Hope you have a happy birthday Lauren! Hope it was a great one.
Now, for your birthday present:
---------------------------------------
Muffled fight sounds were heard as Ralph felt as though he was flying. Unfortunately, this was not courtesy of the magic suit, which was at home in its box.
When he finally reached the ground, his head hit the cement with a soft, dull thud. The last thing before the world faded to black was someone coming down to check on him....
---------------------------------------
A soft hand caressed Ralph's face as he slowly opened his eyes. He saw a young woman with dirty blonde hair look back at him. "Not you again!" he said, remembering who the woman was. ...
"Huh? You feeling all right, Ralph?" said the woman. "It's me, Lauren..."
"Yeah, you tried to drug me last time," he said, realizing he was in an office with a Murphey bed in 1920s again. "You get lucky this time?"
"What? Ralph, you fell down a flight of stairs after you got punched. I told you that the restaurant wasn't such a good idea to go to. Some hepcat decided to fight for me, and you defended my honor. Mr. Maxwell brought you back here and we've been waiting for you to wake up..."
"OK, so where's Mr. Maxwell? I doubt he'd go anywhere if I was still unconscious," said Ralph, still uncertain of what she was saying. "You stopped at nothing last time to try and have your way with me."
Lauren paused, realizing what he was implying. "No wait, that twin of mine was really a rat wasn't she," she said with a smile. "I'm Lauren Leigh Seborgium. You met my sister, Laurie Jane, and yes, she's still in jail. Listen, you feeling better?"
Ralph nodded, and noticed something unique about her. Maybe it was the ruby red flapper dress she was wearing, or it might've been the way her bobbed hair glowed in the light, but she looked angelic.
He cleared his throat as he sat up. "Listen, I'm feeling better. Do you think that we could go back to the restaurant and finish where we started?"
Lauren chuckled. "Well, yes... but don't you want to start with dessert first?"
Ralph blushed slightly, but nodded. The two leaned close to kiss when Ralph smelled a sharp odor, making him dizzy...
----------------------------------
"Kid, come on can you hear me?" said Bill as he waved a packet of spirits of ammonia under the man's nose. He smiled when the man stirred.
Ralph groaned. "Come on, I want to kiss you, not get dizzy from champagne again," said the man muzzily.
"I hope you don't want to kiss me, Ralph. Otherwise, I'll slug you," said a gruff voice.
Ralph opened his eyes and saw that Bill was kneeling next to him. "You feeling OK Ralph?" said Bill. "Gave me a scare there kid, and you know I normally don't get them."
"Yeah, think so," said Ralph as he slowly sat up. He saw that he was next to a flight of stairs at a restaurant. "Don't tell me I fell down the stairs."
Bill nodded. "Yeah, after a creep punched ya in the jaw. Wish ya'd been wearing the suit, 'specially with that glass jaw of yours," said the agent, and Ralph groaned. "Don't worry, he's on his way to jail. Ya've been out a couple of minutes."
"Terrific," said Ralph as a young woman hurried down the stairs. "Here's that glass of water and washcloth you needed sir," said the woman and glanced at Ralph. "Hey, you're awake. Listen, I'm sorry that happened to you, but thank you for saving me from that creep."
Ralph chuckled. "Yeah, heard he was going to jail," he said as they heard the paramedics arrive. After checking him out and finding all he had was a minor bump on the head, Ralph was allowed to refuse treatment under the restriction that someone would keep an eye on him all through the night.
After the paramedics left and promising Bill he'd call as soon as he got home, Ralph turned to look at Lauren, who had bobbed dirty blonde hair and red flapper dress. He blushed when he saw her looking back. "Listen, you sure you're feeling well," she said, slightly concerned. "I mean, you were staring at me..."
"Yes, I was. You look lovely," he said, and paused. "Listen, would you like to go out for dinner? Though I have to admit somewhere with a few more stairs."
"Sure, I'd love that... especially if you treat me to some 'dessert' later on," said Lauren with a wink.
Ralph chuckled, and the two headed to The Emerald Lion, a restaurant fit for the 1920s outfit Lauren was wearing. "So, what's your name?" asked Ralph.
"Lauren Leigh Seborgium," she said, as though she knew he was going to ask.
