Excuse me while I scoop this out to the garbage. *Sigh* It's nice to think that the movie might get made, but they are casting this about as well as they are supposed to cast GAH.

I agree. I can't picture him as Hannibal. Can he even do an American accent? Wouldn't that be one of the basics of the character?

I can't really see the Face character working either.

I think Neeson could possibly play Hannibal if he could have a believable accent. That said, I could see him in the role if they take the serious route. If it's more like the TV series he'll be a poor choice. I don't know much if anything on the possible "Face" actor, so I can't say anything there (well, save that possibly Kutcher could be better here than as Ralph... he's smarmy enough. (And yes, HD, this is sarcasm on my part. ).

I don't like that they are doing this show without the campy nature. If it loses that charm, this is just another war/suspense movie. It is a drama with no heart and no comedy. That is what made the original show along with a superb cast.

That is what made the original show along with a superb cast. Oh, I agree - especially seeing "G.I. Joe" previews. Incidentally, you might like that one - apparently the bad guy is Christopher Eccleston, best known for playing the ninth Doctor in "Doctor Who." So, you can now go boo the Doctor and it make sense.

Booing it always makes sense. All of the A-TEAM movie stuff is awful if it keeps going downhill like this.

I agree that it needs camp, but I have no faith that they will get that right, either.
The problem is that a lot of people in the business are confusing campy and comedic-retro-spoof (I just made that up, for lack of a better term). There were so many remake movies of old tv shows that just missed the mark because they were making fun of the original.
I can see this happening with a GAH remake, too.
Feh!

I've never thought The A-Team or TGAH for that matter as "campy" The 60's Batman was "camp" and neither of the above mentioned series even came close to the mocking, overserious, type of comedy presented by that series. Granted, The A-Team came closer than TGAH did, but I don't think it ever crossed that line.
I would welcome a series film based on The A-Team, a film that featured big scale action adventure laced with humor. The original show really went too far in some 4th season episodes, and lost the right action/humor balance found in the first 3 seasons. However, the series redeemed itself in the last episode of that 4th year with The Sound of Thunder. An episode that was a bit more serious, and proved that the cast and the series could handle that type of writing.

I have to agree Josie that there is a lot of making fun of old shows instead of just renewing them for future generations. I think it's sad that this is the case when the original shows were so ideal in the way they were presented.
GG: I have to agree that I don't think THE A-TEAM crossed the "camp" line the way the BATMAN series did (although I love that series for that reason too). ;D
I would not mind a serious episode, like SOUND OF THUNDER was, as long as it had the right balance of humor mixed in. Yes, there was a death and there were a lot of serious scenes, but it had a lot of good humor in it that showed the show was still fun for everyone. I would prefer to see a movie that combined the elements perfectly like some of the episodes did. Part of that is writing, but part of that is casting...and the casts I have heard suggested do not fit the bill for me.

I also think it's really hard to condense series into movies. It takes lots of time and many episodes to get the character development that we see in series...

I agree with that as well, Josie. I am hoping at least for the recognizable feel of the series if nothing else.
