Oh my gosh... just wow. That's sad on so many levels, because of all the things to die from, that is one of the most bizarre ways to pass away. A tragic ending for a great actor. My condolences to Culp's family, friends and those who knew him.

Like I said on the other thread...I'm devastated. I thought it would be a fitting tribute to re-post an old fan video I did years ago. Music: "I Spy (for the F.B.I)" by The Untouchables.

I just saw the news... Of all the celebrity deaths lately, this one is the most heartbreaking for a lot of us, with all the various roles under his belt. The last thing I saw him do was "Robot Chicken" as Bill Maxwell and he sounded like he really had fun doing it... He said before he wasn't done with Maxwell.

I heard about this, and it suddenly hit me kinda bad. I haven't even been around these parts in a long while and sorta drifted away from GAH, but when I found this out, wow, I dunno I feel like I lost an uncle or something. Very sad. We all have our time, but it seems like Culp was in otherwise good health if this fall hadn't occured. R.I.P. Robert Culp bust'em, badge'em, and bag'em...

I'm at a real loss for words. I think Maxwell said it best at the end of Don't Mess Around with Jim, and as a tribute I've changed the home page at www.the-greatest-american-hero.com to reflect that. As Hoby Gilman, Kelly Robinson, and William Maxwell he gave audiences hours of entertainment and for that we thank you. R.I.P. Robert Culp

I just got home and read the news. I cried for ten minutes. I lost my friend. My Bill. I can't believe it. I am still in shock. It has not sunk in yet. I drifted away from this site, being real busy. One of my first thoughts was of all the people here and the great love we all have for the man. He will be truly missed. He was one of a kind.

Wow I can Not Believe the News This is truley a SAD day! Robert had such a way with all the characters he played! He really made you believe he was that person. He made Ya love him! He made you feel like you really knew him and as Bill Maxwell Well what can I say the chemistry between him and Willam Katt That was the show! You cared about them, like they were your close friends. One of my favorite momments of Bill's from the show was in Plague when he gets to the ground the words he says and the look on his face PRICELESS!!! I had tears in eyes as I read the news HE WILL BE TRULEY MISSED!! R.I.P. my friend!

Hey everyone, esp my fellow Maxwell Maniacs. I had to come by to see how my fellow GAHers were doing. I found about at 3:55pm today, 35 minutes before the end of my shift at work. It took about a minute for the shock to wear off and I lost it; had to run out of the office because the tears wouldn't stop.
I talked to Jo briefly on chat on another site, and I got wondering, are we going to hold something like a Memorial Chat or anything? I'd love to join in if so and catch up on stuff and how we love Bill and Robert Culp.
I've been trying to find out something, ANYthing, but all the local media sites I go to have the same AP article.
All I can say is whatever the mechanics of the fall, that he didn't suffer and went quickly. RIP Mr. Culp, and condolences to his family and his bestest friend, Bill Cosby.
MrsMaxwell, thanks for reposting that vid, I loved it! And nice to see you; I only wish it was under happier times.
Additional: I'm going to be loitering in here, checking in periodically. I've got a hankering to watch all of my favorite Maxwell episodes, or at least till I pass out. Send me a msg if you want me.

I was in church when I found out...had to walk out of the room. So I went to the bathroom and cried. It's not easy...to lose someone that you've watched practically all your life, that you liked so much...it's a very dark day for me.

I just found out about this on Facebook after coming home from our Wednesday Night Prayer Meeting and events at church. Choir practice was interrupted to announce that a long time member there and good friend had died too. Both are very shocking nonetheless..
RIP Robert Culp "Bill Maxwell"

RIP Robert Culp. I was sad to hear of his passing, especially how it happened. He'll be missed.
As for Bill Maxwell, he'll live on forever. That's my only consolation.

It's a shame that he died. I loved him as Bill Maxwell and I am experiencing his I SPY career. I wish I had TRACKDOWN now on DVD.
I feel sorry for his friends and family, especially Bill Cosby. I bet he is taking it hard.

Hello, all,
I was on shift at my medical center tonight when by chance I wound up on-line and stumbled upon this terrible news. It was shocking. Shocking! Awful! Culp was a lean man, who regularly exercised, was mentally alert, and although we didn't know his health history (aside from arthritis in his neck), he just seemed like he could go on forever. I WANTED him to go on forever.
I just yesterday received in the mail the two hour script for TGAHeroine, so I could read the whole story, even if it wasn't fully filmed and aired. I just wanted to read more of Bill and the rest of the TGAH crew, even a story and additional character I didn't like. But, anything TGAH with Bill was something I just wanted to read.
Culp's portrayal of Bill Maxwell was amazing. Culp himself in an interview admitted he LOVED Maxwell, which is really cool, because I loved Maxwell, too. What am amazing characters, as was, also, Kelly Robinson. I have shelves of Culp TV movies, series, and can never watch him enough.
The idea of mortality just hits one on the head to think, la-dee-dah, Culp just went out for a walk in his neighborhood and before he had gone 1/4 mile, a massive heart attack killed him. It seems pointless, as death so often does. Culp will indeed be seriously grieved by his fans. He may not have been the friendliest man, but he was one OUTSTANDING actor, good writer and director, and let's also not forget how handsome he was. All in all, I am SO going to miss him. He was unique, brilliant, a master in his art. I so wish he was still alive. ;-(

Shocking to say the least. Just very, very sad.
It's funny as a little kid growing up watching this show I never really liked Bill. I always thought he was so mean to Ralph but when I re-watched the series as an adult in my early 20's I realized that Culp (Maxwell) was the best part about the show.
I don't know a tremendous amount of Culp's work outside GAH except for Raymond, head of Intergang on a few episodes of Lois and Clark, and his few apperances on Columbo and The Cosby show but he was an amazing actor who always made you believe he was the person he was portraying.
He will be missed. RIP
