Remember how someone posted a YouTube link to Joey Scarbury's performance of the theme song on "Solid Gold"? Unfortunately, it was deleted. There's (partial) hope to be found, though, because I found another vid that has a short clip of Joey's performance (around the 4:12 mark): www.youtube.com/watch?v=StlU-2rliR0&feature=relatedIt's from a Japanese program called "Best Hit Music," which, like "American Bandstand" or "Solid Gold," featured a countdown of the top songs of the week.

Rick Springfield..He was my first concert and I met him too. Got the pic to prove it. I won backstage passes. It was great! That was when MTV was Music Television.

A lot of people still know the song too. I wish more stations played it on the radio.

Yeah...MTV these days is more reality series and far less music. And Derek, I agree. The last time I heard it on the radio was on the "Lost 45s" program, and I've heard it in several stores' Muzak players as well. (Wouldn't let me multi-quote...so here we are.)

There's a local radio station in my area called 'The Dove' and they play 'Believe it or Not' every single day. I have it on at work and they always play it early in the morning or early afternoon. One day the host mentioned the song and referenced the show on the air calling it 'underrated.' The funny thing is one day they played it and the following song played right after was 'Rocketman' by Elton John.

I like that station, culpkatt. I used to play songs from GAH when I was on the radio...I played all the songs from the pilot and others if I could do it. BELIEVE IT OR NOT was not in the system unfortunately.

Did you host a station program while you were in college, Derek? The radio forum has always fascinated me, especially the early heydays of radio in the 30s and 40s. I used to collect old radio programs on cassette tape when I was a kid.

I used to host a couple of different ones. It depended on the week I worked and the time slot. I was mainly a radio news reporter, but I did a lot of announcing on the side. Of course, I didn't do it in college. I happened to be in college and worked at the local triumvirate of radio stations in town.

The first time I heard it anywhere other than the record I had was when it was on the DVD Farenheit 9/11. Then I decided to dig out my old records and listen to it.

This is a local radio station that plays 'Believe It Or Not' every single day: wduv.com/They also play a few other songs covered on GAH.

I will have to keep checking it at random times...I checked the last songs list and nothing is there by Joey.

Yes the song was popular here in the USA I believe it went all the way to either #1 or #2 on the top 100 or charts in 1981.
