This is the only message board I've ever seen where people actually respond to the spammers.

Nice, Claye. You can't erase it NOW, MelMac. And BW, I have seen it in other places, but it actually seems to happen infrequently that this place gets spammed, that it is more fun to beat the mods to it by making jokes about it.

At least this one allowed for more creativity. And, when you have a day that's been almost non-stop, you tend to get more laughs out of comments for Spam than you do the luncheon meat Spam. ...

Sweet! More luncheon meat! I'm gonna fry this one up & make a sandwich. Anyone else want one? I'm totally poor tonight (thank goodness tomorrow's payday), and I came close to cookin' up some Spicy Hot Spam (it's got Tabasco in it). Instead I opted for corned beef hash. With ketchup. Eating this stuff was a mistake, apparently. I'd been nauseous all day, and putting this on that wasn't wise. I just about tossed my toenails, simply from bending over to pick something up. I miss real food. (Counting the hours till the money hits the bank.)

Too poor for real food?
Lentil soup.
1/2 pound lentils - 32 cents ? 1 small onion - 30 cents ? 1 garlic clove - 5 cents ? 2 tbs olive oil - ? 10 cents? Water - free 1 celery stalk - optional, 10 cents? 1 lemon - 50 cents (squirt a bit of a wedge when done) salt - 1 cent 1/8 cup rice - 10 cents Season with whatever you have around. Oregano, thyme, basil, hot sauce, bay leaves, whatever.
About $1.50 total - max. Serves 7. $1.50 for 7 meals. Yes. You heard me. Seven servings. That's 25 cents a meal. You've got that in your couch.
Add a piece of bread, and you're set. Sprinkle some croutons if you have them.
Buy a bag of lentils next time you are at the grocery, and keep it on hand for your next lean pay week. And it's really low fat! And it's good for you.
Amount Per Serving Calories 184 Total Fat 4.3g (get rid of the oil if it bothers you) Saturated Fat 0.6g Cholesterol 0mg Sodium 385mg (get rid of the salt if it bothers you) Carbohydrate 28.5g Dietary Fiber 9.1g (stock up on toilet paper) Sugars 3g Protein 9g (Holy Guacamole!! That's good eating) Vitamin A 40% Vitamin C 8% Calcium 3% Iron 16%

I've learned that for one person, a box of spaghetti can last four or five meals, and if you add stuff such as mushrooms, salad shrimp, etc., it can be just as filling as a steak dinner. Ramen noodles for a while were a common staple in my diet, but only because I needed the sodium (usually after a day playing a Looney Tune). They're 18 cents to 25 cents, so that helped out some cost wise. You just can't eat that all the time though b/c of sodium and fat. And, I have to admit corned beef hash and ketchup sounds like it'd be a treatment for food poisoning. (This coming from someone who has had sweet and sour pig's feet only because a friend of hers made it. Not to mention the seaweed another offered her. ) Hope you're feeling better billswoman.

It's easy when you have the answers due to the IPs and such. You probably would not know otherwise.
