I was stunned when I heard about this on Friday. I, like all of you, enjoyed several of this man's shows, especially the Rockford Files and of course, TGAH. I also loved the A-Team and Hardcastle and McCormick. I've also enjoyed reading his novels (which read like his tv shows. Great stuff!)
As a writer, his is a career that I greatly admire. I wish I could have met him. He will be greatly missed.

This is just crazy. I guess I didn't know he was fighting cancer. It's a shame he had to go. He will be missed.

Very sad to hear about SJC passing, but the man lived a great life. I'll always be grateful to Cannell for creating GAH, for it had such a positive impact on me as a child. R.I.P. Mr. Cannell.

Got the Cannell Newsletter this morning in which I was very surprised to see about his passing in it! RIP, Mr. Cannell, you are greatly missed.

"Castle" tonight did a tribute to Cannell by using the bit where he's typing on his computer and tosses the paper.
Difference was, this time the paper kept sinking and didn't go into the trademark logo.
They put in as type (roughly) "Stephen Cannell, friend, mentor, writer..." (shift to the falling paper...) We'll miss you."
I thought it very touching that the show paid tribute to him, not just letting him cameo at least one time on the show, but thanked him for sharing his talents.
I've liked "Castle" since the start - refreshing crime series with humor and family issues mixed in - Castle an every man, etc., but I think this only makes it even more special because they took that time to do the tribute.
