Just picked up a book called Cult TV, many programs from the UK produced by ITC are written about in detail. While thumbing through the chapter about Space:1999 it was said Culp was first cast as Commander Koenig. The producers dropped Culp when he insisted on writing and directing episodes. I always thought the series was a bit bland, and curious as to how the series would have worked had Culp been the lead.

I never watched it. Was it on long? What was it about?

I never watched it. Was it on long? What was it about? What little I've seen reminded me of an American version of "Blake's 7." Personally, I liked "Blake's 7," but I also am fond of other sci-fi shows from the UK. There are some clips of it on YouTube though (this is one that's actually a scene):

Probably the main reason I didn't watch it.

Probably the main reason I didn't watch it. Did find it funny though the two leads were also teamed up in "Mission: Impossible" at one point at least. As far as I can tell though this isn't "M:I in space."
