I'm not big on Jack Black as well and was concerned with the remake for King Kong. I did see it and Jack Black was actually good in it. Though, as far as him being Ralph I dunno. I see him more as Bill than Ralph if anything. Did Jack Black go and buff up or something? Or maybe he already was and I never noticed? Ralph's character has to be in great shape, like Katt was. I may be a Maxwell Maniac, but dayum, Katt did look good in that suit As far as I know, Ashton Kutcher's in great shape too, although I haven't seen many pics of him lately. Demi's prolly keeping him in top form, heh.

If it were a choice between Kutcher and Wilson for Ralph or the suit wearer, I would rather it be Wilson. He has a better range (and yes, it's not much) than Kutcher does. Everything I've seen Kutcher in he's the same character that I saw on "That '70s Show."
I would be happy with just about anyone as Ralph so long as they can show a range in acting (serious and humorous) and fit a logical age for the character. I read somewhere someone considered Adam Sandler as a possible choice. While I can't say he'd be perfect, he's shown a good range of characters from serious to humorous and in between. Jim Carrey would also work in that regard because he's done both rather well - one reason I wouldn't mind him as Murdoch so much now in "The A-Team" movie if offered (a few years ago, yeah... it'd be a different story).

I'd say anyone outside of Keanu Reeves has a better range than Kutcher, I just cannot stand Owen Wilson. His voice is like nails down a blackboard to me, I mean, EEWWWWW!!! Now his brother Luke Wilson... rowr rowr.

Now his brother Luke Wilson... rowr rowr. I can see your point on his voice - it is a little high pitched. Then again, so is Katt's. If Owen could refine his voice some it might not be so bad. Now, if he used the voice he uses in "Night at the Museum" (I haven't seen the sequel)... then I'd worry. He's a little TOO Texas/country accent there. Even a West Texas accent (pretty distinct) is not that strong. You know, you're right on Reeves too: I like him as an actor, but he seems to either be too serious (Matrix) or too surfer dude (Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure). Will say one other thing - there's a guy who can parody Reeves that was on MadTV - and did an excellent interpretation of him as the surfer dude. ;D

This was from an episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000, where Mike (the main character/host of the show) did an impression of Reeves' character from Bill and Ted saying "I will GO to Count Dracula." I know it's character stereotyping, but it made a lot of sense back then.

What? No takers for Tom Cruise to be Ralph? He doesn't need the suit to be bouncing around everywhere... ... and as Vid said he has to face a bunch of rogue evil green guys from the planet aroearsoigddiekg'seogg-x((stoeskg.s;aghs. (BTW, that's not to be confused with our favorite greenguy's planet of aroearsoigddiekg'seogg-x((stoeskg.s;aghsand2/3.85. )

Yep, he was in the Canon commercials, and yes they were odd pictures that were supposed to I guess show how much he oozed charisma. I've never found him to be a strong actor and hope they seriously reconsider casting him. There are better actors that work for FOX that would fit the role of Ralph better. Seriously, I wasn't too fond of Wilson initially, but I will root for him over Kutcher. While he'd not be as strong of a Ralph as Katt was, I do agree with Mortimer though remembering his story with his suit wearer, Owen would fit that character quite well.

Hey all. I don't really post much on the board. I am more of a reader but I must say as a huge fan of GAH for all my life, I think Kutcher is a terrible idea as Ralph. I don't think Owen Wilson is much better either.
I personally think they should cast an unknown for Ralph and go with a veteran actor for Bill (I like Bruce Campbell or Richard Dean Anderson of the suggestions that have been already made)
I am just going to throw my .02 in here and say that I would not mind seeing Kutcher's 70's show buddy Topher Grace in the role of Ralph if they decide to go with a "name" I really think he could pull it off. I don't know if it would work but I have 2 people in mind to play Bill besides Campbell (who I think is perfect and the best choice). I would not mind seeing Ed O'Neil as Bill. I really think he could pull it off but the problem with him is that he is and always will be Al Bundy. The other guy is Bryan Cranston from Breaking Bad and Malcom in the Middle. I never thought much of this guy but since I have started watching Breaking Bad and seeing the range this guy has I have no doubt he can play the role.

I agree on a rather unknown actor or total unknown for Ralph and Pam while Bill is a veteran actor. There have been clips of a fan series attempt (not that "TGAH 2008 - Morgan Hathaway" fiasco), that has some unknown playing Ralph. From what little behind the scenes stuff I've read he's OK. (I don't know why they want to have a teenage female cheerleader with a suit too though ). I haven't seen Topher Grace in anything (Don't watch "That '70s show" but I have seen Kutcherin other things), so I can't say if he'd be good or not.

Bryan Cranston might indeed make a good Bill. If nothing else, he would make a good bad guy. ;D

You know, I don't know who they'll cast, and have given several suggestions. If they fit the role right, I'd rather them be cast. Now, Kutcher I could see play a character like Tony or one of the students, but not Ralph, not with what I've seen his acting range be.
There are several unknowns I've seen in plays and such who would fit Ralph so much better and this could be their break. Even Mary Ellen Stuart did "GAHeroine" before she had that rather long stint on "As the World Turns."
Even with the original series, both Katt and Connie were relative unknowns until they got those roles. Only Culp had the long acting resume out of the three.
Sometimes - it's better to cast a rather unknown in these things instead of well-known/what is seen as moneymaker actors in this. If watching the Astros this year says anything (i.e. trading talent for big names), I'd rather see unknown talent excell than a well-known just for their names and mediochre talent.

Ashton Kutcher??! NNNOOOOOO!!! Maybe he could be Tony, but that's all. I've always hated the idea of Owen Wilson as Ralph, too. No, the role of Ralph needs a straight actor (with good range) who can find the comedy in the situation by reacting seriously rather than hamming it up. I still favour Richard Dean Anderson as Bill. Feel the love. dolfyn.

Indeed, dolfyn. RDA as Bill is a great idea. I concur. ;D
