Connie is stunning, but I am not sure this is a series I will buy. I will have to go and make sure first that it is worth it. Go Go Gadget Netflix! ;D

Go Go Gadget Netflix! ;D If it's still up, the pilot of "Hotel" is on YouTube. You will have to deal with the ABC movie bumpers each go, and the quality will not be good due to it being originally VHS or Beta, but other than that it's there. I am going to save up for the season - I personally like the show, and remember watching it at times growing up. Hopefully, there will be enough buyers to keep them releasing it, unlike another good show "Barney Miller" which only released one season out of I think three or four.

Go Go Gadget Netflix! ;D Hey, HD - if you look on YouTube, there are scenes where Connie is dressed in an evening gown and other nice outfits in "Hotel." Haven't seen one where she's in a swimsuit though - only in "Flying High" and "GAH." The one outfit I'd say was the oddest she's been in was "Beyond Westworld" where her double is wearing a short sleeve shirt, those short athletic shorts and knee high sports socks and pretending to be a cheerleader. She made it work mind you, but it still was interesting - almost beats the "Carlini" purple outfit she wears at the warehouse.

I might try and rent HOTEL when it comes out on DVD. I am not sure it will hold my interest enough to purchase.

I might try and rent HOTEL when it comes out on DVD. I am not sure it will hold my interest enough to purchase. I think if you like "The Love Boat" - or can at least tolerate that show (And I mean original, "The Next Wave" was a farce IMHO) - you'll like "Hotel." It has a similar style of writing - new guests each week with different stories along with the main cast. Unlike "Love Boat" however, "Hotel" is much more sophisticated, more like a nighttime soap than a comedy.

Well, then I probably won't like HOTEL. THE LOVE BOAT was awful.

Well, then I probably won't like HOTEL. THE LOVE BOAT was awful. It's not nearly as corny - trust me. The pilot's on YouTube if you want to see and test it for yourself.

It seems to be a mix of THE LOVE BOAT and DYNASTY.

It seems to be a mix of THE LOVE BOAT and DYNASTY. "Dynasty" was the campiest of the nighttime soaps IMHO. You really make "Hotel" sound really campy - I don't think Christine Francis (Connie) ever fought with someone in a fountain. But, to each his own - I'm looking forward to purchasing it, if also to give the companies head's up that we'd like to see more of Connie's work released on DVD. Out of the three, hers are hardly released - DVD or VHS for that matter.

Okay, okay. DALLAS.

Okay, okay. DALLAS. "Dallas" - as far as I know no one in "Hotel" throws someone into a pool to fight with them. That was quite common in that show. And for "Falcon Crest" - as far as I understand no one in "Hotel" sets the hotel on fire twice, unlike the mansion in "Falcon Crest." (I could go on, but won't.... Besides, I remember watching "Hotel" and liked it for its sophistication even with a couple of campier storylines. Good example is the one where it's a set of a movie. That ep features Robert Culp, though he and Connie do not actually share any scenes together.)

I got the first season DVD collection about two weeks ago, and have watched several of the episodes. So far, they all have been very good. It's nice to see bits and pieces from the book be woven into some of the stories, as well as have serious as well as comedic stories interwoven. It's basically a more mature version of "The Love Boat" (though Fred Grandy as Gopher there will always be one of my top two favorite characters of all time. ) Now, as far as her role, while Christine Francis (Connie's character) tends to be a little bit stereotypical at times (not due to her acting), she still does a very good job. She doesn't have huge roles at first, even with the second from top billing, but they're still decent scenes. (And - for those who like to see her in swimsuits and such - there are a couple of episodes she's in pajamas as well as fancier outfits.) It's been a while since I've seen the entire series, but I do think that Christine starts becoming stronger as the seasons progressed, just like she was in the book. Only disappointment was no easter eggs or bonus features - but like with other shows, that just might not be possible with the series. That said, I can see why Connie would choose to stay with the series instead of return to the role of Pam for "GAH" though it was moot when Katt chose to stay with "Perry Mason."

I've been trying to see if the second season of "Hotel" will be coming out soon. Don't know exactly who's going to be there, but I do think the season had the one with Culp as a guest. Sad he didn't get to work with Connie in that series, but it was neat to see at least the two work on the same show.
Did watch the pilot again recently and do agree with fans that Bette Davis was more in tune with the head of the hotel in the book. I wish they'd allowed her to come back for a few episodes off and on after she recovered, but sadly they decided to stay with the change and continue on.
And - I found out recently they actually made a martini I believe that is named the St. Gregory at the hotel that they used for the facade. They had a special event for the release of the first season at the hotel, which included free viewings of the pilot episode.

When will the next season? The price of season 1 is too expensive it did not help sales ...

When will the next season? The price of season 1 is too expensive it did not help sales ... I had read that season 2 was supposed to be out early this year; however, it could be delayed or out and I don't know about it. I didn't even know "Barney Miller" had a second season out until I found a copy at FYE when they were closing down.

The Barney Miller releases are STILL driving me crazy.
They waited FOUR YEARS from the Season 1 release to finally release 2 (and did a great job on the Season 2 release, by the way).
Then (shock!) they only waited a year to release Season 3 on DVD (and did an even BETTER job on that release).
Now? Nothing since. And Season 3 came out March 17, 2009.
ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Yeah, and the weirdest thing there is that there are only FOUR seasons. Yet, you can get the previous season of some current shows within a week. Liked "Barney Miller" a lot myself - and seeing the day to day lives of our officers here, I can see why people say it's closer to the actual daily lives of workers in the department.
