You know, I kinda like this ep. It's above "mediocre" but of course it's no "Beast in the Black," but it's still got some good bits. I like how Bill says he hardly knows Tim, after five years, yet look at everything Bill does for the guy, even after getting shot at by him. I don't see any other Feds at the psych ward visiting the dude, do you?
Also, something I just noticed which I had to replay; I can't believe I missed it before, watching friend's DVD. In the restaurant, after the hypnotist finishes her show, she's going around the audience to break them from the hypnotic suggestion, which was triggered by the word "birdcage". Bill says that word in his little tirade, and in the background you can see a guy pass out, asleep! LOL, that was a good bit, and easy to miss if you're not paying attention.
I hate the part when Tim succeeds in killing himself, that sucks.
Here's a little addition, and when Ralph asked Bill this, I was surprised there wasn't a smart-alecky reply:
Ralph: What would you do without me? Bill: I don't know.
Speaks volumes for their friendship.

Well, obviously, it was a very subtle scene; but they'd have to wake up pretty early in the morning to slip anything past you, billswoman. Hard to believe Cannell & Co thought they'd be able to slip that one past a sharp cookie like you, isn't it?

Hmmmm, now i can't tell if you're having me on or not.... was it that obvious, then? I'm always so focused on Bill, maybe everyone does notices the little background scene. I only did cuz I was trying to get a good screencap of Bill (didn't get one, but yours is awesome!) and realized after playing it about four times that this guy kept falling down.

I noticed it...and I DO pay the attention to Maxwell. For different reasons probably, but I pay attention.

LOL, I love in the car when Ralph learns the trigger word from Pam, and he's arguing with Bill about it. Bill puts himself out, again, and Ralph just says, "Oh brother!" and leaves Bill out of it till they arrive at the dam finally. Then he says, "Scenario!" to wake Bill up once more, argument overwith (for now.)

It's great when Bill keeps putting himself out with it...it is also great when Ralph is trying to think of everything Bill says and is using it to see if it works...like garbanzo beans.

I mentioned this in the All Bill, All the Time thread, but this ep revealed a great mystery about Mr. Maxwell:
He left the Army as a Master Sergeant.
Go to that thread for more detail.

Where is that at in the episode? I cannot remember the scene and I don't feel like watching it at the moment, although since I missed something I probably will anyway. For the sake of my lazy keister...where is that scene, please?

Here's what I put in the "All Bill" thread: While watching "The Hand-painted Thai," I realized it shows Bill's rank on his 72nd Armored Division jacket! After many screencaps and magnifications, I've established what it was: He was an E-8 Master Sergeant (MSG): From the US Army site: "Principal NCO at the battalion level, and often higher. Not charged with all the leadership responsibilities of a 1SG, but expected to dispatch leadership and other duties with the same professionalism." Now, he may've earned this rank AFTER he got shot in Korea. I'm going to go with him being a Sergeant First Class, one rank down, because it fits in with what I said earlier, about him being Winslow's right-hand man. This is what it says about SFC: " Key assistant and advisor to the platoon leader." Maybe I'll have him get a promotion at my story finale, I don't know yet.

I never thought to look at his jacket. Thanks.

I don't like how Timothy Liter is portrayed. For being an ex soldier and an agent in the FBI, you think he could have easily drilled Bill full of holes from three feet away...but missed three times. He is also the only one under the hypnosis to speak while under. The other two we see don't say anything to anybody, but Liter does when telling Tony to drive the bus. Not portrayed well...although he did a good death dive.

Why did Ralph have the suit on the school bus at all? He told Bill that he did not wear it to bed either...so why did he have it with him at all? It was the same in THE LOST DIABLO...he had it for no real reason..although Bill had asked him to wear it that time. Why here? Did he want Ralph to influence the game or something?

I do like how Bill was smart enough to get off the elevator every so often and check to see if Tim was there. Very intelligent idea. I wonder if they realize they left Rhonda behind at the FBI building.

If they were not going to either sedate him or restrain him, they should have at least put him on the bottom floor of the hospital.

Why did they let Bill get away with saying Oriental "gink?" That is pretty racist, unless meant in a different way than it sounds...similar to how SJC has Murdock call B.A. a "mudsucker" maybe?

Nice touching moment...although easy to overlook.

Nice ending with capitalism winning out over Communism. Loved the Colonel Fong character.

I'm watching this, and when they're in the FBI bullpen, after Tim's done his death-dive, and Bill's getting coffee and out like a light, look at the bulletin board behind the agent talking to Bill.
It's got a picture of two blonde girls in very skimpy outfits, right next to the "Ridesharing" poster.
I'm surprised Carlisle allows that in there!

Well, he is too busy noticing their socks to stand up straight and look at the pictures on the wall. Good catch, Billswoman. I have not seen this in ages, but I find that picture funny all the time.

Yep, socks and suede shoes... Carlisle sure knows how to nit-pick for demerits it seems. (I have a set of shoes like Bill's and I have to admit, they're pretty comfortable.)
