How old was Holly when they gave her the suit? In 1986... Unknown, but Mary Ellen Stuart was about 24-25 at the time. She does at least look her age or possibly a little older.

I would guess about the same as Mel. She would have had to gone to college and get a job teaching and that tends to be at least four years. We can probably assume that she had to have worked a few years in order to be able to adopt Sarah, so I would put Mel's guess pretty close to accurate.

OK, I'm confused - Holly says that Sarah is her foster daughter. Does that mean she's adopted or it's just temporary care?

I think it is probably a foster daughter. That does not mean that she could not or would not adopt her though. The way they presented Holly, I see it as being a temporary stage until full adoption could happen.

IMHO, 25 should work. Or even 26?

I assume she was 24, definitely.

I assume she was 24, definitely. I think 24 is a good age for Holly, simply because she did have a stronger naivete than Ralph did. She thought more into what the suit could do instead of how it could ruin her life. Older you get, the more you tend to worry about how stuff will affect you instead of live a bit more free-spirited. (I was surprised, however, to see MES in a Rooms-To-Go commercial here. She has aged rather well over the years).

I am not sure how old she was. I think we can all probably agree that she was over 22 since she probably had some form of degree to teach. However, Ralph was not THAT much older. He is only 28ish in season three so that would have put them both around the same possible age getting the suit. I don't feel that Ralph was any less naive than Holly...he just had different things going on his life that affected him differently than what her priorities did for her.

Mind you, I've always assumed Ralph was much older than 28... I was naive, surely! LOL.
In my mind, he looked 32 or even 33.

William Katt was actually about 32 or 33 by then in real life (he was 29/30 when he first put on the suit). That said, in the episode "The Price is Right," Ralph is celebrating his 10th high school reunion, which would put him at about 28 or 29. Most students here graduate between ages 17-19, hence the assumption on our parts.

Unless Ralph was not very bright or motivated like Tony and didn't graduate until he was in his 20's. Maybe that is why Ralph has such a fondness for Tony. Kindred spirits.

Now, I don't know about California, but here in Texas, you are only required to go to school until you're I believe at most 20. And, I'd say anyone who marries a great gal as Pam, he'd have to show some smarts.
