I was watching an episode of MASH yesterday...Xmas episode from Season 1...There is a scene where Hawkeye dressed as Santa is lowered by copter onto a battlefield where some injured troops are in a ditch. One uninjured troop was telling his buddies thta help was on the way. The credits listed the young soldier as Bill Katt...

Good catch. I wonder if he went by Bill sometimes aside from his singing.

For some reason, I vaguely remember this. I know there's another ep with a guy that looks a LOT like Katt, but I know it wasn't. When I first saw the thread title, I thought this guy was being confused with Katt. I seem to recall seeing "Bill" instead of William and being confused for a sec, till I realized it was WILLIAM Katt.
I know a lot of soon-to-be-famous actors were on MASH, including Laurence Fishburn (sp?) and Patrick Swayze, for two examples of many.
So many Bills, so little time. Sigh.

Yes, but I figured Bill Maxwell was the Bill Supremo.

The episode William Katt's in is called "Dear Dad," and is part of the first season collection.
It's the only "M*A*S*H" collection I have, and there are a few good stories in that season.
(A bit OT in an OT section) I also get a kick at the guy who played Mulchachy (sp) in the pilot. I've always wondered if it's the guy who was in the role in the movie. The only one I know for sure that did both was Gary Burghoff, who plays Radar. Interesting thing to me is that Burghoff matches the character in the book, both in appearance and the way he played the character.

There were three Mulcahys: Film version: Rene Auberjonois www.imdb.com/name/nm0041281/(Star Trek:Deep Space Nine; Benson) Pilot version George Murdock www.imdb.com/name/nm0613787/(giant god head from Star Trek V; Dummy that trades places with ventriloquist Cliff Robertson in that Twilight Zone Episode; Admiral Hansen in Star Trek: TNG - The Best of Both Worlds) Series version William Christopher www.imdb.com/name/nm0160639/

All three were good, but I liked Christopher's the best.

Here're two factoids about Rene Auberjonois:
His mother's a Princess. His direct ancestor, I think great grandfather, was King Marat of Malta? (If I remember right; it's on IMDB.com). Any way, Rene's middle name is Marat. He is descended from Josephine Bonapart's family line.
He was offered the job of Mulcahy for the TV series and turned it down.
As anyone who knows MASH knows, Gary Burghoff (Radar) is the only one to have been in both the movie and the series.

Just watched a Season 8 episode where a baby was left at the Swamp. The camp wanted to send the baby home but had to go thru an army bureaucrat who denied them sending the baby to the States. Instead, they leave the baby with a monestary. The army bureaucrat was played by...
William Bogert (Carlisle)

Took a trip to The Paley Center for Media yesterday (that's formerly The Museum of Television & Radio). Just decided on a whim to look for this episode. Very sweet moment! : D

Very sweet moment! : D It was nice, but I still to this day find it immensely funny Katt is credited for this appearance (two lines) but NOT in "Emergency!" where he had a larger role.
