I was informed by a Mill Creek rep this morning that seasons one and two are for sale at Target.

Any difference at all between this and the Anchor Bay release?

From what I have researched online, there is no difference between this new release and the Anchor Bay releases from 2005. Also, there is supposedly a higher compression rate on the Mill Creek DVDs as the result of more episodes being squeezed onto a single disc. If this is true, the picture and sound may be of lesser quality than the Anchor Bay releases. I'm thinking this may be why the Mill Creek sets are selling at a much lower price.

I picked up the two pack season one and two release, and it appears to be the same prints used by Anchor Bay. Season one contains the Cannell portion (around 20 minutes) of the bonus features found on the Anchor Bay set, and TGAHeroine is nowhere in sight. Season two has no bonus material at all, and again the same prints used by Anchor Bay are used here.
The box design is very cool, and I bought the last 2 pack at my local Target for 14.99. The other Target a few miles away was already sold out, so this new set is selling very well.

That's interesting how the new sets are selling out quickly. How are the episodes spread out on the discs? Is it basically the same layout as the Anchor Bay releases? I'm considering driving over to the Target just down the street from me and picking one up.

I didn't until the DVDs came out and I got more info on the show. (I also wish it was also the way I thought it was - Ralph gave up the suit for a good reason to Holly.) But, it does sound like a good deal for those who couldn't get the original boxes or just want the episodes and don't care for the extras.

Maybe "GAHeroine" is being shuffled to the Season Three set. I've always thought that it's inclusion in the Season One set ruins the Big Reveal of the aliens in the thrid season premier for those who haven't seen the series before.
When I loaned the discs to a friend who had never seen the show before, I purposely held back the final disc of the Season One set for that very reason (and also not to show him "GAHeroine" until after he'd seen [almost] the entire series; the only downside to that is that he basically watched the entire series in DVD order, except the final two episodes of the first season along with "GAHeroine" were held back until last).

Sorry for such the late reply guys, I've been spread a little thin this week. The DVDs that make up the Mill Creek sets appear to look decent even with more episodes squeezed to a disc. I cannot tell the difference between the Anchor Bay picture, and the Mill Creek. That being said, I will say it could depend on ones equipment also and I haven't had time to watch EVERY episode yet. 2 discs make up season one, while 4 discs make up season 2. I was happy to see at least the Mill Creek design guys did correct 2 of Anchor Bays mistakes. AB incorrectly titled A Chicken In Every Plot as A Chicken In Every Pot and The Devil And The Deep Blue Sea as The Devil In The Deep Blue Sea, both are correct in the MC titles. They also used the full title of Captain Bellybuster And The Speed Factory, the AB team just called it Captain Bellybuster. Sadly season one's Saturday On Sunset Boulevard is STILL incorrectly titled on the MC discs as Saturday NIGHT On Sunset Boulevard. Leads me to believe that somewhere in the Cannell files that episode is mislabeled, and that's what both AB and MC worked from. I guess when producing the discs its not SOP to check the actual episode titles against what info they've been handed. Finally since these are the same prints used by AB Don Cervantes is still missing from the main credits in the last half of the 2nd season episodes.

I wonder if Season 3 will still be presented in the production order as opposed to order the episodes originally aired in.

I found the Mill Creek Edition of the first season in the $5 bin at Wal-Mart. Bought it, started watching it, loved it, now buying the Anchor Bay releases.

Welcome to the board, IJM. Hope to see you join in the discussion now that you've watched some episodes... I take it you never saw them before?

Welcome to the board, IJM. Hope to see you join in the discussion now that you've watched some episodes... I take it you never saw them before? Indeed. Heard a youth pastor at church mention he was a fan years ago, then my dad called me in when the theme song played on the radio. So, when I found the DVD of Season 1 for $5, I thought it was cheap enough to give it a shot. Best impulse buy ever!
