Hmmmm....I will have to ponder these new developments before I can attempt to paint you into any more corners, per se.

Looks like I might have for once, gotten you into a temporary conundrum.

Nope...dinner.

Nope...dinner. Huh? Never heard that joke, unless it refers to the antique spoon comment I made on the captions thread. (ETA, or, it's a double entendre. ) Anyway, look forward to your move.

It means that you have not stumped me, but that I was busy eating some dinner...

It means that you have not stumped me, but that I was busy eating some dinner... Oh, OK, sorry just a bit confused. Get that way when I'm about to eat dinner myself. I'll be waiting for you move, providing we don't have a spoof "The Wild, Wild West" into this (from my comments on the Five Star Thread). (And stump you, never. After all, if I did, we would have people going every which way. ... No wait, I've done that).

Babs walked into the room containing Pam and Bill.
"What's the big idea?" Bill blurted out. "We need to go save Ralph."
"Unfortunately, you are here because you cannot go. If you go into the past, you might alter the future more or worse...get killed yourselves. Ralph has not destroyed the correct ruby yet. So, if you go back in time and try to help him, you are vulnerable. I don't know much about Ralph, but he might give up if one or both of you die. You will have to stay here for the remainder." Babs turned and left...the lock clicking in place behind her.
"Lousy green creeps," Bill muttered. Pam sat down and closed her eyes...this could take days.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kevin Hinkley still slept in Pam's car. Hours had passed, but his day had been very exciting and tomorrow was Saturday, so he got to sleep in anyway. His dreams were full of chocolate cake and cartoons. He let out a small, brief snore, and then continued his doze in silence.
Outside the car, the fog was inching closer. Within the hour, the car would be consumed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ralph looked outside and saw no one, but was not fooled. He had regained a lot of his strength back and had slept some. Jack was still caring for Mel, who was not looking very good at the moment. Tatt was cooking some more soup. HD was gazing out the window by his side.
"Ain't right out there, Ralph." HD spoke quietly and could barely be heard. "They could tear you apart or you them and yet, y'all jest set here. Why?"
"I don't know, HD." Ralph gazed outside again. The sky was still overcast, but no tornado had come for some time.
"I reckon this means that you are doing what they want."
"I thought of that, but I don't know how to prove it." Ralph felt the rubies in his sleeves and began to wonder if he could figure them out. He left his window post and went back to the upright table. He took the rubies out and gazed at them. One had a pink star and one had a grey star. That was no help. Both were identical.
"Any luck?" HD asked, coming up beside him.
Ralph shook his head and thought back to the one he had in the safety deposit box...or had at one point until it had shown up here. It must have been the one that turned to dust because it would still exist in the present unless he destroyed it, which he had not. *Okay, good. Now, what did it look like? I never remember a star in it. Maybe they are both fake. Maybe my being here is doing nothing...and maybe that is the whole point* Ralph's eyes glazed over. This could have been a charade...and he walked right into it and started changing history.
"You okay, Ralph?" HD tapped him and Ralph started. After assuring HD that he was fine, he stared at them some more. HD resumed his post at the window.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Murphy had rested and so had his comrade. Now, they waited. The fog had to be intensifying and Ralph had to be going nuts, especially not knowing if Bill and Pam were okay. Sure, he could feel their pain, but he could not feel their deaths, especially if it were done in a non-threatening manner...like the drug in the whiskey.
*A shame he did not drink it. Of course, since no human can survive a sip, we will still win because his ancestor will die and he will cease to be.* Murphy allowed himself a smirk and stared at the cabin. He glanced at his watch.
"How long?" his companion asked.
"She should be gone in about an hour max," Murphy said. He reclined back into the arm of the tree and stared at the cabin.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jack was still soaking a cloth in water and trying to get Mel's fever down. She had vomited again, but this time, she had hacked and coughed throughout, making Jack believe that she was worse. He was sure that she would not survive another day without help, but he knew that the only person to help was Ralph...and he was not doing so well on his own problem right now it seemed. Jack went back to wetting the cloth.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A US weather satellite came into orbit over Arizona at 8:30pm local time. It scanned the massive fog front covering Arizona. On a wide screen, it showed that parts of New Mexico, Utah, Nevada, Colorado, and across the border into Mexico. People had been advised to stay in their homes because of the danger. At the rate it was going, the satellite relayed calculations to Washington, DC. that stated a larger radius should be informed.
Minutes later, the red phone rang in the Oval Office.

Well, another challenge. I'll have to think it out before I write it out. (And don't worry, Jim and Artie will not appear. I don't want to add another Wanderer into the mix).

Too bad. I think it might be fun, but we are already so A-U that cross-overs would be no fun. Billswoman might like it though...she is fond of those.

Yeah, and so far I think we've injured everyone except for the good green leader, Fokus, Murphy, and HD. That usually didn't happen in GAH (and no, I'm not going to do that to everyone ). Besides, if we included "The Wild, Wild West," (based on series) Jim would try to clobber everyone or flirt with Pam or Babs. Artie would disguise himself in a costume that the green guys would figure out (the didn't always work). That's no fun either, for them anyway.

True. And we have pseudo-hurt Murphy. You knocked him down with a rock, but did not kill him or anything. And didn't Fokus and Ralph fight in one of your postings earlier after it was restarted? They fought...but maybe no one got hurt.

They fought...but maybe no one got hurt. Yeah I think so with Fokus, but I'd have to read my notes again. I thought I knocked down the other green guy, the one we hadn't named, with a "200-MPH fastrock." Maybe I need to name him next go so we can straighten this out. I guess another somewhat blase name. Anyway, I'll work on my move tonight and it'll be here either tonight or tomorrow.

Murphy was well-picked by me...guess why. Robocop's sidekick? or I guess now Fokus' sidekick. I don't know obviously, but it's probably better than mine. Cal is based on an old TV car ad that always had a guy called "Cal Worthington and his dog spot," except spot was a bear, elephant, tiger, chimpanzee, etc., but never a dog. (I really need to quit jumping the gun on my comment posts as well. Keep wanting to add stuff, and I hit send. But, at least the computer's not beeping at me again. Must be protected by the little green guy. )

Murphy's law. I named him that because I figured I could use him to cause mistakes to happen.

Thanks. I have always liked the concept of Murphy's law and try to use it whenever I can in real-life too.

Murphy was well-picked by me...guess why. Now that we know where Murphy and Cal come from(great alien names, by the way ), and I'm not sure about Tatt, does anyone wanna guess where Fokus comes from? HINT: I didn't make up Dr Torus, but I did come up with Fokus. And I had planned to keep the running gag with all the aliens, but then the thread stalled out...

I never knew where Cal came from. Yes, Murphy may not be alien, but aliens have bad luck too. I figured Tatt was a nod to you like Mel and HD were nods to others on the boards. I have no idea for Dr. Torus or Fokus. I am presuming it is not GAH related though. You should really tell people your plans...MelMac and I try to be accommodating to some degree.

Oh, that's alright, as I said, that was back when the original thread was going on. I like the story better this way. My original story idea was that Arizona was not destroyed, but was now existing in the prehistoric past, and the 'Arizona' from that time was now existing in the present. That explains why the geologist Hasburgh noticed giant differences in the way the ground lined up. The haze was actually the atmosphere from that time. (This would be when the major lifeform on Earth was the trilobyte, and it all had to do with the ancestors of the little green guy from the ship.) Hasburgh crossed into prehistoric Arizona, but when he tried to cross back, he ended up in prehistoric Utah. (The aliens caused this so that Arizonians wouldn't pop out of thin air and explain the situation.)
