Let me see if I got this right...If I buy an advanced general admission ticket it will cost $14 per person, right? Now do you have to pay any other fees? I'm assuming you have to buy a 8 x 10 flat at the show if you want an autograph, is that correct?

Why? It would be easier to take in pictures you already have I would think. If I go, I am thinking of taking the trivia books and such out of the DVDs and having them sign their pictures. I might do the same for Dirk Benedict and Dwight Schultz...no reason to let my A-Team DVD collection miss out.

Everyone there will charge you to sign stuff you bring in yourself; your own pics, DVDs etc. They will also charge to pose for pics with you. I have to admit that I'm having second thoughts about going, because it's like being a kid in a candy store. It's very difficult to control your spending. You go in saying, "I'm only going to spend X-dollars...and then I'm going home", or, "I'm just gonna get Culp, Katt, and The A-Team...and that's it". Then you just end up spending all the cash you have, and then you have to try to convince your landlord to accept autographed headshots of Buck Rogers and Twiki in lieu of cash when your rent is due (it never works, trust me). I'm not saying that I'm not going, now; but that there is a downside to be considered.

I've never been to any of these more commercially minded cons before, or is this actually a con?
I've only been to regional ones, up here in the Seattle area, where part of the programming includes autograph sessions, you simply stand in whatever line to get signatures, no money crossing hands like you mention.
To tell you the truth, to me, that'd just be too weird. I'm not entirely sure I'd do it, even for Robert Culp. Now, if he came to a convention HERE, like Norwescon (the largest regional con in the US), and there was an hour-long panel with him talking, etc etc (these generally don't include autographs, unless the guest is feeling gracious after an hour), I'd rather go listen to him and ask questions of him during the usual Q&A portion, near the end.
I dunno, maybe I'm not so sorry I'm not going. Sure, SEEING Culp would be awesome, but... I dunno.
I personally like John Denver's Autograph... one of his best songs (he refused to give autographs, so anyone who has one is truly truly lucky.) It'd seem a lot more personal if Culp, for instance, wrote a good in-depth book aimed at his fans, maybe including a compilation of questions from his fans with answers.
(Apologies to those con-goers who know what I'm talking about... I mention things above to those unfortunate enough to have never been to a sci-fi con.)

I just want to get Katt & Culp, and possibly the "Jeannie" cast. My better half wants to see the Wrestlers...MEN! So, were looking at what..$5 per 8 x 10 at the show? What's the current going rate to pose in a picture?

More like $10 - $20 for an 8 x 10. Unlike other conventions, Chiller does not pay their celebrity guests, so they have to make up for it by charging a little extra. It's pricey, but it's a once in a life time experience, yo!

You would think if they were all that popular and had fan bases that they could afford not to have to charge you for every little thing. I agree with J-Man that you can nickel and dime your way to the poorhouse at these things. I still might go too, but it is something to ponder.

Damn! I got 8 x 10's autographed of MLB & NFL Hall-of-Famers for less than that!

It's almost not worth going too. Not just for the expenses that you would encur at the conference because they are money-grubbers, but for the fact that I hate to see people out of their characters I got used to them in. Interviews are okay on DVD sets because they have the flashbacks of the show and such. However, in person, they would be popular for more than one show usually and they have a myriad of fans, and it would be tough. I don't even want to think how poorly H.M. Murdock and the FACEMAN of the A-Team may have aged. Maybe I will just stay home and think how great it would have been.

It's pricey, but it's a once in a life time experience, yo! Technically, it's a once in a year experience, but I imagine Robert Culp isn't going to live forever. BTW, extra credit for anyone who knows where our guest, The White Bone Demon, gets his name from.

Well, my sister and brother-in-law just told me that they're taking me to Chiller Theatre for my birthday. But should I have expected any less from two people who have actually gone out in public with me dressed like this (when it wasn't even Halloween)?

Just paid for my tickets online Wednesday! I'm there! Billswoman, do you want me to get you an auto??? Holy christmas, would I ever!! I didn't even wanna ask, thinking it highly unlikely. Lemme know how much it all is to get it and mail it, and I'll send you dollars. That'd be the third autograph from a favorite actor, wow, I could start a real collection! Although Roddy McDowall might be tough, lol.. Sorry, Roddy, R.I.P. Oops, hey, MrsM, go read the PM from me... something about what I'm going to write to Mr. Culp about, for reals...

Somebody pinch me!!! "I'll give you SUCH a pinch!" Heavy sigh. I'll surely be there in spirit at least. It's not the same, but I'm bidding on something on eBay: an 11x14 poster of Robert Culp, a trade ad for "Lilacs, Mr. Maxwell." It specifically mentions "Written and Directed by Robert Culp." Too bad I couldn't get that in time for it to be autographed Nobody else better bid on this, or I'll be very very annoyed (LOL, j/k... sort of....) Hey, MrsM, tell Mr. Culp billswoman loves him! LOL j/k again... sort of... I'm such a doofus.

Billswoman, we can have a pity party here this weekend.

No pity party necessary...you didn't miss a thing! I paid $14 per ticket, and drove 150 miles (round trip) and didn't even get to see Culp and Katt! Chiller Theater (whoever the HELL they are) sucks!
They sold way too many tickets, and the event was poorly organized. It was held at the Sheraton Meadowlands (across from Giants Stadium). It should have been held at a large venue like an exhibition center. There was a line for people with tickets (long), a line for people without tickets (even longer), and a line to get in to see the guests (ridiculous). The guests were outside in a TENT! It was 40 degrees, and they made people wait to see the scheduled guests in a TENT! Oh, the GUESTS were in the tent. The poor slobs who were suckered into buying a ticket had to wait in the cold. Even if I had met Culp and Katt, I'm sure the snot that ran out of my nose while waiting in line would have gotten all over my camera, and any 8 x 10 I may have purchased!
The exhibitors/vendors were packed into tiny rooms, and the fire department showed up and said things were out of control. Pretty soon you had a bunch of white guys dressed in black trench coats standing around doing nothing except whine about the possible delayed release of the new King Kong movie, or claiming to be friends of celebrities!
Screw you Chiller Theater! You ruined my dream! I waited in shorter lines and more comfortable accommodations to get autographs of Hall-Of-Fame athletes. (Household names like Dan Marino & Joe Namath). I hope all of you Chiller Theater people get hit by a NJ Transit bus on the way home!
I apologize for my language fellow GAH fans, but I'm massively PISSED right now.....

Oh man, MrsM, no need to apologize, that's just horrid!! Horrid for you and the real fans out there who truly wanted to see their favorites, and horrid for the guests. I sure hope this doesn't put many of them off from future events (run by better staff next time!)
