Anyone played this? It's an online multiplayer role-playing game set in fictional Paragon City, Rhode Island, where players can create super heroes out of hundreds of possible body styles and costume options, from spandex to armor. Players earn more powers as they level, and battle a myriad of baddies from street gangs to terrorist organizations to evil mystics to interstellar alien invaders. While creating characters close in look or names to previously-established characters from movies or comic books is discouraged, I have managed to piece together my own Greatest American Hero sequel: His superhero name: "Magic Jammies." ;D Later on, when I earned the right to create alternate costumes, I came up with a special Ralph Hinkley tribute version, complete with blond hair and shorter cape. Sorry, no "curly" hair option was available! The powers i have chosen include: flight, various forms of super strength, near-invulnerability (no Superman types in this game), invisibility, and the ability to teleport teammates to my location. In another couple of levels, I will have the ability to shoot laser beams out of my eyes. Sounds like a suit power to me! And to my surprise, I have run into quite a few other players who actually recognized the character, even with the dark hair. And those who were too young back in the day to know the character at least loved the name! ;D

Never played the game (and my computer wouldn't let me,) but cool pics videofox. It's funny how many people my age and younger recognize the jammies, even if they don't remember the show. Looks like the game's a lot of fun too. Makes you think too, that with them having near-invulnerability, that the designer thought about "GAH," at least subconsciously.

Nice imaging, videofox...did you make sure that you don't know how to shoot laser beams so you are constantly messing up like Ralph would have done?

Well, in fact, part of the game involves enhancing powers as you go, adding points to damage inflicted and even accuracy, so yeah, at first it will "misfire" quite a bit. Too bad there's no collateral damage involved; it would be funny to totally miss an enemy and "cook a train or something." And a lack of accuracy for something like eye beams is totally weird; after all, how can you possibly miss something you are looking directly at???

I am sure there are superheroes that have those skeletons in their closet...of missing with their laser beams when looking directly at something.

You're probably not too far off there. I've also recently started playing the spin-off game, City of Villains. Instead of rescuing hostages, you get to do the kidnapping, plus rob banks, etc. I just still can't get into that whole "evil" thing though...it's just not me. Anyhoo, I figured if I had the Greatest American Hero on the Heroes game, I should come up with something GAH for the Villains side. Granted, Ralph doesn't exactly have a rogues gallery of supervillains, but he has gone up against two or three adversaries that are a cut above the human norm. Anybody care to guess who this might be? There are special zones set up between the two games that allow Heroes and Villains to battle head-to-head, but you can only log on as one character at a time, so unfortunately, never the twain shall meet. Still fun though.

This skeleton is kind of out in the open...heh. But back OT, been meaning to get City of Heroes, but I've been too busy. It's next on my to buy list though, as I'm now all out of MMORPG goodness...
