or any FBI agent working with Ralph...! ;D What would be your nickname(s) for the suit? I think I'd be using Bill's time honored nickname of "The Jammies". But I'd probably call it: - Magic Longjohns
- Longjohns
- Good Luck Suit
- Lucky Longjohns
- Lucky Suit
- That Special Suit
I'd also use the term "Dressed for the occasion". Now let's hear your responses.

I like longjohns, but being the daughter of a bred-and-born hillbilly, I'd of course call them "long han'ls" or however that is supposed to be spelled! Long han'ls or jammies work for me. I don't wanna be Bill, I enjoy being his woman

So you enjoy being Bill's woman?
What was your response when the Green Guys said he WASN'T worthy of the suit's power? ;D
(If you've watched The Greatest American HEROINE you'll understand the joke!)

LOL I just watched Best Desk Scenario, and I love Bill's line about being sent to the basement to play with his velcro

I'd probably use "the jammies" because it reminds me of kid's pajamas, right down to the boot spats. I remember when Ralph put on the suit in "My Heroes Have Been Cowboys, it looked like the shoes were attached to the suit. It wasn't until I looked at the shoes closer that I realized the shoes were separate of the suit. Jammies also works because all three of them use the word to refer to the suit throughout the series.
Although jammies is my favorite, I'd also probably call them "p'jammers," "magic longjohns" (another frequent Bill phrase for the suit) or "el traje rojo" (red suit) if I wanted to confuse people. Some might think I was referring to a red business suit instead of a superhero costume.

I always thought it was hilarious when he called them the "Jammies".

I had a quick question.
Could Bill, as an FBI agent and/or veteran, get access to a naval station? Not full access, mind you (he wouldn't be able to get into the area I'm thinking of any way).
I know he was Army, not Navy.
Thanks! I need to know for my story!
You can email me at stanford9@gmail.com if necessary, but I check this board fairly often.

Pre-9/11:
ANYONE could get on a base. My Dad was an engineer for the Dept of Defense at Lakehurst NAEC (Naval Air Engineering Center). The guard at the booth would salute and let you in just as long as you had the sticker on the car. If I had his car for the day, I could go on base and meet him for lunch.
Post 9/11:
Security is much more strict. However, at my last job, I worked with a retired Air Force officer. He said he could get on the base (Lakehurst) with his just his ID to use the PX.
Being that Bill was ex-Army, he would have a discharge card allowing him on the base. All discharged military personnel have one. I just asked one of my co-workers who was in Vietnam...he still has his too. I don't see the FBI being kept off a base though.

Far out, thanks. I was thinking his status as a veteran could do it. My son could go into the NS as a DOD dependent (he lived with my sister for a good part of his childhood).
I was actually working at Naval Station Bremerton, where they're heading, when 9/11 happened. More importantly, I was working in the shipyard, which even Bill won't be able to access (Ralph will, of course, thanks to the suit.)
By the time I got to the gate to the NS and shipyard (there're two you have to go thru to get to the shipyard), they were going to condition Bravo, and they were at Delta within an hour. Needless to say, it was pretty tense.
My nervousness was coming from the fact that my sister and my son were living in the middle east at the time. All traffic in and out of the CIA (controlled industrial area, not the gov't agency) was cut off, so I couldn't email sis and see how they were, or check the internet for the latest. They finally told us that if we needed to leave, to do so, so I told them I HAD to find out if my son and sis were okay.
I had visions of something happening, since things all happened simultaneously. I figured bin laden and his boys wouldn't have any problem taking out an American school full of American kids in Bahrain.
My son said they were about to go to E (evacuation), and I think he told me, via his email, a bit more than he was supposed to. All sis said was "All I can say is we're okay."
Any way, I digress, as usual... but yeah, I know how security was POST 9/11. For weeks, the gate right near my apt. was closed; I had to go to the main gates, by the ferries or up the road. For two weeks, EVERYONE going into the CIA was searched, so long lines went up the avenues by the gates. Then they went to searching every fourth person (sometimes it was me, sometimes not.)
Very scary time, I tell you what.
(It's a little bit later, and OOPS, my bad... Bill WILL be able to get into the shipyard... back then it was all part of the naval station. I have to keep remembering we're in the early 80's here! Heck, I almost had Ralph holographing in on the Russian sub that sits in Elliott Bay, by the ferry boats, as a tourist attraction now. What would Bill think of THAT, I wonder! Okay, back to your cornflakes.)

I am a big fan of when they speak Pig Latin about the suit, especially in front of Kevin. Ralph had to go get the uitsay and Kevin goes "What suit?" "Smart kid, Ralph," was Bill's response. Jammies is a great word too...as was "Little Red Stretchies" that Ralph uses in the amnesia episode.

Another thought came to me...the episode "Here's Looking at You, Kid" where Ralph crash lands by the plane, turns, sees it, claps his hands and says "Nothing to it when you know what you're doing." The music score that overlays that adds to the comedy of it in my opinion.
