Chris Folino's "solution" to find someone with an Iphone and pay them 99 cents to download Sparks, so we can all watch it on a tiny little screen, is a pretty bad solution. I'm disappointed. I guess I'll just stick with the comics and hope for the movie. The Sparks animation can move on without me, which it doesn't seem to make Chris and Katt that upset. I appreciate they are "Indie", but narrowing one's audience even further is not going to feed their purse much and help get them more mainstream and more earnings. Maybe they should have first focused on their comics, to get them out on time, and earn some money and then later figured out how to make the animation more accessible. Now we have comics which are turned out late, and animation which most of us can't see--I think their business plan is somewhat flawed. That worries me. Mona I disagree with the comments about them "Trying to get them out on time." As someone who's followed the "Sparks" series well - and from the beginning, all six comics all drawn and are being inked, colored and printed. If they hadn't, I doubt they'd bother with the animated version yet. Why? [glow=red,2,300]POTENTIAL SPOILER AHEAD[/glow] Katt voices Archer, and from reading updates, has been busy getting the comic out first. If it wasn't, there wouldn't be a reason to do the animated version. [glow=red,2,300]END POTENTIAL SPOILER AHEAD[/glow] Things beyond their control, such as the printing press, has also caused their delay. Chris, Derek, Katt, et. al. have no control there, and have kept us updated as to why the delay. The SAME thing happened with "GAH" - a printing issue. What I do admire is that they are apologetic and as soon as they know what's going on as far as printing, they let us know.

I hope they don't go this way with GAH comics.
I do understand where Mona is coming from. Not everyone owns the technology to have access.
Want to buy a comic book? Most people can get it online, since most have access to the internet. They could even charge per view or download on a website, which would give more people access.
When you start marketing to these niches, you run a big risk. You could strike it big, hoping that those with the technology go for it, and really go for it big time. You cut your loses with the people who don't.
Or you could wind up with a Blue Ray or Beta technology, and people soon wonder why they bothered to spend the money.
Consider this. They are going for a certain demographic. I would guess that people aged 15-30 are more likely to have iphones than people in my age range. And people in my age range are going to be spending money on mortgages and kids, not comics and iphones... so it's not surprising.
Of course, this is my choice not to spend money on iphones and things like that. I don't even have cable. I prefer to own a house. *shrug*
I understand that I am not The Market. I am not the kind of person who people market their products to, since I don't spend my money like most "normal" people. It's disappointing that these venues of entertainment aren't available to me, but it's my choice.
Hey, I'm lucky I have a functioning DVD player. And a pay-as-you-go cell phone.
Oh well.
[/size][/quote] My point exactly - I think the animated version is geared toward teens. Having done some marketing in the area myself, I figured it was based on research they had and are gambling - just to see how well it'll do. Pending on the results, they'll probably adjust it accordingly.

I don't have an iPhone or iTouch, but I do have iTunes. Plus, none of my friends who would be interested in this sort of thing have those accessories either. I'm also hoping for this to be brought to iTunes, so I can share in the fun. After all, a large part of the potential fan-base would be people of our generation who grew up with the original TGAH (& reading comics). But hey, it's still early days & there's a long road ahead. Feel the love. dolfyn. ;D

That said - I hope that they do put the "GAH" animated shorts on several venues so people can access it easier. It's just right now wait and see.

Just to clarify - it's "Sparks" that right now is on iPhones/iTunes. Oh, I know that; but with the involvement of some of the TGAH people, it would interest some TGAH fans (like us!). Feel the love. dolfyn.

Feel the love. dolfyn. OK, just making sure dolfyn - and it does interest me too, one reason I wish they'd tell us soon how it'll be presented. (Then again - I can't say much... I thought the greenguys were talking to me through my computer when it started playing music for no reason.)

Didn't mention this in my earlier post, so here goes:
While I'll admit I'm not going to be able to watch the whole comic (long story), I like how they did the animated comic. It stayed very close to the look of the comic and Pare's voice fits Sparks very well.
It's very reminiscent of the "Doctor Who" animation for "Shada," a Fourth Doctor episode that was not completed in live action, but instead drawn and voiced by the Eighth Doctor.

Yep, I have, and it's quite interesting. It's also nice to hear Pare's normal voice when he's interviewed instead of his "Joisey" accent as Tony. Don't know why Katt has a purple scarf with a jacket over a skull T-shirt though. It just reminds me of something the Doctor would wear. Don't know why... but it just does.

Thank you! Any news on the comic con in So Cal yet? Do you mean the San Diego comic con?

Yes. I was wondering if there will be a Sparks "panel", if William Katt will be there, and if they will get Michael Paré to appear.

Doubt both would be there though Hey, they might be - so far I know of at least two events both have attended: the recent convention that Marci (Ms B) attended, and then the one that announced the comic book. ... Now, if they can get all three to appear, you could have a photo taken together with all three. But, I don't know how many conventions Connie appears at though.
