If anyone's interested in obtaining these (they contain all the ORIGINAL music/songs as aired on ABC - and all 3 seasons are available NOW), please contact me at: kolchak@ameritech.net

I would HIGHLY recommend these. The difference in some of the episodes is SIGNIFICANT!

I am assuming the dialogue is in English...... ;D
How does the video quality compare to the official releases?

Yes, english dialogue. The only Japanese words you have to cope with are the menus but that is not a problem at all since the disk lists (in english) the order of the episodes. The quality is as good as the "official" ones but the episodes are intact as meant to be and not butchered up like the official ones. I'll never watch some of the official ones again.

This offer to help obtain these still stands, for anyone that's still looking to obtain the original versions of the GAH episodes.

How do you have access to all of these...and why do they exist when the English versions suck?

I'd recommend these, at least for Operation:Spoilsport, Pilot, Roseda Rose, Classical Gas.

I am forgetting...what was changed so much in RESEDA ROSE...the music or just the awful dub of "Mr. Hanley?"

I am forgetting...what was changed so much in RESEDA ROSE...the music or just the awful dub of "Mr. Hanley?" For the DVDs, it was the music (I think "Help Me Rhonda" was in there). Hanley was added after the assassination attempt on Reagan, so that's been the same since its original run. With the exception of a couple of places, the dubbing was poor.

I think "Help me Rhonda" was the pilot.

I think "Help me Rhonda" was the pilot. It was, but it was reprised somewhere else in another episode too. I'm not sure I have the right one though.

Something to do with copyright laws and how supposedly complicated they are in the USA as opposed to overseas. The Japanese DVDs have all the originally used music intact, and are presented in English, so basically, they are perfect (or what we SHOULD have got here in the States)

Okay...that helps, but does not tell me what song was in RESEDA ROSE.

Wow, I'd at least love the original O:SS; the only version I can watch right now is the one I downloaded (I refuse to watch the US DVD version, with EoD gone).

Joey Scarbury's cover of "Rocket Man", first used in the Pilot episode, was also used once again in "Reseda Rose", to answer your question.

Thanks. I guess I don't remember that from the original run or the syndication run. What scene was it used in RESEDA ROSE? I guess I could go watch it, but I thought it easier to ask.

Universal pulled the same crap with Quantum Leap...changed all the music over with crappy muzak including taking out Georgia On My Mind in a very pivotal episode, but yet on the Region 2 UK versions all the music is there... Why are these companies doing this?
