How do you think our three heroes would see the events of 2020?
How would the team react to a virus that is not man-made and is not distributed by some kooks? How would they deal with the issue of racism and the like? Do you think that SJC and company should have done a racism episode in the original run? If so, how should it have been done? How would have our heroes reacted? What about a more direct police brutality episode?

It's hard to imagine what Ralph could do about a virus, which is going to work its way through the population one way or another. I think, if SJC and Juanita Bartlett had been free to make an intelligent, thoughtful series, the ultimate point would have been that you can't solve real-world problems with a super-suit. That would have gone entirely against the grain of every superhero show. (Thus I'm sure that this is a minority opinion.)
An episode on racism would have been welcome and could easily have fit into the series. Ralph had several students of color--why not build an episode around one of them?
I can't see them going for an episode on police brutality at the time, but it could have been interesting. It would be tough for Bill because he believes the police are the good guys. (Except when he's taking down his admittedly corrupt friend in "My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys.") Ralph and Pam would be outraged, Bill would be trying to defend the cops. You could make a good episode out of it, I'm sure.

You could make a good episode out of it, I'm sure. I agree with everything you said overall. It would have been neat to see them, not exactly fail, but to have to band-aid a solution. Instead of focusing so much on Tony in FIREMAN, why not have it be Paco or Cyler? I think the police brutality would have been eye opening for the public. It would have pitted Ralph and Pam against Bill as usual, but in a very different context. It's not just fighting against a crooked cop, but the entire system that Bill is used to. I think it could have made for some interesting television.
