MMmmmmm okay. Alternative universe. LOL... that's the beauty of boards like this - one can debate whether or not it's canon. No one is ever right or wrong. The last four episodes are another one that people debate about whether or not they're canon. Some say yes because they were meant to be aired but weren't first run, others say no for that reason, and some yo-yo a lot on the issue. And, some say that if you consider the last four eps canon, you should consider "GAHeroine" canon because it's aired in syndication. Sometimes I think I need a flow chart to figure out the debates on the canon of "GAHeroine" and other episodes. Probably why I just say it's not canon and hardly watch it.

Madness. The last 4 episodes are *CANON*. We must deal with it. We're not Cannell... ;D

Madness. The last 4 episodes are *CANON*. We must deal with it. We're not Cannell... ;D I think we have the right to believe for ourselves whether things are canon or not. Why shouldn't we? I mean, if this was a show were the creator tried to be the least bit consistent and actually create a canon, well, that's one thing.
But Cannell himself couldn't decide what was canon or not! Mr. Hanley? Bill's various ages? The Carlisle Twins? The disappearing Hinkley (or is that Hanley?) boy-child, Kevin? The fake Rhonda? The Phoney Baloney Tony?
Why should we have to follow along with his schizophrenia?
Seriously, for a discussion on The Greatest American Canon, go here.

All EXCELLENT points, Jo!
Obviously, we have so many discrepancies all throughout the show, that personal choice is the only way to go with deciding canon/non-canon throughout all the episodes.
Don't forget Bill's saying "I love you" to the person he was talking to on the phone early in "Here's Looking At You, Kid"--just who was he saying that to? Harlan? A girlfriend who disappeared into the black hole which took Kevin? A relative we were supposed to meet and never did?

But I believe that Time Travel is canon in the GAH universe.
So case closed.

The only thing I'll argue about the Hanley/Hinkley issue is that had there not been a John Hinckley who tried to assassinate Reagan, Ralph would've always been Ralph Hinkley. That was a no choice, so I don't debate that issue as canon or not. The others... yeah, there's the question of canon.

I have to whole-heartedly agree. We should all make up our own canon. Why leave it up to that know-nothing Cannell? Why, he couldn't even decide what the emblem should look like from one season to the next.
Therefore, based on the above, I too shall choose my own canon. I proclaim that when Ralph tries to fly, he has the ability to change his appearance to look like some dude named Dennis. He can even pass the same power onto Bill, as long as Bill curls his hair first.
I also proclaim that Ralph can teleport into a car with the windows rolled up. For that matter, he can withstand a laser blast, but doing so causes his belt buckle to rotate. Those wacky green guys!
I also proclaim that The Greatest Ameircan Heroine is CANON! Why? Because it stars Robert Culp as Bill Maxwell. And (guest-)stars William Katt as Ralph Hinkley, and Connie Sellecca as his wife Pamela. And it has a red supersuit with a familiar emblem, and green guys. And it was produced by Stephen J Cannell, and written by a member of his staff, etc etc ad nauseum.
Oh, hell, while I'm at it, I think Collazo's TGAH 2008 is canon. Why? Why the %^@$ not?! I love a skirt dressed up in magic jammies. I'm basing canon on my personal preferences, right?!
P.S.: I think The A-Team should be part of TGAH canon, too, for all the reasons J-Man has ever mentioned...

I'm almost sure that MARK HARRIS is canon in the 'GAH' universe. He teached Ralph to breath underwater...

Agreed on the A-TEAM, MyTatuo. I have always believed that the last four episodes of GAH and that HEROINE are part of the GAH canon and universe. I see HEROINE as a continuation of the same timeline and not an alternate one. I know people will disagree, but that is what makes discussions about it fun in my mind.

They didn't air those because ABC is stupid. You can't blame canonicity for that.

What about him? I thought we were talking about HEROINE and the fact that you think it is an alternate universe and others do not think so.

This is my conclusion:
BY EVERYONE'S INTENTIONS, it ('GAHeroine') belongs to the ordinary *GAH UNIVERSE*. There is no REAL reason to dismiss it.
BUT... if you're upset the way Ralph's story arc was given closure, you can assume it's an alternative universe (MORE FOOD for great fan fiction stories - RALPH Vs. RALPH).
