A West Coast fan of TGAH sent me an obit this week for a John "Ace" Arens. As we know in the 1st seasons The Best Desk Scenario, Maxwell is having a tough time with the passing of a Senior investigator that was the same age a "Ace Arens". Was the REAL Mr. Arens a friend of Juanita Bartlett or Stephen J. Cannell? Both are credited for that episodes script, and my first draft copy includes no other lines about the man than what was filmed. If he was friends with one of the two, what an odd twist of fate that Mr. Arens died of a heart attack. With both Cannell and Bartlett gone now who knows for sure, and we never actually see an obit on the screen to see if the full name matched the real man. So while this is a bit of a stretch in TGAH world, R.I.P. Mr. Arens

Wow. That's interesting.
And I didn't know Juanita was gone I guess.

Bartlett died back in 2014. I had no idea she was born in 1927, until after she had passed away. I always thought she was closer to Cannell's age.
Seeing a REAL Ace Arens obit was quite a surprise. I don't know how common the Arens name is, I don't know anyone with that last name and when the nickname Ace is with it...

Yeah, that's the full obit I found also. He's in the right age range to have known Bartlett or Cannell, so if it's not a coincidence my guess he was a personal friend of one of them.
