Reality is so much more fun than that episode though.

I hated the Heroine even more on the DVDs because it came on Season 1 instead of on Season 3 where it belonged...I am a big fan of order watching. Even though Season 3 was a big goof-up of episodes.

Regarding Ralph's "Suit" for Heroine, I can't believe they spent money to create a brand-new suit for him (I assume they did anyway, as the material is now shiny), only to have him appear in it for 1 minute or whatever onscreen!

[glow=red,2,300]Did "Heroine" ever actually air on TV? I'm sure I would have remembered...(Of course I was in college in '86 and had other interests).[/glow]

If I had to guess no suits were available from the original show to wear, not to mention I wouldn't be surprised that more than one suit was made for TGAHeroine pilot, because they might have been in pre-production mode before the order came down to hack the script in half.

I'm sure I would have remembered...(Of course I was in college in '86 and had other interests).[/glow] The show was airing in it's syndication package when TGAHeroine pilot was added to the rotation, that was towrds the end of the first syndie run. When FX debuted in 94, they picked up the series, and Heroine was still included in the package. Current syndication, which has included KDOC TV and SHOWCASE Action out of Canada does not have Heroine included with the episodes.

I don't think it matters. Other shows are still being played in syndication and I am sure other things have changed from the TV versions to the DVD versions, but I am not sure.

Is GAH airing anywhere now that the DVDs have been released? I would think not since the syndication package contains the episodes with the original cover songs still in them, right? Or does that not count because it's just the DVD licensing issue that caused the songs to be replaced?
(sorry, I accidentally deleted this post and had to re-ad it, so the above post by houdiniderek is actually a reply to this one)
Man, that whole licensing thing is so confusing...

No kidding. He should have put them on VHS years ago and then when they went to DVD, the original songs would have been there...OH, his lack of foresight.

This show sucked because the green guys said that the world had to forget...how? Did they make it happen? If they are so all powerful, I agree with others on the board, that maybe Ralph should have been warned.

Yes, the basic premise just did not work. If they were that powerful, they could have just stopped the whole mess from happening in the first place, or "erased" it from the collective memory of the world. Just getting a new person for the suit was not going to make the world forget Ralph. These days, he'd end up on "The Surreal Life".

Or hosting some sort of television show while being serenaded by the theme song from the GREATEST AMERICAN HERO...oh, wait.

One other thing that made this suck: Ralph gave the suit away without consulting Bill. I think he should have consulted him and when Bill got mad about it being a skirt...gave it anyway...that would have been more in line with the original series. But Ralph giving it away looked like it really hurt Bill's feelings not to be included. So much for five years of friendship.

That wasn't great, no, but if you think about it, look how many times Bill did stuff behind Ralph's back (eg, This is the one the suit was meant for). Payback's a you-know-what. Besides, Ralph's always maintained it's HIS suit and he can do what he wants with it.
I think he should've talked to Bill though, I agree, esp. since Bill was working so hard as well to find a replacement to wear it. Bet HE wasn't looking at any skirts, of course.
Like I've said before, that scene reminds me of tirades O'Neill on SG-1 has gone on, lol, reinforcing my opinion that RDA would be awesome as Bill Maxwell.

I concur that he would be great...why do you think I suggested him? And I agree that it could be payback, but that scene does not exactly reinforce their bond of friendship. I think that had he talked to Bill and brought those other situations up that Bill really would have seen that he was stuck with Holly. I just think it went against the nature of the show.

One thing that really annoyed me about the DVD release of GAHeroine was the fact that they put a copywrighted song, the real original, not even a re-done cover song in the episode whereas on all the other episodes they replaced the cover songs. Kind of poors salt in the wound that the worst episode gets to keep the original music. I guess this was a minor technicality since the heroine episode was a 'bonus' ep or something.

Bonus, huh? Kind of like going to the bank and owing them money then.

Bonus, huh? Kind of like going to the bank and owing them money then. Well, some bonuses are great others not. This was good, because, like it or not, it is an extra story (though more a what-if type).

I have a lot of comments on the other thread about why HEROINE was good, but a lot of it DID suck.

Has anyone mentioned the obvious yet?
Why did The Greatest American Heroine suck?
To get to the other side. (I think that one up every single time I see this thread...)
