are questionable at best, except of course for the $$$ he and the "franchise" think they can wangle from us discretionary-income-rich working class 30 - 50 somethings and our kids. Ladies and gentleman, many years ago, SJC and Katt and the others had plenty - I mean plenty of opportunity to do comic books, TV on sci-fi channel or other cable channels that were more hospitable than the "network", and other mediums. They chose to wait until a crescendo of market opportunity, this from an innovative and somewhat ground-breaking show that really ushered in the "Dark Age/Realistic Age" for superheroism. TGAH has gone from a novel idea to a commercial bank done from desire to "change the world" (innovatively) to gee lets make some money for retirement. I for one cannot support an endeavor motivated by greed and opportunistic behavior --- isn't that what J.J. Beck said was his downfall???

#1 Everybody is entitled to ones opinion. #2 Yes it was true that he didn't like the suit, but from what he says in an interview was that he was young and looking back he would have pushed it to go longer. #3 William Katt is a top notch actor and is very much underrated. Have you seen the movie House ... great acting also the TV show House ... again, more great acting and Perry Mason … you got it … great acting. To be 100% honest … he would have made a better Skywalker then Mark Hamill any day hands down. So what that his mom is famous, this guy can act and would make you believe in whatever character he is playing. #4 I agree that fans should still keep making GHA #5 I believe I speak for everybody when I say … I do not care what the motives are for the recent interests, be it a movie, comic book, webisodes, merchandise, money, etc ... It doesn’t matter. What matters is that it’s getting done. We all love the characters and what William Katt did with it. I respect that he is realizing that GAH is an untapped gem. #6 Get Smart ... the TV show ... sucked to begin with, so the movie tanking is no surprise. The reason why GAH Movie will take off and make a pretty penny … Because people will want to see it. Get Smart … I know of nobody who wanted to see that. # 7 Yes GAHion had a memory wipe aspect … but if you recall … All 3 of them kept their memory. So in closing, I am sorry that you feel so negatively about all the hoopla and craziness over William Katt’s new endeavors. The only thing I can say is, you either are a fan or not. For me and the rest of everybody in here … we are. I hope you will change your outlook and join the rest of in the hoopla and craziness and have fun with it. That is why we are all here.

Mr Yates is surely entitled to his decision. I know that myself & others shall continue our fan fics infinitum. Which leads to second: So, lets understand this...the DVDS "flew off the shelf" which led to the creation of a Ralph, Bill, Pam renessaince. OK, SJC is a Businessman first. So, he sees the $$$ in a prospective movie. This movie is destined to fail, evidently the guy didn't learn a thing from either the busts that were "Get Smart" or the darkened, realistic direction of "The Dark Knight". Which brings me to: This is an age where apparently everything has to be edgy. Why is it so bad that someone decides their project should be PG rated & suited for family viewing? This movie could've been easily PG13 or R rated, but it won't be. I applaud SJC for that. The things in movies that garner those ratings are, frankly, not necessary. I personally think it's going to be a smart retelling that will surprise alot of people. THIRD: Why in the world is everyone supporting anything that William Katt does? Uh, maybe my memory is fuzzy, but that guy hated the suit and acting in it, and absolutely did NOT want to reprise his role as the red-jammied Ralph. I recall some interviews where he was rather negative about the show and certainly did not support its return. He was reason why TGAH did not return, even though everyone else would have loved to do another round. Because Katt has had a true change of heart with his feelings on the Suit. All throughout the show & thereafter, he hated those Jammies. But, since then, he's come the realization of what that Suit meant to the fans & the characters. Thing is, this is a glass half empty, half full argument. It's true, there would be no further appearances of GAH if Katt hadn't come to his realization. Did Katt think he was destined for stardom? I don't remember ever hearing that about him & I've read alot about him. And that's why I am a big fan of his. His motives for any type of TGAH comeback are questionable at best, except of course for the $$$ he and the "franchise" think they can wangle from us discretionary-income-rich working class 30 - 50 somethings and our kids. But isn't that what everyone's after nowadays? So why is it so different if Katt jumps on the bandwagon? Ladies and gentleman, many years ago, SJC and Katt and the others had plenty - I mean plenty of opportunity to do comic books, TV on sci-fi channel or other cable channels that were more hospitable than the "network", and other mediums. They chose to wait until a crescendo of market opportunity, this from an innovative and somewhat ground-breaking show that really ushered in the "Dark Age/Realistic Age" for superheroism. Things happen. No one "waited" for a certain moment. This just happened to be the time when Katt & Co. (both the GAH & comic book groups) got together with a chance to create & recreate. TGAH has gone from a novel idea to a commercial bank done from desire to "change the world" (innovatively) to gee lets make some money for retirement. I for one cannot support an endeavor motivated by greed and opportunistic behavior --- isn't that what J.J. Beck said was his downfall??? It's no different than any other remake. frankly, I think a smart remake is better than a dumb new idea. Heaven knows Hollywood's had enough of those new ideas lately. As always, to each their own.

