Who the hell is Piper Laurie?
Homie!! You've gotta go out and rent or buy "Carrie" (the 1976 original), like, now! Piper Laurie plays Carrie's mother. It's a kick-ass performance, and the film co-stars a young, pre-GAH William Katt, among many others; see here: www.imdb.com/title/tt0074285/The DVD has recent interviews with Katt and most of the cast...though I do find it vaguely creepy how much Betty Buckley and William Katt have grown to resemble each other by the turn of the century...

Sometimes I know an actor's face but I absolutely ignore the name or viceversa and I am often lazy but I did have in mind to look P.Laurie up on imdb. This is my kind of movie also, all has to do with darskide, horror, powers deserves to be watched, I have to put it on my rental list as soon as I have a minute. And btw, you also wrote it: "Stephen King's novel "Carrie"", I should read more carefully. yes, I remember I saw some pictures somewhere where this resemblance was pointed out, there was also a discussion about a censored scene in the shower or something.

I just watched Carrie and guess what? I did watch this movie before on TV but did not realize it was it. The movie is all about causing this girl a cruel existance which she could escape thanks to her powers. Sad how they make fun of her and even more sad is how her bonehead mother (who is living in her own religious madness after being raped) raises Carrie in an absurd mental and physical condition, all about punishment. I must admit I enjoyed the car blast when the John Travolta and friend tried to kill her. William Katt was very young in this movie and had very long hair.
But I still prefer Piper Perabo to Piper Laurie, he he ;D

originally I wrote "the couple".
I'd like to see Carrie's mother singing in the church chorus with Freakshow from Harold and Kumar.
