'Seinfeld' started with a 6 episode first season and I hear it got rather popular. I doubt it will be in a studio if they will have flying and other special effect scenes. But cannot judge anything until we actually see it. Good point. Some shows can be a rating surprise and this one could as well I suppose. They will probably use more green screen and CGI than was available in the original series.

A lot more I am sure. I always wondered how the show would look if they had the capabilities in special effects we have now.
Not that I expect this to be another Seindfeld......
But the original Star Trek was 3 seasons and all of the spin off shows but one went on for more then twice that. Enterprise got 4 years that still beat TOS.

Is there anyone from the original show even remotely connected to this reboot?

Is there anyone from the original show even remotely connected to this reboot? Cannell's daughter is involved, but she did not work on the original series since she was a kid at the time.

Again, I am all in for seeing another take on this show, but I just can’t stomach a 30min sitcom as this was never meant to be. Maybe I’ll be surprised, but I doubt it. Sad days for GAH as when this flops flat on its face like our hero does when he lands, so will our hopes for any serious try’s to really try a proper reboot.

So - they've recast Meera if I'm reading this right, because this isn't the same woman whom they've pictured in other articles - nor to my knowledge there was mention they were still casting the part. I wish her the best but like Butterfingers, don't think a half an hour sitcom isn't the way to handle this show. In fact - many continuations/reboots I've seen of shows that have decreased their time from an hour to 30 minutes have been criticized for it, because they lose the ability to develop the story and characters. It's one of the biggest criticisms I know for "Thunderbirds Are Go" - though this upcoming season they're planning to do more two-parters.

With all the big Super hero movies and TV shows being big hits its interesting they want to go full comedy.
The Marvel films are a lot like GAH was - drama and action and light comedy, all meshed together.

*Insert hefty groan here*
I said somewhere that I was going to give it a chance.
Now I wanna watch it just to see how bad they screw it up.
I wanna scream/screech like Ralph did at the villagers in "A Chicken In Every Plot" when they were attacking Pam and the kids in Teddy's house. Boy he was mad...

And as a half hour sitcom I expect the plots to be a lot simplified.
Probably wont have an FBI agent and fight terrorists and bank robbers and all that action stuff they did in the original.
Really no clue on what they will do with it as a full on sitcom

The actress says that its because ABC wasn't ready for a brown female super hero on TV.
I think its more they knew it would suck before it even started.
I still say with the current super hero movie high going on, it would be a perfect time for the GAH film.

I think that is just sour grapes.
I have no issue with a female of color playing the lead role. I am pretty sure most of us don't.
However, I am not sure how it would keep the comedic timing of the original series without letting us know more about her struggles, her partner if she has one, etc.
NETFLIX might pick up something like this though.

Yeah. On the one hand it would be a stretch to do this as a sitcom, if the premise is the same - aliens give her the suit to save the world.
Would she have a partner like Bill in an official capacity to work on missions, or just fumble around on her own saving people?
But on the other hand, it did make me curious to see if they could have pulled it off.
Like having a female Doctor Who now. I would have preferred he stayed a he, but at the same time I an very excited to see how it works out with a female in the role.

I'm curious if the unsold pilot will pop up somewhere. Years ago, the networks used to burn off their unsold pilots and air them, not so much anymore.
I never read anything in the casting that would lead me to believe she had a partner.
It's been so many years since the series I'm sure no one behind any new TGAH project thinks it should be a continuation of the original. However, as the above mentioned Doctor Who, TGAH could continue in the same fashion for years with a new person given the suit. The chemistry (among other things) wasn't there for TGAHeroine, but that doesn't mean it couldn't work now.
If the remake gravy train continues TGAH will probably return. The version I'm most curious about is the movie version that claimed it was to star the guy from NCIS: Los Angeles Eric Christian Olsen. He would have been a good choice, age wise at the time 32 or 33. They had a director, but I don't think I ever heard who was responsible for writing it. From everything I've ever read about the various films and TV attempts this sounded the best to me.

I think a good person to be the new Bill if they did it would be Mark Harmon.

Thank god! I am so happy that it didn’t get picked up. Let me explaine.... I was all for a female lead and all, but what I could not stomach was the show only being 30min and was a 1 camera sitcom. This show was not a comedy sitcom or a comedy. My fear was that it would have aired and then after 6 episode it would have been canceld. Now there is where the damage is really done..... others will then say, see, we tried it and it failed so let’s not ever try again. Now that it will never show the light of day (thank god) ... maybe we can get a more serious take on what it was meant to be ... a 1hour fantasy/drama with light tones. Male or female from what ever background is fine .... but keep the soul of the show intact, or what the point.
