I'm sure people post this here all of the time, but any idea where to begin on trying to get together a GAH suit for Halloween without having to make it all yourself?
thanks!

Pam gave the best advice on her interview. She bought a red turtleneck and tights, and just bought a cape and some booties. You would have to have someone sew the pattern. Or you might find a horse one if you want to be Caballo Rojo.

Since this is EXACTLY what I'm doing, here's my suggestions... First, it depends on how exact you want your magic jammies to be. If you want to go simplest/least amount of work, get a Dracula cape, a red long sleeve mock turtle neck/tee, red sweat pants (or regular pants), red boots (or shoes), a silver belt (you could print out a logo & tape it on the belt buckle), & print out a logo for the front of the shirt. Curly hair wig optional.
Or, you can get very exact & go my route: Curly dirty blond wig Black cloth (I used 2 yards & I'm 5ft. tall) Bias tape (for trim: 3 3-yard red & 2 3-yard gray) Red, long sleeve mock turtle neck Red sweat pants Belt, 2-inches wide Gray cloth (to cover the belt) Belt buckle cover with logo, courtesy of ebay Felt (red, gray, & black for logo) Red boots (or shoes) Red cloth (optional) I'm taking advantage of my mom's abilities with a sewing machine. We cut out a cape from the black cloth, sewed the red bias tape all around the edges & will use either clasps or velcro to fasten it. The shirt will get gray trim on the cuffs, the bottom of the shirt, & the collar (I think we need to trim off some of the collar from the shirt). I used double sided cloth "tape" to stick my logo together (haven't decided how to attach it to the shirt yet). The red pants ARE going to have stirrups, which also got gray trim, along with the cuffs. Since the pants aren't "skin tight," my mom offered to cut out some of the excess material & then we'll sew gray trim on for the "top" of the "boots." It isn't done yet, but it's getting close. As soon as it's done I'm gonna post pictures.

Too bad your mother does not feel inclined to go into business and make several pair this year...I would pay her for it if she wants to make mine.

Yes, but maybe she enjoys it. I could find the red booties or shoes and a wig, but come one...if she is already doing the outfits and icons, you think that another one would be a piece of cake for some easy dough.

My mom made me a GAH costume for Halloween on her sewing machine when I was seven years old. I used to put that thing on and jump out of the trees in our front yard doing my best "Danger" Madalone impression. This would, of course, embarrass the hell out of my sister when she would have her friends over, which made it even more fun.

That sounds like fun, but no, no one will help me make mine a reality for this year. I was going to wear it to class on Halloween.
