If the girl can act, she has the look. I like Bruce Campbell, but I think he would make a better Carlisle to a Richard Dean Anderson version of Bill. As for the Heder, I think he is too young to some degree and I think an unknown would work better. It would be neat to see your screenplay ideas for it though...to see how they differ from mine.

I think it would be cool if Bill was some major figure at the FBI--out of the field, of course, but still with the FBI as some head honcho. Perhaps with the government knowing there's an alien suit doing good works out there. Perhaps with Bill heading up that very small, secret section.
Bill of course being the one and only CULP. Some second grade actor can be the FBI contact for the suit wearer.

If it aint broke, why fix it?
I for one do not want a remake with the same characters. Ever. If it's a whole new team, fine. But not other actors playing Ralph, Bill & Pam.
I wouldn't mind a novelization, but not a remake.

I agree, Josie. I think that it should be a new crew and my screenplay works toward that, but incorporates the original three characters with cameos.

You talk about this, but never give any real hints about it. 'Course all I know is Tony isn't one of the three, but that's cool too. I think as far as a well-known actor, Heder would fit the role well as Ralph as long as he remembers to play the role seriously (this is why I've said Owen Wilson would work, but if this happened - which sadly is doubtful). I've seen him in "SNL" playing several roles, and he has played roles that have a similar personality as Ralph. Campbell would be a good Maxwell (admittedly not as good as Culp but a very close second. And, if a spinoff, we'd need a stronger player than two-bit one to play the contact agent. ) I don't know about Monaco, but I have seen several possibilities for Pam that I don't know if I can choose just one right now. Maybe she too should be an unknown/been in a little TV.

I give few details because I want creative license to change it and not have people whining about changes I made that they disagree with, which has happened with screenplays before I have written.

What I don't get is why they (the produsers, directors etc) think they have to make the Bigscreen versions the oppisite of the original to get it to work today. Especially the drama shows. they turn the dramas into comedy and totally change the characters. one example was Starsk & Hutch. Saw it last night on FX bad bad bad. another was Dukes of Hazard
I know GAH had comedy, but I could just see them going over board with it. oh and in my opinion for the cast, they would probly make it an all girl cast.
I almost don't want them to do a remake, cause they would totally screw it up.

As long as Holly's not the wearer (unless she has a major attitude change - as having a real person mentality), I don't care. Besides, I've read some of your work before, and I know you can do a good job.

I almost don't want them to do a remake, cause they would totally screw it up. Another good example "The Wild, Wild West." Shame too, as the costuming and cinematography were really good. One of my favorite juggling routines is to the opening credits of the movie (though I wish they did use that electric guitar version of the theme I heard on an Exxon commercial.) BK probably got the best deal out of the lot, outside of Smith and his rap. GAH would be hard to cast, and hopefully they'll really pay attention to the characterizations, not put someone in it because they're a big name. I think one reason I enjoyed "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" as much as I did was because they cast Arthur and Trillian a lot like they were from the book (and both actors understood their characters) Zaphod was allright, though I wish he played him surfer bum instead of doing his Bush-like impression. They got Mos Def as Ford absolutely wrong though. He was supposed to be eccentric, and Mos Def played the character a bit flat. Basically... pay attention to the show and characters and get actors who understand the show in general. Don't rewrite the show to fit the actors, do the reverse. That's why "Maverick" was as funny and successful as it was.

Was watching Law & Order CI and thought Vincent D’Onofrio could be a good Bill if they did a movie. Gues it was something he did and i was like that is like Bill. I have seen him in other movies or shows and think he could pull it off. Just my 2 cents.

George Clooney as Bill. (dunno - just throwing it out there...) No... just no. Not after his take as Bruce Wayne in "Batman" - Too flat IMHO. I don't think he can do the role justice, especially since a lot still think of him as a heartthrob.
