One episode, "DEAD WEIGHT" is MISSING the LAST 10 minutes of the show -- save the comedy 'tag" at the end, it goes right from the middle of the show to the comedy tag without the last 10 minutes of action and plot resolution. And I just wrote a good review of the set on Amazon! Sheesh!

Anyone have a clue if this has been corrected on the 2nd season sets?

Has anyone been habitually purchasing this series? I have heard a lot about it and I remember it being on when I was younger, but I have never seen it. Is it worth it to start saving my pennies to add this SJC production to my list of serial TV on DVD wishlist...or are there better ones that I should have first? I am relying on some of the old-timers here to help!

For above two posts:
They definitely have a fixed disc, as they did mail it to me...it's likely now replaced the original defective one in the stores, except there's a good that Anchor Bay burned off the original inventory before sending out sets with the correct disc...so I really think it's a crapshoot as to whether anyone would buy a set with the good disc or not...
I think any Cannell fan would like the first 3 seasons of STALKINGS...the little show that could! The Cannell humor, over-the-top scripts, stars with chemistry...and of course, a few episodes that plain stink (a Cannell trademark!) THey can be had pretty cheap these days....

Cool! I might have to start adding it to my collection. How many seasons are out now?

And there were how many seasons? Ten or eleven? Might need to get that as a Christmas gift.

There were 8 seasons, but not all with the same cast. The leads eventually changed.

Oh. I hate it when that happens. I am OCD and love to collect an entire series...but that might temper my enthusiasm.

I actually enjoyed the show more with Chris Potter & Janet Gunn in the leads then those other actors. I would only buy those seasons.

I assume the ones you mention are the ones in the later seasons?

I assume the ones you mention are the ones in the later seasons? You would assume correctly, as usual.......Old cast was Mimi Kapture and Rob something....I know he was on Melrose Place!

I assume the ones you mention are the ones in the later seasons? Potter and Gunn were in the final 3 seasons if I remember correctly. At some point before those two, a different pair were featured. I especially remember the male lead was a awful actor. This was at some point between Estes/Kapture, and Potter/Gunn. Or maybe they came on the show in the season as Estes and Kapture were leaving, intending to be their replacements.....and sucked. So they were replaced by Potter and Gunn.

That's too bad. That is one of the major things that is keeping me from getting the last two seasons of DUE SOUTH. I hate replacements of characters. Why not just make two new ones?

The first five seasons were the Kapture/Estes years, which many (obviously not all) consider the "classic Silk"; the two leads left halfway through the fifth season, replaced by two terrible nobodies. The show then decided not to go cheap, and brought in two established actors for the final three seasons, which is why I think some prefer the final three; Chris Potter and Janet Gunn had some fans going into the show. But I didn't like the final three (and apparently, they aren't coming out on dvd anyway); the show never once mentioned the original characters, even though it was the same police station and same Captain. It was like they were doing a brand new show...
Only they weren't; I think you could easily survive on the first 3 SILK seasons, as season 4 got a little too serious and tried to create these long term romances for the cops that weren't that interesting; season five is real strange in that the actors started quitting (and getting pregnant!) So they had to rush the original characters' stories to a conclusion. I don't feel they did it well.
But the first three seasons are typical, fun Cannell-tv, done a lot cheaper than the prime-time shows, but ultimately carving out its own little success (as Cannell points out on the extras, it was his longest running show!)

I might have to try for just the first three then. I am a big fan of most of SJC's work, but my OCD might not let me stop at three.

So, do you think seasons 6-8 will ever come out on DVD? I have been watching some episodes I have on VHS and I am now remembering how much I enjoyed the show (especially Chris Potter) and I am so hoping to be able to see all the shows. SJC could certainly cast a show!!

I do hope the DVD's come out soon. Seasons 6-8 were funnier, as Tom and Cassie were divorced and partners on the force and that made for really great scenes between them. I loved Janet Gunn's hair in the 6th season so much, I took a picture of her to my hairdresser to get that cut. I still sometimes get that cut today. (PS: I have it now)
