As vocal as he was/is about hating that suit, the best reason for him to do a reunion movie might be merchandising, something that wasn't nearly as explored back in the early 80s!
Whether Disney did the film or not, one of the fast-food franchises would grab up the kid-toy-meal rights, then theres the action figures (which are getting more and more incredibly lifelike now), costumes, etc.
As I understand it, actors get a much larger piece of the merchandising dollar these days, so Katt (who isn't setting any screens, big or small, afire lately) might license his likeness, red suit and all!

Yeah, no actor should ever say never regarding revisiting a role; especially if they get a big, fat pile of cash shoved in their face. That may sound a bit cynical, but, I think it's, more often than not, true.

I think Katt would do a reunion movie and wants too, I just think that he wishes it would have been sooner...because he probably would look even worse in the suit now that he is older.

Well, I guess that's what computers are for. you know, to digitally"alter" things so they look right. So if they can make Anthony Hopkins look younger for Red Dragon, I'm sure that they could make Mr.Katt look a bit better as well.

Believe it or not!!!!!

I hadn't thought about that. The entire original cast COULD be used and digitally enhanced to make them look younger. That way they could account for HEROINE too...and Ralph getting the suit back or something. Good call, Ted.

Gotta tell ya... I think Katt's liking the Suit better nowadays than he did while filming the show! He IS wearing (a version of) it again. So... anyone see pigs flying or know what temperature it is in hell? Just kidding.

She never got the suit...She does not exsist. There is no Holly only Zoul... You people make me giggle! ;D I have mixed feelings about a TGAH movie. It'd be hard to see different actors in the roles; I mean, who could rival the genius performance of Robert Culp as Bill? And who could be as cute & gentle & feisty & flawed & comedic as William Katt was as Ralph? But it also wouldn't really work with the original actors now that they're 27 years older. That would just be wrong. Despite all that though, I'm still curious to see how a feature film would be handled. I'm so conflicted!!! Feel the love. dolfyn.

If the studio absolutely insisted on a remake, then it has to be a fun family film and not a dark, depressing version to "fit the times" like they did with Bionic Woman. It would be possible to update Ralph and Bill for today without losing anything *if* they really wanted to. My first choice for a new Bill Maxwell would be Bruce Campbell...second choice would be Ed O'Neill. Either one of them would work as the grumbly partner if they decide to do a sequel series instead, which I would prefer. So if they cast either one of these no matter which way they go, it's a win-win for me. Ralph should be an unknown...but I happen to know a kid here that is not only a good actor, but already has the hair!! Of course, he's only 15 now so in about ten years he would make a great Ralph. Since it might be that long before we get to see anything official in that regard, I'll put his name in for consideration. Here's hoping, though, that Katt has just enough fun at the TV Land Awards that he might start considering an official return to Ralph ... even as a guest spot on a new version.

I really thing it would be cool to see a hero movie but it's the cast and the story that concerns me. I've said this a million times but, TGAH, a large part of it was the chemistry between the characters. I mean there are very few shows where the actors act for more than a paycheck. Very few really take their careers seriously to the point where you (the audience) can really feel it. There really was something about the mixture of the 3 of them. Let's put it this way. it was like the only version of oil and water being able to be mixed. If that makes sense. I mean it really worked and I think that's why it worked. Because it wasn't supposed to and yet it did.
The story concerns me because well, as long as it stays with the integrity of the original show I shouldn't have a problem. But it should be fun and lighthearted and not dark and depressing.

Gotta once again agree with Mrs. B.
Ralph was not the show, folks. He was just one of the characters in it. Ralph AND Bill with a twist of the Counselor were the show. To separate out one of them alone would just not do it, would not bring the flavor of the show back; that's why making a movie of the show is so difficult. It's the interplay of the characters, and getting that complicated relationship right; they've got to find two actors who can elicit a feeling of characters being equally torn between deep, affectionate friendship, with opposite personalities and beliefs, which is going to be very hard to replicate. Hell, any idiot can crash in an alien suit, and any actor can play "in your face". But, Bill was MUCH MUCH more than "in your face", he had vulnerabilities, loyalties, and caring; and Ralph was more than a liberal hippie (in fact as we discussed before on another thread, he wasn't really THAT liberal), he had a lot of anger inside him (which unfortunately TGAH never had time to develop). I am not optimistic two actors aside from Culp and Katt can bring it off, nor am I optimistic that Hollywood would "get" their relationship, anyway.

^ I agree with you there, and hence why I suggested something such as an audio series where the original cast can still fit as though they're back when the show first aired. But I agree... the charm of the show was all the nuiances of all the characters: Humor, angst, anger, embarrassedness, etc. Other shows don't always have that feel, so it would be a gamble to bring back the show with new actors in the original three roles.

I posted this in another thread, but there are so many threads on the idea of a TGAH film, I thought I'd put it here too....... IF there was a movie (& I'm not sure it'd be a good idea at all unless SJC was heavily involved) I would want to see the original actors at least do cameos. As for the roles, there are hardly any actors I can think of who would do the parts justice like the original cast. (Owen Wilson as Ralph??? No way!!!) Having said that, the only actors I CAN imagine working in the roles are: As Ralph: Simon Pegg (from Shaun of the Dead & Hot Fuzz) - he has proven to have the same talent for both serious & comedic acting & has that same vunerability & likability that Katt gave the role. (Of course, being English, he'd have to fake the accent, but he's done that before.) ;D As Bill: Richard Dean Anderson - he's proven (in Stargate) that he can pull off the sarcasm & colourful turns of phrase that make the Maxwell character so much fun, & he can also handle action sequences. Plus, he's shown vunerability in both Stargate & MacGyver. As Pam: I'm still tossing a few ideas around, so I haven't got an ideal actress just yet. The whole horrible TGAHeroine fiasco would of course be totally ignored for the story of the movie. I also think the father-to-son hand-off is a good idea, if the original cast were going to play their same roles. Rather than Ralph becoming unworthy to continue using the suit, it'd be much better that he just needs to retire & pass it on. That's my 2 cents, anyway. Feel the love. dolfyn.
