Can anyone comment on the characters evolved over the series? In most shows the wirtten character slowly evolves into the personality of the actor (Dr. Smith of Lost in Space being the most obvious example). In GAH I noticed most that Maxwell was at first always saying that he was "by the book" but by mid second season he was being scolded for always being a "rule breaker", a "hot dog", and never following orders. Did the suit change him or was that just Bill Culp?

To me, Maxwell was kind of a jerk in the first season. He started to become the Maxwell I loved right at the end of season one (The Best Desk Scenario) and was much more lovable and a stronger character in season two overall (IMHO).
Never thought about the whole 'by the book' turning to 'rule breaker'. He was pretty much always 'by the book' as far as the law went - he just broke Carlisle's rules. LOL Actually, I think that's a quote "... I don't break my rules, Carlisle. I just break yours..." End of "Plague", I think. Man, I need help.
;D

It seemed to me that Ralph got more unhappy as time went on, which, apparently reflects how Katt was feeling. Maybe it was just because they showed him less and less with his students, until his title of schoolteacher became extraneous. His classroom scenes made him human and vulnerable.
(No...I'm not just saying that because less class time meant less Paré time.)

Can anyone comment on the characters evolved over the series? Well, um, Ralph's hair got shorter, and, uh, Paco's hair got longer.

MAN I wish there was some way of finding out which episodes where shot in which order. I know we've discussed how "Lilacs..." was shot mid-season two but not aired until the end of the season because of ABC hating Culp's scripts, but I'd LOVE to know the complete shooting order of the entire series, ESPECIALLY season three. It sure feels like episodes like Desperado were shot much earlier when the show was still running at full steam, yet it's the second to last episode listed.
