HEY! We don't want it! We're already scurrying around trying to prepare hoping it's not another Hurricane Hugo. Well, we're as in the state and counties, we (family-wise) haven't gone into hunker-down mode yet. Here's hoping Hanna and the soon to follow Ike doesn't come inland as far as Hugo did. There's some stories I could tell you about Hugo. Just when I'm about to get close to my 1,000 post too! Sorry, Claye, I forgot you were in NC. Okay. I hope it turns and goes back out to sea. . .*it is unlikely but. . .* Claye, I didn't know you went through Hugo too! This. . .is why I have such a fear of having to deal with hurricanes.

Thanks everybody! We're hunkering down now; it looks like it might actually come on shore around McClellanville tonight, and that's pretty close to where I live, so. . .I don't think it's going to be too bad overall, but the power will probably be out for a couple of days. So, I'm signing off for now. I'll talk to you all in a few days!

I demand you stay on and brave it! ;D You would. ;D The latest forecast actually takes it up to the SC/NC border, so we're probably going to get a lot of wind and rain instead of hitting us full force like they were saying. So I will try to stay on until I have to turn the computer off, or until the storm turns it off for me. Claye: be safe!

Actually I think I'll be alright for this one. I'm near Charlotte, so I'm inland and don't have to worry about Hurricanes since they don't go inland. We just get the rain and whatever leftovers from it. Hugo was just strong enough to go as far as it did inland and do the damage it did around here.

Pbbbt. We got rain. And a breeze. The electricity never flickered once. I've been in worse thunderstorms.

Pbbbt. We got rain. And a breeze. The electricity never flickered once. I've been in worse thunderstorms. LOL... have seen that too in other types of natural events. A few years ago, Amarillo had a minor earthquake (it's next to a fault believe it or not). But, the town had it as their lead story: "earthquake hits Amarillo" and had several minor stories tie in with it. :-\ And - I sympathize with you on the hurricane issue. So far this year I've bought bottled water twice, had to get canned goods, and nearly plug in my backup power source... only to find out the storm had moved or we just get lots of rain after it hits somewhere else.

Hey, always better to be safe than sorry. True, but I also live a distance away from the coast. Still... I agree better safe than sorry after seeing some of the things I have this year that weren't even weather related.

I might be a turkey, but at least I don't taste like chicken. MelMac: Do you taste like duck?

Looks like Ike will be veering off to the south away from us (Miss D and myself) and possibly head up the Gulf. Anyone from here around there we need to worry about?

I might be a turkey, but at least I don't taste like chicken. MelMac: Do you taste like duck? Q: Why did the sergeant tell the privates to "Quack quack, gobble gobble?" A: He wanted him to Duck, turkeys.

Are there any more storms coming your way? Here, we're really keeping an eye out on Ike, which does look like it'll hit somewhere in the Gulf.

I have decided to bump this thread and say Hello to Miss D at the same time. Who needs to double post when you can so easily condense a post like this and make it perfect? ;D Hello, Miss D!
