seeing as there are over a million proboards (and maybe some day they'll add an actual SEARCH FEATURE so the ones you want can be found), I've never checked with them about either a password protected area or an all-18+ board. Am I going to burn for this now, or what? They are actually working on a search feature for the next version from what I understand with the mods I talk to over there.

Okay, I don't see ANYTHING in the Proboards' Terms of Service (ToS) that says content has to be within guidelines accepted by 13 year old US children: "ProBoards.com (the "Provider") is providing a service to individuals (the "User") who are at least 18 years old or minors 13 years old and above who have parental permission."(That is the ONLY PLACE 13 year olds are mentioned.) Then, a little further down, re: Content: "User's web site may not contain content promoting the use of illegal drugs, alcohol, sex, pornography, nudity, or any other form of adult content, profanity, hate, "spam," fraud, racism, mlm, pyramid schemes, or promote any illegal activity."(Bold emphasis mine.) Note, PROMOTING seems to be the overall theme of this section of the CONTENT RESTRICTIONS. Are any of our boards or password protected areas PROMOTING any of these things? I don't think so. Here is the link to the ToS that I was citing from: www.proboards.com/tos.html

I am working on getting a literal rendition of it right now (although MelMac might be better for THAT job).

HD, that's why I bolded "promoting" and "promote," since they went to it not once but twice in that statement.
Yeah, over on the thread MT referenced on their support board, I asked for clarification on that, and if they mean two separate things, maybe they should separate it. Make one section about PROMOTING that stuff, then "additionally" or something. Just so it's not so vague.

Make one section about PROMOTING that stuff, then "additionally" or something. Just so it's not so vague. I understand what you meant, but the TOS is based on laws and since THOSE are never worded easily, the TOS is not either. I have been told that you can discuss mature topics to some degree as long as you don't promote it. For example, the Pam board is fine because there is a debate about prostitution being legalized. Since we are not promoting prostitution in the current regime by how much money they can make and such, but are talking about whether the industry should be regulated by the government, we are somewhat safe. And I moderated that discussion quite heavily to make sure that it was within the TOS of Proboards. However, other areas might indeed be outside the realm, which is what I am currently discussing with most of the staff over there. (It takes a while...I have been over there for hours talking to staff). One example that might fall victim to the TOS is fan fiction because of what it might promote...on purpose OR by accident. Another one is captions. I am trying to get some hard and fast rules on it. Also, BW, they might not answer you over there. They did not really answer MyTatuo because he hijacked a thread...and now, so have you. So, they may decide NOT to answer or to just lock it up. As for the two members (the number of stars does not matter over there as it does some places), since they are not staff, they cannot say for sure what will happen. Your best bet is to start a new thread and ask specifics and see if one of the mods or admins will answer you.

I am working on getting a literal rendition of it right now (although MelMac might be better for THAT job). I do actually. Thank you HD. From what I'm guessing is yes, they are right now doing an all encompassing notation from that. I can also see from their POV reading promoting as it just being on the boards. When something's on the board, it is a promotion (such as the advertisements on each of the boards.) That is exact literalism, but none the less that can be an interpretation of it. The problem is, however, 13 year olds are exposed to stuff that would've been considered R or MA rated back when even I was little (and I'm 28). Therein lies part of the problem on the issue. Unless they're specific in what is/isn't permissible, then you run the risk of problems with any little thing that can be considered offensive. Some things I can see as being red flags: Explicit sex or rape, giving the idea a crime's a good thing to do, brutality to people, animals or things, or even the harshest language, such as many four letter words that are listed in the censors by default.

It's too bad this idea faltered. I would have liked to seen a place where innuendo might have been more appropriate and some more mature topics discussed. Granted, this forum does pretty well with it anyway, but this would have given us a little extra way to let our hair down so to speak. Oh well.

Um, there is a whole board devoted to adult topics... what is the problem??
Just because you don't want to join it?

Actually, that would be a FORUM...the GAH.COM SITE is a board. And I liked the idea of having it on the hub. Besides, I am talking about all mature topics and from what I hear about the topics over there, it is mainly fantasies about being with people you can't be with, right, Josie?

Um, it can be about whatever you make of it, HD.
That's the whole point of boards or forums or listserves. If no one does anything on it, it's nothing. If people go on and create something new and original, it becomes that thing.
Anyway, you wouldn't even know what's in there, since you haven't joined up.
A year ago, who would have imagined this forum would be offering original, professionally made cartoon adventures by AAH, and a GAH Match Game?

A year ago, who would have imagined this forum would be offering original, professionally made cartoon adventures by AAH, and a GAH Match Game? Actually I could because this forum has stayed roughly the same and has not undergone DRASTIC overhauls as other forums have done. This forum, being the main hub, has always been more receptive to GAH ideas and the like and those you mentioned are logical expansions of this site's premise to my mind. True, I can't say from not having joined, only from what members have told me. I just think one here would have been nice because it would have SOUNDED open to all GAH...after all, some of the URLs don't give that mentality or the forum names. How is SCENARIO in the title supposed to make me consider someone other than Bill?

I did not make that name up... but it's not just Bill.... It BECOMES just Bill if only Bill fans go there.....
Since others go, it is not. It will never become more PAM centric if you don't help MyT out a bit.... right?
