According to the Cannell website, SJC will be appearing on the LATE LATE SHOW WITH CRAIG FERGUSON sometime during the week of August 20th. They don't know which day it will air yet, but it is something we might want to TiVo. He might talk about the movies of shows like A-TEAM and GAH.

It aired Tuesday night (Aug. 22), and I have to say... as much as I like Craig Ferguson (I think he should've been Leno's replacement over Conan O'Brien... maybe he'll be Letterman's), he's got to watch his timing on how long to talk to guests. Cannell only got about 5-7 minutes of an hourlong show. His visit opened up with a clip from "The A-Team" with BA talking (and I think one other, but I was working on the next chapter of my story on the Pam board. ). He comes in and Craig mentions the A-Team and it possibly being a movie. Cannell said yes and he wanted to have the cast members make cameos in the movie (though Peppard died a few years ago). "21 Jump Street" was mentioned a lot because of Johnny Depp (and Brad Pitt's appearance too). Only cringeworthy bit was him saying "Oh yeah, what happened to him (Depp)" Craig also mentions "The best detective show: 'The Rockford Files'" briefly then goes into talks about Cannell's new book (sorry, the title slips my mind right now). Cannell mentioned his time writing for "Adam-12" too and how Webb was a stickler for accurracy and how Webb made all the writers ride with officers from time to time (he was... that's why "Emergency!" too is as popular as it is.) He also mentioned that they weren't allowed to ride with the officers in the Valley area (apparently too, that has changed.) Then Craig said that they ran out of time and it was time to go. "GAH" wasn't mentioned at all, but neither were a couple of other shows he's done, such as "Renagade." "Jump Street" ironically got the biggest mention, but again, only because of Depp. Guess Craig never has watched "GAH" and knows how well all those actors have done since.

Well GAH should've been mentioned doggoneit. I mean it's only the the best thing to happen in the 80's with the cutest hero

I totally agree... given it started to turn into a Depp fest. I like Craig, but sometimes he trails off the subject worse tthan I do.

Even though GAH may be remembered HERE more than the other shows, the other shows were on the air longer and had larger followings overall. And Katt DID go on to do PROBLEM CHILD 3...THAT'S a success? Pam has probably risen the ranks the most...and Culp has stayed roughly the same...maybe even less the older he got.

Well... they might've had larger followings, but with the exception of Depp, I really haven't seen any of the other actors in regular roles. While I agree Katt and Culp haven't been in something the nature of "Jurassic Park" or something, they have had steady work. In that industry, it's success. Same goes for Connie and the ohter actors (well, we don't know about Don Cervantes). Shoot even Mary Ellen Stuart has done commercials since (though she does tend to get annoying).
Personally, out of the later stuff he's done post GAH and A-Team, I like Renagade the most.

I have not seen most of his post A-Team work. I heard from Maxwell-FBI that PROFIT was a great, but short-lived series...I might get it just to see.

Think the one ironic thing was I was considering buying "The A-Team" When I found out "The Greatest American Hero" was coming out. In fact, funny thing was that I was so tickled about seeing a show I still remembered from age 2 that I went to the store a day early before they could put it out on the shelves. The man was so nice about my faux pas that I made sure I went back to the same store, delaying my trip home (I was visiting family) just slightly. Third season I got for $2.50 because I had a gift card from a bank as a prize. Pretty cool

