This was a fun piece to do - and different from ones I've seen elsewhere where they tend to keep the same design or pattern. It's kinda what I had envisioned I'd do if I did a bracelet based on the kids, but it isn't quite what I had in mind:

Made these the other day - the one on the left I cooked too long and the one on the right is the correct one for a robot face. Have thought about possibly trying a similar idea for the greenguys, but not sure yet.

Here's another collection of pendants. The one on the left is based on an idea I have for a greenguy themed one, but this one is purple and white. The one on the right is basically an interpretation of Ralph's class - disorganized, sometimes rogue (i.e. the orange spiral diachroic and the black glass bar in it), but yet works when put together. The fun part about this one was save the millefori glass (the flowers), the pieces were pieces of glass that were cut wrong or just leftover bits from other projects. And the center? - well, it's a turtle. I plan on making another one of him soon to sell, but don't know what colors I'm going to use or the design for his shell will be.

The middle one looks like Gumby got squashed. ;D

The middle one looks like Gumby got squashed. ;D OK... I forgot the tail, but it IS a turtle. Now the first attempt... I would agree with you. I cooked it too long and it fused into one new piece instead of having levels like this more successful one did. (And, as far as the eyes, you glue them on after you fuse the piece )

I like the Greenguy themed one. Very nice. Thanks Claye. I think it, the heart one and the one I based for Pam are the three most popular ones. I've made a lot of the heart one - one in purple and gold, one in black and white, but mostly the blue and purple. This one has had a couple of variations, but it too is a popular design.

These are awesome, Mel, I loved all of them and think the reasoning behind each component is quite thought out and unique to each character. I'll take a Bill pendant thank you, how much? (This is re: the initial post, I just got reading it all.)

The one on the left is kind of that psychotic-robot look, can't go wrong with psychotic robots! (Terminator notwithstanding...)

(This is re: the initial post, I just got reading it all.) Thanks Billswoman. It's a lot of fun to make these, and I've enjoyed thinking out of the box for ones related to "GAH." Took a bit for a class themed one though - though I have to admit the green one is one of my favorites (I've worn it most of the week).

True, but someone had ordered a robot face, and I felt that it didn't quite work for what she wanted (she wanted more of Marvin the Paranoid Android in the boxiness of the robot face). Looking at the real life counterpart to the version, I always felt the face on the left looks more like "the Scream." It works, and would make a great Halloween pendant... except I've misplaced it in my work area, so I have to hunt for it.

Where do you go to purchase all this stuff? My sister is quite adept at femo and other artsy stuff, making necklaces and earrings. How much does the kiln and all that cost? I wouldn't mind getting her the equipment and see what she could come up with. She's a master at using eBay, I'm sure she could get some mail order sales.
mel, i read your msg to me, i'll respond to it this weekend, didn't want you to think i was ignoring it. Heading for the hay shortly though, i'll be back! (in the great words of Skeletor... ha, y'all thought I was going to say Arnie, huh?)

I'll send you a PM, because it's a bit long, and I don't want HD to go "this is drivel, it makes my eyes water."
This goes double that ever since he said my turtle looks like "Gumby got squashed," I have actually seen his point. It's still a turtle to me though. :-\

It's your art thread, Mel. You can drivel all you want. And it DOES look like Gumby getting squashed. You think Pokey would have looked out for him.

Don't give me any ideas, or I might create a Pokey pendant. The orange glass when cooked looks the SAME color as him. (But, reality - I can't cut perfect curves yet. It's right now only bowl looking ones - curves on one side, flat top). And, typeing it out - the amount of information for it is really long, even for a normal MelManecdote.

Lately, I've been making bits and pieces pendants as well as a couple of new diachronic pendants. Though one design I had with a reddish diachronic glass on black would turn red... but it instead turned orange.
Have a few pendants made that I'll probably post up in a few days. Right now, I'm just busy making a few that will be sold at the art gallery here (I can only make a couple a day tops).
I have considered one other pendant - for fun - that is the TARDIS from "Doctor Who." I just need to have a close look at it again, and adapt it a little to fit the restrictions of fused glass (meaning, no lettering).

That may/may not be the case, and even so, I have a couple of other things I have to figure out with it, such as a tiered roof and such. The color at least will work some - it's a light blue, which would fit with the early years of the show.

I did figure out how to design the TARDIS and make it properly, but it's on hold just a day or two longer. There is also a fish looking pendant I've made that needs to have a few things done with it before it's finished. It was a slightly misfired fused glass piece that actually still works in the long run. What I plan on doing tonight is making a fused glass pieces for a patriotic bracelet for the Fourth of July. This piece will have a particular sentiment for me, as I have a relative in the military, so it's just the one piece... well unless it breaks while cooking and I have to make another one.

Well, finally have all the glass I need to make an abstract version of a pendant I've wanted to try. Hopefully things will work right with the kiln and I won't have to try this twice. Will show you when it's done.
