That's a definite....twist...to the show.
Sounds like they want to go full-on comedy. I wonder if it will only be a half hour show since that what the writers/producers are known for it seems. SJC's daughter in on it too, huh?
Do bodies actually roll over in their graves, I wonder...?

Yes, it will be a 30 minute sitcom.
I believe Cannell's daughter was involved in the FOX project also.
Can't fault the Cannell estate for trying to keep his production properties alive. I just wish they has chose a more traditional reboot. So far in recent years, two film attempts supposedly have been made, and now this is the 2nd one for TV.
No matter what, we still have the original.

Why is it so hard for anybody be it FOX, ABC or whomever to get this project right. The formula is simple ... have a regular everyday guy get the suit, loses instructions and tried to love and use this suit along with everyday problems. I wouldn't make it a comedy but a drama with only having comedy through the actions of the main character trying to use the suit. They need to play this series straight and not go for the cheap laughs. I'm sorry, 30 min episodes are not enough, what is SJC daughter thinking. Very sad ...
I sure would like to see what FOX had in the can from the 2 pilots they shot.

I have to agree. Although I do not mind a female star, the brief description I read said she is a drinker and totally irresponsible in life. Why would the aliens choose her? It makes no sense. At least Ralph was a social activist, a good guy, mostly responsible, a teacher; I could see aliens choosing him and a good-hearted, honest, committed Fed.

That's too bad. Quite disappointing to hear. The only benefit I can see from this is that it could (and probably will) generate some attention to the original. People that have never previously heard of TGAH might decide to check out the original, and then become fans.

Will she have a partner like a Bill Maxwell? I didn't get that from reading it.
Makes me wonder if maybe it will be a more comedic version of EARLY EDITION...?

Not sure how this will work as a half hour sitcom. Certainly it cant have the same background as the original - she gets the suit to save the world with a partner - not for a sitcom.
I feel it will more like a 'People of Earth' clone.
Also curious if this is a complete female reboot like the new Ghostbusters or will it be a 'sequel' to the original series.
Not looking forward to it, but being what it is I will watch it to see how it works out.

I guess I don't know PEOPLE OF EARTH... A lot of people really panned the female Ghostbusters, so I hope it doesn't go that route. I see it as being a non-original. Otherwise, how in the world do you tie the ideal of the Greenguys and the original team to this? Too bad. With the success of WONDER WOMAN, a strong female lead and story could really drive this show to be a powerhouse.

Well, it's an improvement over the "TGAH 2008" attempt, so there's that (Yes, I know nine years later, but the guy did admit he was going to try and sell said show).
I don't know how well this will work though. One of the biggest problems with "TGAHeroine" was Holly was played for laughs. You have to have a balance of comedy and seriousness in order for it to work with a woman.
Wish them the best, but those two FOX pilots failed, and it's likely this one will too if they can't find the balance of comedy and drama.

I must admit.....Not too excited about the new TGAH sitcom.
I guess I should keep an open mind.

A pilot episode, if well done, might change my mind, but it would have to be pretty good.
After all, I recently watched THE SHANNARA CHRONICLES and I heard it was nowhere near the book it was based on. That disappointed me, but I went in with an open mind and I do enjoy the series. Since I know it wasn't based entirely on the books, that gives me some leeway. Maybe this show will do the same for me if not a complete remake of the original, right?

The new Greatest American Hero, will not be anything like the original.Go on Google and research, you'll wanna put on the red jammies, and fly over to where the producers of the rebbot are,and just, say,"HEY",what are you doing...? It's a bad,bad remake, unless,it's a hoax.Having a female lead,is not a problem,I though The Greatest American Heroine, was good ending to the series, still, only 3 seasons.Darn it,but,if the reboot,is,like, out there, and doesn't have what the original show was saying, then hey, don't insult us.You cannot top the original GAH.It was a wonderful, wonderful show.It had all the right elements. It was at the right place at the right time.I love all the characters and the original idea was fantastic. It has never been done before....never.I was so sad,to hear about Mr. Cannell's passing. That, and Robert Culp.My hearts go out to their families.

That article is sad. Reboots are fine, but this sounds awful. Maybe the pilot will be better than the description....?

I read they got a 5 episode order.
it doesn't bother me they are making the main character a female. It doesn't bother me she will be Indian-American.
Does bother me being a sitcom. I mean, really. If its done with a laugh track I just might shoot someone.
The original was comedy rolled into drama and action. Don't see why they couldn't have the same in the reboot.

I hadn't heard that yet. Doesn't sound promising though if all they got was a five episode order. Usually most shows will get 13 I thought...? The sitcom part doesn't bother me too much...unless the comedy is the goal rather than being evident in the situation, including drama. Some dramedies work well, like PSYCH, but I am not sure this remake will accomplish that feel.

'Seinfeld' started with a 6 episode first season and I hear it got rather popular.
I doubt it will be in a studio if they will have flying and other special effect scenes.
But cannot judge anything until we actually see it.
