I got the Collector's tin for Christmas; the Instruction book is great! The book alone was probably worth the price of the set.

I agree! If I could buy just the booklet for a decent price, I'd pick up 10 of them just to have them! Alas, this can not be done, as Anchor Bay has already confirmed to me.

Yep, I have that. A nice little collectable to own for any fan of the show.

Has anyone modified their book yet? The internal 'display' is slightly wider than that of a PSP, but I'd imagine if you added bumpers to install the screen... I need to find my ancient Sega GameGear or Nomad, boy that'd be something... Potentially, you could harvest a screen from just about any handheld (TV, gaming unit, PDA) and then modify the 'buttons' to connect to an internal motherboard. I mean, you might have to do some modifications to the casing (like rounding out the corners for posterity)... Then again, there is that thing about cutting into something that symbolises more than the plastic it is made of. That, and I might cry if I accidentally blow it to smithereens if I wire something wrong.

Uh, has anyone taken their book apart and made it into a functioning prop? The lights are nice, but to a techie-geek (you know, those types that open anything electronic the moment they get it to figure out how it works and how they can improve upon that), this thing screams for modification. Maybe a more apt question would be: Has anyone personalized their instruction manual? Had the cast sign it? Shave down the edges and add buttons and sounds?

I don't have the instruction book, but I can see where you can easily update it to fit closer to the series. Don't know if anyone has even thought of that idea (getting it signed) - but it's a good idea.

Oh, nsqueen,
I've got the instruction book, which is nifty, but it never dawned on me to open it up and fiddle with it. Of course, I have no fiddling instinct or technological knowledge base upon which to draw. Let us know how you adapt the thingy if you do.

I've cracked mine open (unscrewed it, no cracking) and I might solder some new LED lights in to match the colours of the buttons first. I'm also going to look for some sound effect boards. I just want to make this thing something... Unique. (One of a kind that does not involve being blown up in any fashion.) Hee hee... It's fun to be such a geek.

I got a new soldering iron for my birthday, so the project is underway. I got the first red LED in place, removed another LED to be replaced, and burnt the holy sausage out of my finger. I quit for tonight. Maybe.
