Well it's been three years now and still no sign of Blu-Ray. I've actually read many times that most TV shows don't do very well on Blu-Ray. Except maybe Star Trek and a few others. As stated above with promos, bummpers, bloopers, original music, et al. it would make a great set. It would also cost a lot for a company to take the time to make the original GAH episode ratios to 16x9 HD. That is also Blu-Ray look and sound way better than a DVD. The DVDs look and sound great though.
All that being said have any of you folks that posted above updated to Blu-Ray yet? I'm just wondering because now with a Blu-Ray player I have no need for DVD player any longer. Being that Blu-Ray plays both BD and DVDs. I now use my VHS player more than a DVD player.
Still would be cool to see GAH in 16x9 HD.

So much that for a guy who thought he had noticed most everything one could about details in certain episodes the upconverted quality has brought a few more things to my attention. I will be adding to the NOTES section of the main website after I make it through the rest of the series. I would love to see the show in Blu-Ray.

I'm holding out on Blu Ray and waiting to see what happens with technology. They really should be moving on to streaming video and/or combining the Internet with the Television.

I'm not worrying about Blu-Ray. My DVDs play just fine.

I'm not worrying about Blu-Ray. My DVDs play just fine. Yeah exactly. I mean the only annoying thing is when some of the newer special features end up on the Blu Ray versions instead of the DVD, lol.

Hi all, i just this letter to Mill Creek today! Of course I want more special features and better quality than the Millcreek DVDs, but here it is so far: Hello! I'm a huge fan of your company, and have enjoyed so many of your tv show box sets over the years. I've noticed that some of your "Complete Series" sets that were released even a few years ago are now out of print. eBay and Amazon vendors are getting big dollars for these sets now. My question is - after seeing that there is a new full set on blu-ray of the show Airwolf, is there any chance of doing a full blu-ray set of The Greatest American Hero? I'm not sure if Mill Creek still retains the rights to this show, but seeing how fast they have sold out of DVDs sets, I'm guessing the blu-ray set would do well. I know that the DVDs from Anchor Bay were also sold out pretty fast.
I have tons of other questions, but i'm just grateful you took the time to read my letter and hopefully answer my question above.
Thanks! Peter www.peterdamore.com
I'll let you know how they reply!

Bummer... Hopefully another company takes the reigns. Here is Mill Creeks reply.
" Sorry, but we no longer have the distribution rights to The Greatest American Hero. Thank you for contacting Mill Creek Entertainment."
Someone has to have access to anchor Bay's cleaned up versions, because the Millcreek ones are (were?) 'meh' in quality .

Thanks for the welcome! Love watching this show in spring for some reason - this is my third time watching all the way through since 2007, and I'm enjoying this forum and the podcast for this round!

Based on the Mill Creek reply my guess is that no one currently holds any rights for production of DVD/Blu rays from the Cannell Catalog. That's too bad, even though MC crams too many episodes to a disc (that's why they looked worse than Anchor Bays sets) they did release several Cannell series that had not come out before, and continued others. There still remain some Cannell product that's never been released, let's hope the next company to license out the shows give us some yet unreleased material, and some blu-ray versions of some of our favorites.
Glad you are enjoying rewatching the episodes again. It's always fun reading or listening on someones take about the show, and then going back and watching to see what was talked about.

I would probably be re-purchasing the series on Blu-ray if it ever became available in that format. However, my set---which is the box set in the black "limited edition" metal case from Anchor Bay---has always worked very well and the picture quality is more than fine.

The Japanese blu-rays while better than any of the DVD releases, are NOT of remastered quality. I'd love to see the series just get a blu-ray release scanned from the film prints,(I have the sneaking suspicion that the discs from Japan are upscaled) and remastered TGAH would be a dream. For what they are the Japan discs were wayyyyyy overpriced, but at least all the original music is intact.

I wasn't aware of any Japanese TGAH Blu-rays.
