FYI, I just found out that Anchor Bay is releasing Witchboard as a special edition DVD this August with a commentary track. Perhaps more info on the Beast house will surface. This is actually a pretty good horror flick. Hey thanks for the info! I'll pick it up when it's released.

Hey, how do y'all know that guy's name isn't really William, and his last name begins with K? I knew someone in my youth whose initials are WK after all.
Not having seen GAH in years, I didn't know the big to-do about "The Beast in the Black." I read on one site that Culp did an extraordinary job in that ep, when Bill died. Man, wish I'd watched it when I had access to the S2 DVDs at my friend's house.
I'm wondering: how long does it take to get approval for membership on this board? I got the activation email and all, just waiting till I'm approved so I can start posting stuff in the other areas.
Bill Maxwell fan all da way, baby! (My current favorite ep is, of course, "Lilacs, Mr. Maxwell," written and directed by Robert Culp.)
Hey, also, who says only guys love GAH? Someone above said something about getting chicks.

Hey, how do y'all know that guy's name isn't really William, and his last name begins with K? what a very fortunate coincidence... Welcome Billsgrrl, I don't know about the approval thingy, when I joined it was just a matter of clicking on the activation link sent via email. "Lilacs" is one of my favorites too, very weeping and revealing episode. See you around soon!

Hmmmm, I went to my email with the activation code again, to see if I'd done something wrong. I clicked on the URL in the message, and it said "Login to continue the activation process." I logged in and now it says what it's said for a few days now: that my membership is awaiting staff approval. This is getting very frustrating, as I REALLY want to be able to use the rest of this board!
As for "Lilacs, Mr Maxwell," I'm writing a sequel to it (it's on fanfiction.net, under my nym of sg1niner), and already have a sequel to the sequel in mind, if any of y'all wanna peruse it. A review would be most welcomed, including constructive criticism. I'm finding Bill's not as easy to write as my other favorite TV characters are!
Lupin, I LOVE your avatar, can I steal it? Also, where's your quote "You picked a skirt!" from? I heard a soundbite on another site where Ralph's telling Bill he's (Ralph) a jr. miss, not a petite, lol. Was wondering if that was the same episode, altho I don't know that one either.
The soundbite I like on this site (the GAH shrine) is Bill going "Oh, ah, that's heavy, man. You are SOOO sexy!" Cracks me up just typing it!

No worries, Supreme Being; I belong to another board that's on ProBoards, and I know they had that recent major upgrade. Glad to be here, and looking forward to snooping around the place! (Love your rank, btw)

Thank you Billsgrrl! Sure, help yourself --mi avatar es tu avatar.. I always loved Bill eating dog phood and if you remember the episode (30 sec. over little Tokyo) there is a part where Bill walks into the living room with a bowl of cream, dog buiscuits and his guns while the lazer engineer stares at him for a second or two like he's seen a madman. I borrowed a frame from that sequence. "You picked a skirt" is what Bill says in "The Greatest American Heroine" when he finds out that his new partner is going to be a girl this time round. Ralph was given the task to find the most suitable person to pass on the suit to and he picked a.. girl. It's from the same episode you mentioned. Well, glad to see that you have your membership thingy sorted, will surely read your Lilacs scenario as soon as I have a minute.

Speaking of funny avatars, I found this little convo via a search of the board to see if anyone else has asked this, but does anyone know a good place to glom more GAH avatars and icons? I joined the GAH comm on livejournal, as well as this board, and was hoping to get some funny ones. Icon-making has evolved into a little medium all its own, and there're some great Trek icons on LJ, was wondering if there were similar for GAH. I made this little Robert Culp icon, from when he was directing in "Lilacs...." but sadly I'm too much of a doofus to add a caption to it without it looking lousy. Sorry if this is a recap of earlier posts, I'm still learning my way around.

Hi, there! Love the site and the great dialogue - nice to see so many thoughtful and thought-provoking people in one place. I've been a fan since the pilot premiered back in the day and I'm eager to share my love of all things GAH.
I wanted to check on my my membership request - I put it in about a week ago and it still comes up "Pending" so... Is there a secret word I neglected to use? Er, how about, "Open, Scenario!" :7D
"silverhammer" is the handle I submitted and I'm kind of pleased with it so it would be great if that went through...
I know I should just wait patiently... but I can't. I'd blame youthful exuberance, but I guess I put the kibosh on that gambit in my first paragraph. Is there such a thing as middle-aged exuberance? ;7>
signed, "silverhammer"-to-be

I hope tbd's approved soon, too, for membership; she's the one that wrote the awesomely good "Contact" and "In Your Dreams" that I mention in the Fan Fiction Index thread.

tbd/silverhammer, greenguy logged in this morning, so if you haven't been approved yet, let me know and I'll go over and bust his head. Or at least call him. };^P EDIT: Now that I look at the member listing, I note that the newest-newest (as of this writing) is "androscoe", probably short for "and her magical cat roscoe", NDP of the above mentioned author. (At first I thought it was short for "androgynous", but that makes no sense.) Also, a week ago, silverhammer joined, with the same email and ip addresses. So now that person has TWO logins. Satifisfied? tbd/silverhammer/androscoe, before you start posting, you can message me and we can reset your password for silverhammer, unless you prefer androscoe? Let me know...

silverhammer, I can't tell what that little caption on your avatar says. Is it "Va ha, humor" ?

The caption's tiny, isn't it? You can see it better at PhotoBucket. It says "Yo, Ho, hmm..."
I can't seem to get the dimensions right to maximize the way the avatar is displayed. I used a 72 screen resolution and the jpg is (if I remember right) 100pxl by 89pxl or so - it should be under the resize limit, but do I need to make it 99 to keep it from shrinking?
Help! This is my first avatar and I'd like it to be legible...

I don't know if this is relevant to what you do, but when I take screencaps in Winscreen, I take them at 200x200, adjust the brightness/contrast, and add the caption if I want one. The free version only allows you to save them as a bitmap, so I save it, go to Paint and choose Image/Stretch, Skew. I change the numbers to 50 and 50, which reduces the 200x200 to 100x100, the perfect size for an avatar. Save it again, this time as a .jpg (if you can do that). Once you upload to PB, of course, you then punch in the URL to this site's "modify profile" and you don't need to put in the sizing in the appropriate boxes, or else just put in 100 and 100 (sorry if I tell you the painfully obvious, I'm not sure what you do and don't know about this).
If for some reason you can't save the original .bmp to a .jpg, you can find yet ANOTHER freebie on zdnet (I love that site) called Imagicon. It converts images of various formats to whatever format you choose. You simply highlight the image files and do a drag/drop to Imagicon. I did over 300 images in one shot, and it converted them all quickly and easily to jpegs, storing them in the directory I'd designated. Very cool little tool. (for some reason, the version of MS Paint that I have, since I re-did my OS, doesn't give .jpg as a save option, so I found Imagicon.)

change the image size to90w 100h below the option where you put in your choices if you haven't already. (on this board when you load it)

That did it! Thanks, ms boku - I knew it was something basic I was missing. Who knew you had to follow instructions? I adjusted the contrast as well - I forgot how much higher the luminosity is on my G5 than on a tube or laptop monitor. It looked muddy on my at the office. How do you like the painterly effect? Makes me want to put together some mock Romance novel covers. Maybe I'll play around with that this weekend.
