Sorry it took so long to follow up with this, but I checked my set from Spain and it is indeed region free. Excellent quality just like the Anchor Bay releases with all the original music intact. There are two different sellers on ebay both based in Spain presently selling these sets. I purchased mine from one of these sellers and am very happy with it.

So it has been posted here that this release is Region 0 but what hasn't been said is if this is a PAL or NTSC DVD. Even if it is Region 0, a lot of players can't play PAL DVDs. I have a player that will do both but NTSC always looks better than a conversion. Does anyone know? Excited to be a part of the forum now! =)

He or I will post what he discovers. Welcome to the forum!

Thanks Greenguy! I'm pretty sure I may have been a member of this forum or one like it 10 years ago or so. I certainly remember you from my prior GAH surfing. =) Sometimes you can tell which format it is by putting it in the DVD drive of a computer and looking at the files or the info on the computer's player by seeing the resolution specs. I was surprised to see that it wasn't on any of the pics either. It could be NTSC as most players in european countries are dual format while most in the US are not, at least not without modification. Thanks for looking into it for me!

There was indeed a forum on the website 10 years ago, different style and most of those members vanished years back but we still chug along. One of my sources popped a disc in last night and the player would NOT read it. I suspect it is PAL, even if it is a Region 0. If it suffers from the dreaded audio "speed up" it is indeed PAL. Maybe one of these days I'll spring for a copy of those. So buyer beware, although you should not have a problem as you said yourself. Too bad a Blu Ray edition doesn't exist with original music, because even if from overseas and Region Free, Blu-Ray discs do not suffer from the "sped up" audio track. Sadly another one of my favorites Tales of The Gold Monkey, was released on DVD in the UK first. The U.S. team used the PAL masters for producing the NTSC versions, and the music now sounds horrible and everyone has a slight chipmunk sound to their voice. UGH.

Thanks for checking on that for me. I just purchased my second set of the US DVDs so I could have the instruction book. I thought I had read quite a while back that it was garbage so I never bothered with it until I recently got curious and looked it up. It looks really cool! I found a copy of the set on ebay and made a best offer of $65 that was accepted so I'm excited about that as it looks more pricey everywhere else I look. I sure hope the batteries haven't ruined it though. Point being, I can't see spending the money for a 3rd set right now, especially if it is PAL, even though I could play it. I would love to get the Japanese DVDs but that cost is insane, even for Japan! I lived there for 2 years so I can make my way around Amazon.co.jp decently well. I loved Tales of the Gold Monkey. Thats a shame about the DVDs. Why on earth would they do something like that? Probably just to do it cheaply I guess. So bummed out to see that there hasn't been any movement on a GAH movie since I last looked. It could be so cool, especially if our fellow board member's script would have been used!

The instruction book featured in the collector's set is actually a pretty decent replica. Not totally accurate, but much better than what might have been reproduced as a toy back in the day. I have no answer on the Gold Monkey front. They ruin Monkey, then release Street Hawk in the same manner, but NOT with the PAL transfers, then go on to do the alternate version of the Airwolf pilot from the PAL transfers just like Monkey...makes my head spin! Yeah, it's too bad Paul's script was never produced. It would have been nice to see a new story that still used the old series in it's continuity

Joe did you ever pick those up? Just curious what the set contains, or if the contents have been altered over the years.

I did pick it up. It’s a box set all together as one. It seems to have the original music. I have only gotten to a few episodes. But the pilot had help me Rhonda and rocket man. So I’m assuming it’s as originally aired throughout the whole set.

I know originally seasons 1 and 2 were released in a box set, and season 3 separately. Your box set contains all 3 seasons? If so that’s a set I’ve never ran across.

You are correct. It’s seasons 1 and 2 together with season 3 separately. My mistake. I bought all three at once and I confused myself lol sorry about that. I’m Not that tech savvy I would put a picture of what I bought on here but don’t know how.

I wasn't sure if another set had been issued at some point that contained all three seasons together. That third season set seems to difficult to locate now. Thank for the info!

Hey man. I got lucky on a Spanish site “todocoleccion”. Luckily the guy I bought from spoke some English. It’s like a Spanish eBay. I hope you find it! You have to be careful. I lost money on a dvd set because of miscommunication and I bought something that I didn’t want. So if you decide to buy from there proceed with caution and ask a lot of questions and make sure the seller has a good rating and is in constant communication.
