My coworker was just listening to a local radio station where I live in Miami and they just had a “Name that Tune” contest. She told me they just played “Believe it or Not” and the DJs were singing the theme song. It seems like I am hearing "Believe it or Not" more than ever now since the DVDs were released.

It's sort of irresistible.

I think that's one of the charms of the song. It's irresistable, uplifting and makes the listener feel good. There aren't too many songs on the radio nowadays that make you feel that way. Because of today's trends, I tend to listen to soundtracks or bands such as the Monkees or Beach Boys because they tend to make you happy.
There's something about "Believe it or Not," that makes me want to keep listening to it. The way the song progresses is a lot like the way Ralph's life with the suit progresses. At first, he's a bit hesitant about wearing the suit, wishing it went to someone else. Later on, he builds up more and more confidence as he learns more things.

Funny you should mention that - I was just emailing one of the writers of the song itself and told him how unique it is to have a song like that where no-one has ever 'turned' on it or lableled it (like 'that's just one of those bouncy 80s songs' or some such B.S.). People seem to love it just as much today as they did back in 1981, and you don't see that too often. It really IS timeless...

There are some exceptions, but I feel a lot of today's music will eventually disappear into obscurity because they all rehash the same theme/style. Songs from the '60s, '70s and '80s seemed to have stayed with us because the singers and bands tried to have their own unique style. That's why people recognize songs from the Monkees (in addition to the theme), Beach Boys, the Carpenters, KISS, et cetera, even if they're not a fan of the person or band. People still love those groups, even though most of them are no longer together.

I agree totally. It NEVER fails --- I can be in the worst mood or have the most terrible day, and yet if I watch an episode or happen to hear "Believe It Or Not," it automatically puts me into a great mood. It is an irresistable song and a slice of early 80s Americana that has somehow stuck with us. I run into people all the time who first may not remember "The Greatest American Hero." But once I start singing a few bars of the song, it all clicks. Great, great stuff.
