(Thanks to Rob Cavicchio of the t.G.A.H. Yahoo group for the find.) According to a post on cannell.com, The Greatest American Heroine TV Movie (along with 3 other Cannell properties) will be coming to DVD in certain Target stores this April 3rd. Whether or not this will be an actual feature length TV movie (lost footage, anyone?), or the cut-up "episode" shown in the Hero syndication package and 1st season DVD release remains to be seen. Anyone volunteering to pick this up next month to find out?

I was looking at that news release from Cannell Productions yesterday, and while it does state movies I believe it will be the same print as used previously.
All reports I've came across over the years indicate that only a pared down version of the 2 hour heroine script was shot. However it would be a nice surprise if another 40 minutes or so turned up.
I will be hitting all the Target stores in the area on April 3rd.

Given that the re-releases at Target have been only the first 43 episodes (or the original "GAH" pilot and the regular season ones), I would be surprised if this is more than just the original cut.
I also thought that they had a limited amount of money, more so than planned so they had to cut out scenes of filming to get what we do get, and that this footage was what had I think the opening montage and opening titles added to.
The only things I can see as being new would be possibly behind the scenes stuff, or bonus materials such as any photos they took on set (which we've seen one or two), and PR photos of Holly with Bill or Ralph handing the suit over to Holly, etc. (the latter of which I still felt did happen, but we've never seen a photo of).
Maybe we ought to sweet talk Marci into asking Katt if he filmed more footage for "GAHeroine" that never aired or the like. (Of course, he may want to forget the film even existed given how bad it was).

BTW, if I recall correctly, these collections cost about $10 at Target, which isn't too bad considering you get four movies here (or at least three and the hour-long (?) pilot for "GAHeroine."
We'll probably get it here, and if we do, I may get it - if nothing else, I can give it to my Dad afterward because he does like a couple of the actors on the other movies.
The snapshot of Holly though - for those interested - is her looking up after she starts sniffling near Bill's car. It was the shot right after the dialogue of:
Bill: Is she always going to do that?
Ralph: probably not. (Holly looks up, and Ralph continues on with his dialogue).

Ah, HERE'S a question... Will the original music Heroine contained be left alone? Well we know it was for the Anchor Bay release. Will be interesting to see if the new version remains the same.

For those wondering, if the price is $10 or less, I'll go and get this. I'm interested in seeing the other three movies even if we find out that the "GAHeroine" one is indeed just that short cut film we got.
Would be nicer though if they'd extended the scenes up to the goodbye so we can see Ralph's decent so there's some valid reason for the 180 and Bill not knocking some sense into him and then we could have less of the training for the Olympics instead of scenarios scene.

I hit up both Targets within 25 miles of me this morning with no luck in finding the tv movie DVD. Although I have seen a few titles released on other days, Tuesday is usually the normal day for most discs to hit the shelf. I will look again on Tuesday of this week.
Anyone have better luck?

I didn't get to go and most likely will not now until the weekend. For all my town has, the Target is not one of them.

No luck at my nearest Target (Edison, NJ) today. Will try again tomorrow or later, in case the April 3rd release date was a typo.

I scored a copy of the new disc, and TGAHeroine pilot is the same version we've seen for years. The price was $5 and it's a two DVD set.
As I said before it's my understanding the 2 hr script was never shot, and a pared down version was eventually filmed. It's a shame though, something *new* from the old show would have been excellent even if it was from Heroine.
While it's only at select Target stores at the moment, it's supposed to be given a wide release everywhere later this year.

There are four pilots on there HD - and I would presume the other three were proper pilots of at least an hour if not two hours. Heroine is the only one that is relatively short.
As much as I hate saying this, I don't think they gave "GAHeroine" a proper shot. It was choppy, gave a totally unfair exit for Ralph and Pam (even with the digression into JJ Beck, it was too abrupt here to feel real), and Bill gets pretty much the shaft teamed up with a partner who really didn't want him (which on retrospect is worse than having his memory erased). I don't think it'd worked with Mary Ellen Stuart in the role, and the wording was hokey, but it should've had a proper pilot.

It felt less like a pilot for a new show and more like the moment when you know an old show has jumped the shark! It would have been more interesting to hear more about Ralph becoming a famous, conceited guy, but of course the pilot isn't supposed to be about him, so we just kind of speed through it, heh. There were one or two good moments with Mary Ellen Stuart, like I thought her reaction to seeing the holograph for the first time was realistic for a woman (and I'm saying this as a female, so no offence intended, lol). But overall, an actor just rarely comes across well with a character that's a cardboard cut out. The character is just too perfect and there's no possibility for drama.

It would have been more interesting to hear more about Ralph becoming a famous, conceited guy, but of course the pilot isn't supposed to be about him, so we just kind of speed through it, heh. From what we've heard about the full pilot (this was a 2-hour pilot winnowed down), they did show a digression of sorts for Ralph. It still was a bit too quick though, and IMHO was also a slap to Bill because apparently he's more worried about himself getting into trouble (they supposedly do investigations on it with the FBI to see how many of the cases "he" solved were with Ralph), than trying to knock some sense into Ralph and try to find a way to get people to forget them. The duo could blunder their way - or actually solve it right for once - how to make them forget on their own. There is a thread here that includes a summary of the story. I'll have to search for it though. The only character even close to the original start to finish in the GAHeroine pilot IMHO is Pam, and even there she doesn't do much. I thought that was the most realistic thing that happened with Holly finding out about suit powers on her own (though I would think Ralph would warn her about those. ). She was too perfect - well for a suit wearer, on the flying and the rest of the training save the jumping over the goal post really had nothing to do in regard to what she'd use the powers for in solving cases. (I say the jumping because Ralph jumped over a tall fence in "Plague." Mary Ellen Stuart is actually a pretty good actress - I've seen her as Frannie on "As The World Turns" (via YouTube) and as Bonnie in the "Renegade" episode "Bonnie and Claire." That said, Holly was not a character she should've been playing - she doesn't do comedy, even the Lucille Ball "I am not trying to be funny funny" that is needed for the series. That was why Katt did very well as Ralph - he had the not trying to be funny humor down pat, as did Connie and Culp. Though I will say that even though I felt she was miscast, I feel that no one, not even the best actress could've pulled the character of Holly off as she was written. Katt did better as a conceited Ralph, which was way out of character for the character.