Pam has probably risen the ranks the most...and Culp has stayed roughly the same...maybe even less the older he got. HD, first, what does risen the ranks mean? Made the big time? Exposure? Face/name recognition? Parts played? Parts played with those who are big time?
Second, I think you are comparing three different people at different stages of their careers - which is not really fair to any of them. In fact, I don't agree with you here.
Selleca was at the beginning of her career, had a few good starts, and works steady. Risen the ranks? She works steady, but TV movies are not everyone's cuppa tea... Talented and beautiful, yes. Risen? I am unconvinced.
Katt, had a tad more experience maybe, but seems to have made the most different turns, as he did more theatrical acting in addition to his tv & movie parts. If I had to choose the two who started at similar stages (early career), he has a more interesting acting/entertainment career than she does, in terms of diversity and flexibility. Risen? I am also unconvinced. As face/name recognized as Selleca? Maybe not.
Culp can't really be compared to his juniors, since he had many years behind him and still years ahead. Of the three, he is the more experienced, diverse, and successful. (Success, however, is such a relative term!) Risen? Well, he was already well known. He probably is still recognized to younger people through his roles in Raymond, The Nanny, etc.
As for still being active, he's 76 years old! My dad is 75 and can barely open a carton of milk, let alone star in a movie! Geez!
In terms of long term flexibility, and name/face recognition, I think Culp is gonna have it, and hold the test of time, guys. You can disagree, but I think that there are more people out there who will remember him from other stuff than the other two. Honestly, it will probably be I, Spy more than anything...
As for the "even less the older he got" - well, fer jimminies sake! Let's see what you are doing at 76 years old! Give the man a break!

You won't be around when I am living it up Hefner style at 76 or better. And the smiley face indicates a JOKE, you know.

Means what? Cool? Maxwell's Aviators on sale at K-Mart? The Blues Brothers are after me?
Means what? Kisses? Love you? Ass kisser?
Go on... take it to the Pam board.

Oh no, not again. I think no matter what happens, they along with a majority of the actors from the '80s and prior will be remembered longer than a lot of today's up and coming people. Why... they act better. I see diversity with the three here as well as the kids from the series that we know still act. That's why I still remembered Ralph (maybe not Katt by name) 25 years after first watching the show when I was 2 years old. Trust me, the only people nowadays who'll be remembered 50 years from now are the ones who made $1M a show for one season or those who basically acted like whores (sorry, but spade a spade.) Not many come to mind for regular average people, and that's what's sad. I can name you all the actors in shows such as Emergency!, "Adam-12" all the replacements, etc. on "Barney Miller," but I'd draw a blank on something like "Smallville." (and yes... I have watched it). And... I use smilies for every meaning, even when they don't match. ... uh, ... no wait...

Sorry Jo, I'm just a bit jaded tonight. Tomorrow's last day at work at my not so fun job, and they're not doing much if anything. Everyone who's left before got a thank-you dinner, interns, full-time, hell one guy even got two.
People have even received one on terms like mine - change in guard, moving on before getting 'knocked out' and when you come to find yourself searching the vastness of the job industry. Feels worse than a dizzy spell and having a rabbit help escort you back to a cool place to rest and prop your feet up.
Sad when a place that you've been at 1 1/2 months gives you more respect than at other places. Just sad... guess I'll go get a hard drink — Raspberry Dr Pepper.Scary thing is... that reads a bit noir. Personally, I'd like to have learned more about Cannell's writing for "Adam-12." It was in the '70s, and it'd been neat to watch an ep or two he wrote. That is another favorite Webb series I like, though they goofed crossing over the two when one episode has Gage go gaga over "Adam-12." Even funnier, Dr. Morton was playing a cop in the ep (actor wise anyway).

PM coming your way, Mac. Yeah... but don't challenge me to write one for a GAH story, please. I don't want to read teal all the time. Just sent back a response.

Honestly guys I don't think Craig Ferguson was dissing the show just because he didn't mention it. GAH simply wasn't anywhere near as popular as A-Team or 21 Jumpstreet. The passion and love for the show can sometimes lead to a belief that people have a vendetta against GAH just because they forget to give it a few words. Let's not get too carried away. -scenario-

I mean, poor Cannell was there to promote his book and he gets more of the "21 Jump Street" stuff. "A-Team" I expected a little bit about, but it was "Depp was on Jump Street..." and "Now, about Depp..." etc. There was maybe a whole minute talking about the book itself. To be fair to Craig, I don't think he knows about "GAH." He just seems to be the guy who would've asked at least one question/made one comment about the show, even if it was "Then there was the show about the guy who crashed into the billboard. That was an odd concept. How did you start that idea?" As I said, as much as I like his talk show, Craig's gotta watch his time. He (or at least the producers) should be timing out the slots so he doesn't chat on forever talking to one person to the point another one gets very little time or no time at all. It'd made for a better conversation with Cannell.