Wait a minute. Hate to be a bad guy here, but I don't see why everyone is going (or most people) are going ga-ga over a new movie, a comic book series by William Katt, and some online webisode thing... Well, it IS a favorite show of ours, and to see it come into fruition like this is fantastic! I'm sure you agree. which I will explain in uno momento. Don't remember anyone saying to stop writing fanfiction or fan films. As long as it's done the right way, and not fodder for the next version of Mystery Science Theater 3000, it's all well and good with me. Stuff like this takes time. Not sure what the problem is about this. Hang on a second there. He's doing it for families so those of us our age can enjoy it with those of us who happen to have children or younger family members that may enjoy it. Otherwise imho you have Halle Berry in Catwoman. I do believe from what I've heard in the interviews and videos that they ARE doing it like that and keeping it real and still portraying Ralph as a normal everyday guy. That's what Culp said in his video about the show, and I would think they would try to continue that. You can't fly without taking those first three steps. You have to TRY and see if it works or fails. If there's enough fan base, which apparently there is. Why not? Well now, apparently WK has redeemed himself. He says he "gets it" now. With his publishing company and him being one of the stars of the show. Who else to be a main part of this? Now, for Culp and Maxwell Maniacs I mean no harm but lets lay it all out. Wasn't there a mention somewhere at a horror con or something that Culp wasn't all THAT interested in GAH or Maxwell? Plus, how about his website that barely has any pics from GAH. So that goes both ways. That, plus some bad script writing and character acting that was in GAHeroine. The plot holes in this have been mentioned several times on the board here. Anyone living, breathing in Hollywood right now is about $$$ with maybe the passion of acting, writing, directing. I'm sorry ralphssister, but I don't understand where you get the idea that they're out just to make money and that they're doing it all just for greed and opportunistic behavior. Yes, fanfiction is good. I even took a crack at writing it, something I didn't think I would do other than make fun of the B-movie versions of fanfics that are out there ala a MST3K version of fanfiction. I enjoyed one story I did and I think all the fanfiction writers should keep going on, same goes for fan films. But... Compare the fan versions to an official version that involves the original folks? Who WOULDN'T jump for that? An official comic book series over a fan fiction story written by joe q. public? A hopefully possible official movie being made from a script that was written over some rinky dink fan film that have lackluster production qualities or research attempts. To quote Vince McMahon from WWE.. it may be all about... the moneeeeyyyy... but if it's official and it seems like the people into it, whom happen to be from the original are seriously heartfelt into it (which I think they are) then I am VERY for it. Don't take offense to anything I've said, ralphssister. I just felt like I needed to reply and as you see I have some strong feelings about this. Yeah, I was a bit cautious when the DVDs came out and I hadn't seen the show since 20 years, but one episode stayed in my memory and it was because of that I tried it out to see if I still would like the show. I apparently do, and all this news is overwhelming. I am seriously excited about this and I hope others are.

My only concern with Katt being kind of in charge and a main writer is the fear that Ralph will primarily be the focus of the stories, with Bill not having the kind of front page equality he had in the show and of course deserves. But, I have also have hope that Katt understands Maxwell's vitality and importance to the show and will treat his Fed friend accordingly in the stories; also, of course, feedback from fans will occur (at least from this fan if Maxwell is not there one on one with Ralph). I also worry about Katt's interpretation of Maxwell, which is, in my opinion, based on the show's episodes, a more complicated character than Ralph, as I have no idea if Katt fully grasps the full and rich personality of Maxwell. But, time will tell! Of course I fully support all the TGAH action that is occurring and can only cross my fingers that Maxwell is perfectly represented.

OK HOLD THE PHONE!!!!! First off what the heck is all the Katt bashing??? He is doing something that we all want. HE of all people knows that to do it back then, it might not have made the cut because of the time. Doing it when the time is right is better. What a better way to bring it back when the time is right. It might not have been successful to do it then.
Sure he may have bashed the suit in the beginning but we all grow and learn and as he said "he gets it now'. But his attitude then also made the show that much more real. He did say they "all played it real" which is why the show worked! We have all had our moment of young and stupid. And don't say you haven't.
They all cared about the show. And when a jump the shark ep made it past they all approached Cannell and said "what the heck is this?"
Watch the interviews on the DVD's, Next. William is going to be fair as far as the stories. He is not self centered to make them all about Ralph. He of all people knows the team is all 3. and he of all people knows what we want. He listens to his fans and he cares about the show!
We are supporting him because he is doing something that we want to be seen, done! Even though he may have disliked the suit in the beginning, he understood what the show was about as they ALL did. But HE loved doing the show! And they ALL had a hand in what happened.
He is doing it because it's the right time and I have every faith that it will be done right!

I don't if you were referring to my comments as being "Katt bashing", but if so, I disagree with that labeling. I don't think it's "Katt bashing" to honestly wonder about the presentation of a character that was not Katt's character. However, with Cannell basically holding the reins of everything, I'm feeling pretty good about all the characters coming off wonderfully.
This should be quite fun and wonderful for all TGAH fans.

Spoken by the man himself! He said "We will stay true to the characters" And as far as his career, he has done more than perry mason. They asked WK (and guaranteed him 3 years) if he would come back to play Ralph. But he was already doing Perry so he couldn't. Again, I know everything he is doing will be a success and he will not let us down!
